In Australia we have D-max's and MUX's that use the same engine, so if you have any issues with building the engine or with the ECU just look for Australian shop manuals.
Parker you should give yanmar marine a call. Yanmar has so many different marinized versions of the Isuzu 4j series of engines. You can buy all of the marine components for your 4j that will last forever and be meant for your engine like the proper cast iron water jacketed exhaust manifold, all of the marine cooling system components for your engine like the raw/seawater water pump, heat exchanger, and components. You won’t have to mess with any of that janky automotive stuff and it is headache free, reliable, and the parts are easy to get right in Florida. Call up a yanmar tech or find a marine mechanic that services or sells yanmar marine engines. All it is is an Isuzu 4j that has been marinized with parts and systems that are meant for marine use. Way better bet than all that mess of valves and oil filter components and fittings you got going on.
