Ingredients
Marinade
• 2 tbsp light soy sauce
• 3 tbsp dark soy sauce
• 1 tbsp sake or dry sherry
• 3 tbsp mirin
• 1 tsp sesame oil
• 1 tbsp brown sugar
• 2 tsp minced ginger
• 3 garlic cloves, peeled and minced
• ½ tsp white pepper
Stir Fry
• 500g (1.1lbs) Denver, sirloin or skirt/flank steak, cut into strips (cut against the grain)
• 200g (7 oz) medium egg noodles (dried)
• 1 tsp sesame oil
• 1 ½ tbsp sunflower oil
• 1 small onion, peeled and finely sliced
• 1 red pepper, deseeded and thinly sliced
• 1 medium carrot, peeled and chopped into matchsticks
• 5 spring onions (scallions), sliced into thin strips
To serve
• ¼ tsp chilli flakes
• 1 tbsp sesame seeds
Instructions
1 Mix all of the marinade ingredients in a bowl.
2 Place the sliced beef in a second bowl and add one third of the marinade. Stir together, cover and leave to marinate for 30 minutes. Reserve the rest of the sauce for later.
3 Meanwhile, cook the egg noodles according to pack instructions (usually boil for 5 mins), then drain in a colander and rinse in cold water until completely cold. Toss together with the 1 tsp of sesame oil and leave in the colander until needed.
4 Heat 1 tbsp of the sunflower oil in a wok over a high heat.
5 Remove the steak sliced from the bowl using a slotted spoon and cook the steak slices in two batches, cooking for about 2-3 minutes, until just cooked.
6 Place the cooked beef in a bowl.
7 Add the remaining ½ tbsp oil to the wok and fry the onions, red pepper and carrot for 2 -3 minutes, until just starting to soften.
8 Add in the reserved marinade/sauce and bring to the boil.
9 Add in the noodles and cook for 2-3 minutes - tossing the noodles using a set of tongs, until heated through.
10 Add in the beef and spring onions and cook for a further 1-2 minutes, to heat the beef back through.
11 Divide between bowls and top with chilli flakes and sesame seeds before serving.
Tip: Make teriyaki chicken noodles by replacing the beef with strips of chicken. You will need to cook the chicken for a few minutes longer to ensure it is fully cooked through and no longer pink in the middle.

You have the best take away recipes.
Would be even more tender if you added 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda to the beef and massaged everything in. Velvetting the beef is worth it! Looks tasty!
Baking soda is needed for cheaper cuts of beef only. Good quality beef do not need baking soda to tenderize
@@flcga123 actually works well for all. Gives that tender texture as in good Chinese restaurants
Restaurant uses cheap cuts of beef, that’s why they use baking soda to tenderize.
@@flcga123 Most Chinese restaurants use flank steak, which is not cheap just best suited to the dish. This needs to be tenderized.
Flank is a cheaper and tougher cut of meat. Let me ask you this, would you put baking soda on your steak? When you grill your top sirloin or tenderloin, do you ‘velvet’ the steak with baking soda?
This recipe looks delicious! ❤

This is page 30 in your book, I thought about cheating and buying teriyaki sauce, but decided against it. It was amazing and remarkably easy to make. Mrs Steve thanks you for your recipes 😂

Didn’t the garlic look like ginger and the ginger looked like garlic. 😂
If ginger is grated instead of minced, it looks just like that.

You lost me at mirin.

Japanese rice wine you can find in most not all supermarket. You could replace it with a few drops of rice vinegar or even white wine or Chinese cooking wine or dry sherry like Niki suggests. Happy cooking !
You are a good cook/chef. Your meals, I've tried are delish, but... your hair hanging down😮 is an off-putter. I notice lots of women, even on bake off have long hair dangling. Not hygienic really.
So.. ? She’s NOT cooking for you..🙄
very good,,,Im sure I could taste it . Your wok is superb,,well used, it will never let you down.. Your hair behaves in simmiliar fashion,,that kink and colour is very wonderbar.
