He wrote this two years ago at the height of his ongoing battle with illness, he's still having treatment in Canada but on a plus note he is slowly getting better.
He isn't getting better. There are some hopes that the experimental treatments will repair some of the damage to his brain, nerves, internal organs etc but we don't know. It's likely that much of the damage is permanent. With mountains of medication, his Lyme Disease is somewhat under control, although still problematic. His Mast Cell Disease is more worrying because, even with mountains of medication, it's progress can only be slowed, not halted. He's also said that his adhd has become worse over the years. He's in a much better place now than 6 years ago but that's been due to an eventual correct diagnosis and treatment. His main illnesses are not curable. We can hope that this will change, or that better managing treatments become available but such things are not even on the horizon atm, unfortunately...
Ren is still seriously ill! He has 2 extremely debilitating and incurable, chronic illnesses and a whole host of associated conditions and illnesses. He has brain damage, nerve damage and damage to his bones, joints and internal organs. He's spent almost all of 2023 in Canada, undergoing experimental medical treatments, in an attempt to repair some of that damage but most of it is likely permanent. He's in near constant pain and that pain is frequently chronic pain! He's on mountains of medication and has to undergo regular invasive treatments. He's extremely allergic to virtually all food, so is on a highly restricted diet, meaning that he has virtually the same meal, every single mealtime and it frequently has to be liquidised, so that his body doesn't reject it. He also suffers from adhd, ptsd and chronic depression. His Lyme disease, although still problematic has been brought under control but the damage has already been done. His Mast Cell Disease is more worrying, as it's progress can only be slowed, not halted. All of this is NOW. We need to remember that when we see Ren, we're seeing him on one of his "good" days.
