Just thought I'd share, skipping the de-boning part by just cutting it in half along the bone. Faster and easier! And ironing and even microwaving the ti leaves works fine. It becomes shiny. Also, you can make these lei's ahead of time and freeze em till the event. Aloha
talofa lava this is brilliant, thank you so much do you have any other tutorials on what you do, it would be helpful. I would really love to learn more styles. Your explanations are simple and clear.
Muhalo Suzasaki =] and hafa adai from Guam! Any suggestions in using rafia. I am doing a project, the same concept with Ti leaves but using rafia. I do not have enough Ti leaves for 25 teenagers. But I do have a lot of rafia. I can possibly use Ti leave just for the Haku part?
+Raquel K. I know this is kinda late, but what my aunties and I used to braid was green fabric. That way we manipulated the length of it to fit our waists. Is that what you meat by 'too short'? If not, sorry lol.
i really want to give this video a thumbs up but there's too much distraction and noise at the back i can barely understand and concentrate on what they're trying to teach.
Very informative. thank you to the woman who created the lei. The person controlling the video, on the other hand, sounded a little bi#c@y; her voice seemed to lack any compassion or appreciation for what was being created.
hi im making a presentitiong how to make haku but i need it to put it on a powerpoint so we need the write on a step by step i jst want to knw how to do it step by step
This was a group of moms preparing leis for our kids and not meant as a tutorial. I made it public simply to share the knowledge so please take your zero-aloha spirit elsewhere. Additionally, learn to spell before u throw shade.
TY sooo much, u've helped us alot!

Thanks for that tip! Saved me a ton of time :)
SoFknHi how long can you freeze them for?
Do you freeze all the leaves? Such as the diamond part to weave in? Or is it just the braid part?
super helpful! thank you! and I personally didn't mind the background noise :)
Thank you so much for this video! I'm trying to research the techniques used with natural materials so I can apply it to fabric
thank you for searing ! i've always wanted to make my own xx
Thank for posting this video, I was looking for something to make for my girls for hula dancing, thank you so much, this really helped alot.
Very pretty...
I love watching this video
question...what do you do when the three leaves for the braid reach the end? Do you add three more?
How do you store it to keep it fresh before initial use? Is making it a week before needed too soon?
does all the leafs including the add ons, be freezed as well
So you always add the fluff from the braid on the right?
Cameraman is fired..
Is this pretty much same thing how u make maile lei?
