Anderton's in Guildford, UK sells them and they do ship to the U.S.A. That's how I bought mine and there was no problem. And the shipping cost was not as much as I thought it would be.
I think I'm going to get one. I'm a fan of flat wounds, so I'd replaced the supplied strings with the heavier Kala flats (just released) which have been made specially for their new solid body mini bass.
I just got my Blackstar (u)Bass (which is also my first bass ever) and I really want to do this but the difference in string gauge is concerning me. Would going from the Carry-on roundwound 125-106-85-65 To the Kala Flatwound 109-89-69-49 Be an issue? Will I have to replace the nut?

I would string it with the lowest four strings of a 5 string set .135 to .065 to get better tension. I notice on their website it comes with .125 to .065 gauge strings which will provide more tension.
a luthier told me that if you use long scale or short scale bass strings, even if you cut them you won't be able to fix them on the head and in the keys
Hello! Did I just hear your bass buzz/hum at around 12:38? I'm asking because I have this exact bass and it's buzzing, too! I'm not sure if it's just the unit I got. I get rid of the buzz using a noise gate, but it would be nice to plug it directly without the buzz. Drives me nuts!
@@TitoKenRadio It shouldn't buzz unless you have a grounding issue (or interference) either with the bass or your home's electrical circuit. It's a split coil pickup which should be noise canceling. Have you tried it in another room, house or venue?
@@MyMusicMasterclass yes, I have. We already moved houses and I tried it all over the new place. I guess it really is a grounding issue with the bass itself. It's on its way to a luthier now. 🙌

Hello. Cool playing. What set of strings is available for this bass? 37-90 set of steel with taper at 23.5" scale. Hard to find... Or is it possible to get 90´s or 100´s without taper in the Tuning Head`s?
They changed the info on their site and it now says the set is 125-105-85-65. The scale is a tricky length and I haven't restrung it yet. Hopefully Blackstar starts to sell the strings, but I don't have a perfect answer for that question yet...
Sounds OK, but a little lacking in the low end, unsurprisingly. I still prefer the ukulele bass though--notwithstanding the floppy strings! You can get almost double bass sounds with one of those.
I think the way the pickup is placed is to make up for the fact short scale instruments have a tubbier sound. Lets you get the pokey sound that some full-scale basses have.
I'd get it in an instant if it had lighter gauge from the box, I expect short scale to feel a bit floppy, not like regular bass, I already have that. And new lighter strings for this scale are, like, half the price of the instrument.

@@k_levande Hi, I put on the Kala 0.06, 0.08, 0.10, 0.13 flatwounds - haven’t looked back. I didn’t have to make any nut adjustments.

Yeah, I have a ubass and an Ashbory. I love them for different reasons. This bass is more like an electric bass, so it serves a different purpose.

They discontinued this 8 seconds after introducing it, and it's six feet under. This cannot be found online.

Some sites say the scale is 20 inch , some say 23 inch. Looking for a 20 inch and this one would be perfect. Do you know?
This has a 23.46″ scale. Not sure you're going to find anything much smaller unless you get a u-bass, but those don't have metal strings.
