Wheel of Fortune Fan Recreation/Game Night - Episode 2!

- Hi again everyone--here we are with Episode 2 of our Wheel of Fortune Game Night series! In this episode, you'll see some new content such as a crossword puzzle as well as the Letter Streak! Scroll down for a breakdown of round-level information, as well as some updates that were made to the game based on your feedback that will appear in future episodes. FYI: This episode was filmed at the same time as the pilot, prior to social distancing guidelines coming into effect. We hope everyone is staying safe!
GENERAL INFORMATION
The wheel is 40” wide and is custom-built using all sorts of methods and materials: 3D design and printing, electronic paper cutting machines, and LOTS of other fun things that really helped me bring the wheel to life.
The puzzle board is custom-built software I spent the better part of a year building out by learning how to code VBA and perform some graphic/animation design.
FYI: None of the above can or will be distributed, so please do not ask.

UPDATES BASED ON YOUR FEEDBACK
1. A bug was found that caused some delays during toss-up letter reveals. It's been squashed and the toss-up letters now reveal just like they do on the show as well as at the same 1-second time intervals.
2. During the speed-up round, the buzzer is no longer heard when guessing a letter that is not found in the puzzle.
3. The software in general has been visually cleaned up/streamlined so it is a bit more organized and the puzzleboard has less around it during gameplay.
ROUND-LEVEL BREAKDOWN
The wheel is loaded up with a Gift Tag, the Wild Card, the Million Dollar Wedge, the Vault Wedge, the Free Play Wedge, and a Prize Wedge at the start of each game. The Vault Wedge is always re-added to the wheel each round, even if it is removed in a previous round (win or lose; the Vault amount resets if it is won, however)-everything else stays on until won/lost or once the Speed-Up round is reached.

Now this would be fun to the max! I commented on your wheel and flippers awhile ago. Just amazing! I'm in the process of building a smaller one for my neice. I had an old one I built out of wood and she always loves spinning it. I'm using a lazy susan for the wheel. As for the flipper, I'm only going to have only one, but its base is going to flash red leds. Cheers!, Ryan.

Great job hosting. Is the program VB? Is everything you're showing, video transitions, etc all part of the program. I notice sometimes the letters pause a bit during tossups, does the show do that? Just curious. For someone who also programs, it's nice to see such care & attention taken. Well done.
Hey there--thanks for commenting! The language is in VBA, but the core is actually PowerPoint. The video is a mix of editing and the application itself; so a bit of both. I identified a bug in the tossups that was fixed after these were recorded.. unfortunately you can see that bug on display here. There's supposed to be a 1 second delay between each letter appearing on the puzzleboard during the tossups, and in these episodes you can see there's a bit more than that, randomly.. thankfully it is now fixed!
Your kind words are very much appreciated. I had zero knowledge of VBA prior to embarking on this project, and the software has undergone many, many changes and enhancements to get to where it is today. Thank goodness for Google and the massive amount of VBA resources that allowed me to self-teach myself how to code it.. I am detail-oriented by nature, so I hope that shows through with what I put together here!
@@PARANOiAMAX Thanks for that response. I program in Flash & I find a little bit of OCD doesn't hurt when I spend hours trying to find the exact font or trying to recreate something. It's nice to see other people care too. Your videos are so good, I would avoid the jump cuts between rounds. Cut back to the board or something. I know it's a small detail, but it already looks so good. I knew my eye wasn't fooling me in those tossups. The program bug will get you every time. Anyway, well done. Like I said, great hosting too. You move the game a long and avoid trying to direct focus from the game. Well done. John

This is something I’ve always wanted to do with WOF and Jeopardy! Only in mine, I get actual people to play Pat, Vanna and Alex on screen and Charlie and Johnny off screen + combine all the different eras of Theme Songs, SFXs and intros and depending the era per Episode, include either a Columbia TriStar/KingWorld combo at the end or a KingWorld/Sony Pictures TV combo the very least! Just no CBS TV Distribution/Sony combo since I’m used to the older logos as I’m old school like that! You earned yourself a sub! If you’ve done any Jeopardy! recreations like this, please let me know and I’ll check it out! Nice work and nice to meet you!
