  • This is my detailing video for my BATMAN BEYOND cosplay costume build. I wanted to mimic the statuette that inspired this suit and add my own style cues. I wanted to build the boots onto the suit, but that would make getting the mannequin out next to impossible. Also, the cowl looks like fun too! Let’s take care of these fine details, then get all of it attached to the undersuit in the next video! Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing!!

Why is it that you prefer to use hot glue instead of contact cement?

Hey Matt, I use both. I use contact cement to bond the pieces together and hot glue to bond the foam to the undersuit. For the detail pieces, NORMALLY, I would have used contact cement there too, but I’m in the Midwest. The weather went from 70 to 30 degrees. Also, I would have to bond everything before painting, which also delays due to weather. So, I take shortcuts sometimes to keep on schedule to complete my videos. As for the hot glue, I have tried various glues to bond foam to Lycra with little to no success. The heat melts the foam and the material to make a strong bond. I use older suits and muscle suits to stretch the material enough for me to fit inside. Sometimes the glue seeps through to the muscle or under suits. Watch the Flash video. IT WAS A BATTLE to get the outer costume off of the undersuit. But, I’d rather do this, than build individual pieces that also need mechanisms to adhere them to the suit.
