This ship will singlehandedly wipe out every space whale on Crusader. Leave it to Drake to build the verse's premier whaler. They'll open the top door and catch dead whales falling out of the sky. It'll be a massacre.
Dude, it's been more than a year, and we get FOUR VIDEOS in thee days. So awesome to see you back in here again, and we hope to see more content. Hope you've been doing well, dude! Love your content.
Welcome back, Law. As balanced and thoughtful as ever. Glad to have ya back. Looking forward to trying these 'birds' out in game, eventually. If I were to pick one up, I'd probably grab the assault variant, because I can see that repair bay being very handy to have. Also, pairing this with a Carrack will make long range exploration even more fun, as the Carrack will have the med bay, and this can carry extra ground vehicles and consumables for the long haul exploration missions.
I really like the Ironclad. It walks the line between a combat barge and a large freighter. Even the standard version is heavily shielded and armed, I can see player crews doing large cargo runs or bounty missions with this. There´s only 2 problems with this vessel: 1.) It´s yet another in-the-works concept. Apparently one CIG is a bit more invested in, but still. Which means: even under best circumstances it´s gonna be a while until we see this in-game. 2.) CIG said this ship is an important step in the development of the Kraken. Remember the Kraken? One of the slightly older designs and seemingly still FAR away from completion if they deem the Ironclad to be an importent go-between. Which pisses me a bit off considering that CIG happily once again charged a lot of money for the priviledge of one day maybe being able to command a Kraken or Kraken Privateer. Seeing that the next big ship planned for release, or should I say: the biggest yet that will be officially made fully available in the game - is the Polaris and among the "smaller" ships the Zeus class is shaping up as well.... the story of the Ironclad is promising, but that´s it. I almost bought into it but will hold off on any investment in this ship until it´s ready.
Yes. I almost broke down an bought this ship but I wanted a brand newly built custom PC first. I backed CIG heavy with lots of nice ships to show for it but my 10 year old PC is starting to show it's age and I still want to experience this game the way it was meant to be experienced, on a high end gaming PC with all the Virpil control gear. The Iron Clad will have to wait. Much rather have my Caterpillar converted into a flying machine shop once factory modules are available for it.
I think i prefer the later, more succinct, and accurate videos on new ships so I don't have to watch an announcement video, info video, and a revised info video after the AMA. Keep up the great videos!
I like how the ships you could carry in it are protected in the hangar. Even though it can't carry as many ships as the Liberator, and they would be more limited in size, this is a nice advantage of the Ironclad.
I really love the ironclad but I have a main concern that I hope they add to the assault and that is tractor beam/s. At least 1 internal to move incapacitated vehicles blocking the front ramp.
honestly it just needs a higher internal hangar area, from what i understand its not big enough to carry a vulture, and i would love to be able to carry a vulture in this thing and make it a mobile salvage yard
vulture, herald, ironclad and kraken are the only Drake ships i dont own or have owned. Ive always been a drake enthusiast, i love the design language of drake and their manufacturer priorities. but when the ironclad came out i wasnt all that jumped on it. sure its a nice all around ship, but i can already see now how many issues flying through atmosphere this thing would have. As an Expert caterpillar pilot, ive learned to space drift to perfection but this thing, oh mother of god the amount of drift foresighting one would have to anticipate in order to fly it, that would be on a whole other section of the scale. Nontheless it is still gonna be on my list to get in game. Hoping that in the future i would be able to manufactor just the hull and skip the cost of the command module since i already own a caterpillar. My only drawbacks from it are the crew size, the projected flight mechanics, projected running costs and the sheer size. Although i could see it as a nice supply barge once basebuilding is in the game.
I have it on buy back. I don't think it can compare to the liberator. You're severely limited but the ships you can take, I wanted this for my long vulture adventures but the ceiling is it too low to fit it. The liberator can fit the vulture and 2 other ships as well as a good amount of storage
Agreed. The 2 can both do ground vehicles sure. Both can do a fighter. The liberator however can carry almost 500 cargo while holding ground vehicles internally as well as 3 ships on its flight deck. Not to mention the liberator has the roll on roll off front back hangers the Hercules series has. Meaning replying said ground vehicles will be much easier. The ironclad wins with repair for its vehicles that fit and in cargo capacity if holding no ships. Totally different ships for different rolls in my opinion.
This was exactly the type of ship I was waiting for them to make, both versions look like they'll be great. I like the standard version for its tractor beams, which one is your favorite?
Appreciate the info and content as always. Nice to have you back 😊
Welcome back man! A group of us was just saying the other day, how we missed your insights! Glad you're back.
Awesome! Thank you!

You're spoiling us now
You're worth it!

Thanks for the upload. Tis indeed tempting. Really makes me wonder what else will and wont overlap in this size class in the future.
Glad you're back! And you're killing the content!
I must have died and gone to heaven where every day LotW posts a video

I got an upgrade from my Cat to an ironclad. Those cat modules are really gonna have to impress to keep me from applying that upgrade.
I have never wanted to get back into SC and spend some money as much as I do after watching this video. I love everything about that ship.
Too Late! I bought the Ironclad Assault... lmao! That first description is very on point.
This guy keeps making buyer's guides after I've already purchased it LOL
He's back!
With love, I preferred the pulse video, that made interesting points, I feel this just talked about it being big. But keep overall great content x
Welcome back. Great video always.
It an escort carrier. It reminds me of the border worlds carrier in Wing Commander IV.
I like how the ships you could carry in it are protected in the hangar. Even though it can't carry as many ships as the Liberator, and they would be more limited in size, this is a nice advantage of the Ironclad.
The escort carriers are the Idris or Polaris, this is a cargo ship

Great stuff.
Not even the Drake guy. But when I think "heavy space freighter" this is it.
Ironically I hate most Drake ships, including the cat, but I bought this instantly because I actually do love the look of it.
I feel like I won the California LOTW

Ah the caterpiller left to drown so they can sale something new!
Ironclad is love. Ironclad is life.
This... does kind of outmode the entire Hercules lineup without context...
Hail the battle barge!
This was exactly the type of ship I was waiting for them to make, both versions look like they'll be great. I like the standard version for its tractor beams, which one is your favorite?
lol, I got the upgrade the day it came out. I flipped when I saw this one.
Yup I want one!!
Thanks...
You rock.
How much does this one cost in real world money? $1500?
Too late. Already bought both.
Same, CCU chain for Liberator last year during IAE and CCUd a C2 to the base Ironclad. I have a CCU for the Assault variant.
Is anything real yet? Does armor matter? Are weapons different? Do shields work? How much longer? (I'm talking about ALL the ships)
When will they have 5 ships that joins together to form a robot?
rofl that intro 😂❤
hot dog do I love drake ships! idk what it is but they "get" me, yknow?
Does anyone know when it will release to the PU? I dont want to buy it with real money, ill just earn it ingame
The question is.. will it fit a hornet?
LAW!!!❤❤❤
Resurrection!
o7 Law!
*Rubs eyes* who is this guy? 😜
o7
Too late now, i bought it years ago.
