Imo I think even if they switch to using a projectile as opposed to hitscan, I think the projectile should still travel in a straight line. Just feels weird that it doesn't, and the Charge Rifle has always been sort of the odd weapon out. I do think this version of the gun is better than what we had previously, but they're also taking away what made it unique.
The projectile is still crazy fast. You’re never gonna be using it at the range shown in the clip so in practice you should barely even notice the drop.

Most likely due to the reverse-damage dropoff system. The gun can deal a lot of damage at long distance, so turning the hitscan laser into a projectile is more of a balance thing.

You need to hit that charge-delayed headshot to kill and the game's overall super low time-to-kill and high average movement speed meant that was a lot harder than it sounds. It was a meme weapon you used to flex on people because every other gun was easier to get pilot kills with (except the other anti-titan weapons)

Thank you respawn for making us an even more annoyance for the TTVs 🥰 We all started on Titanfall 2, so we already have mastered that charge rifle.

Because it has a battery charge , one and done the idea of the falloff is to do with light dissipation. Light intensity decreases with distance from source to receiving surface . It's called the inverse square law and although a bit silly it's actually very accurate and saves being absolutely Lasered from too far away without skill

Plus with the light dissipation and inverse square law the drop off makes total sense and is far more realistic. Even if the idiot player base has no idea what that is and what that means 😮

I am stoked for this. I wonder what a hit is gonna do for damage now. It definitely takes a way higher skill level to use this version. I HATED this gun from day one. Railguns are fast, but fire a block of metal. That is affected by gravity. You're saying that it should have travel time but shouldn't have bullet drop, even though that's exactly what a railgun is like? Either it's an incredibly fast railgun, so hitscan and no bullet drop, or a slower railgun with travel time and bullet drop. You can't have it both ways if you're trying to use the real world as an analog.
