I know most people won't buy new hardware, especially if their truck was cheap but you get what you pay for. I paid 270 dollars for a 1999 f150, and it needed 100 to get it road worthy. With that said, the drivers side door hinge and the hood latch failed two years after I bought the truck in 2017. I bought both replacements from my local Ford dealership. It wasn't hideously expensive, and my logic is that those pieces lasted 20 years in the northeast with all the snow and salt that comes with it, so they must be good quality. Time is money too, do you want to do the job once or a few times? I still own my truck, and it's now 25 years old with 212,000 on the clock, and I've not had to touch the hardware I've installed since I put in.
Your dog is great! I've always thought that most of the time the frost on the headlights is because people took their car to the car wash and used the spray wax.
I’ve replaced my s10 door pins twice and the same thing happened immediately afterwards, brass bushings broke. The last time I ended up welding flat washers onto the brackets which held the pins into place
@@99Projects I had no luck with brass bushings , like you said, maybe two weeks. Copper lasted longer , depending on how wallowed out the hinges are , tool steel seems to last ! Might have to order them specifically to size or get them turned on a lathe !!! 👍
Did you see the frame when he did the shock. Its a salted NY truck. It's days are numbered anyway. Around here you di what ya can to get a couple more years before it ends up at the scrap yard
Bruh you made me laugh with the ratchet on the door hinge pins I'm like what is bruh doing with a hand tool?... The hand tool is the 3 pound mini sledge to the door lol
I think it would last years at least. If you live in the north east, taking the age of those trucks into consideration it should easily out last the truck.
@@99Projects i live in ohio and yeah it’s actually the hinge is worse now so when i replace the bushing it don’t do much so i’m prob gonna just weld a bolt
I have A 2000 S10. Up until that year of production was a certain design. After production of the 2k modal was another design. 2k S10 are a poor design all the way around.
Please use jack stands when your working under a vehicle; a guy down the road from me dyed last year when his car fell on him.
yea i probably should do that, good advice
Or at least put the tires under the truck so it does not crush you
@99Projects lol sounds like the people I work with that'll just do there own thing anyway.
Yeah I a agree 👍 💯

Brass fittings are junk , go with copper or tool steel bushings !!!!!👍
Ya know tool steel is a good idea. I never thought about that

What about 04?
A good example of how frugality doesn't make you rich.
Not always but in this case it permanently fixed a problem
What a hack
