- The Klein Matterhorn is a peak of the Pennine Alps, overlooking Zermatt in the Swiss canton of Valais. At 3,883 metres (12,740 ft) above sea level, it is the highest place in Europe that can be reached by aerial tramway or gondola lift, as well as by any other means of transport.
This CZcams video is a gondola and cablecar trip on the Matterhorn Express - filmed in 4K - from Zermatt station to Klein Matterhorn station. This aerial cableway journey comprises both the Gondola service from Zermatt to Trockener Steg (taking in intermediate stops at Furi; Aroleid; Schwarzsee and Furgg), and the 3S Cable Car service from Trockener Steg to Klein Matterhorn.
Filmed in February 2022, at the height of the winter ski season, this cableway operates among several others to service the needs of skiers and winter tourists to ascend the awesome heights of the mountains which surround Zermatt and Breuil-Cervinia in Italy.
At Klein Matterhorn station ('Matterhorn Glacier Paradise') there are terrific views to be had on a clear day from the viewing platform at 3,883 metres - far reaching vistas of the Mont Blanc massif, Bernese Oberland, Aosta Valley, Breithorn; and the Matterhorn can also be seen.
I'm struggling to comprehend the amount of engineering excellence in this.
Yes is that one continous length of steel rope ??
@@hugoagogo4324No, they uncouple a few times to a new cable :)
Great video! This is the way to record it. No ridiculous silly background music to ruin the experience!
I don't know what's more inspiring--the scenery or the engineering.
Fantastic and very graceful movie and particularly all scenes are most beautiful and very admirable and also beautiful photography so thanks
33 years ago I enjoyed taking the trip up this mountain on a similar beautiful day, great memories.
Great work!! Nice Steady Hand! This is doo helpful.
The Swiss are expert engineers.
I took that cable car once and the conditions at the top were unbelievable, with 60mph winds and zero visibility. No chance of skiing down so we were all sent back down and the car closed. That is some serious altitude!
I took the lift 3yrs ago before Covid during the summer of 2019 (August). Blue sky everywhere and one gorgeous sight! Schöne Grüße aus Mittelfranken.
Was up there 2019. In the summer. Could sit on the balcony of my hotel room in Zermatt and watch Matterhorn. Amazing landscape in the summer too.
Brilliant video! Thank you so much for taking the time to share that with us. A+++
La Svizzera è tutta bella e soprattutto ben tenuta!!!!!
Man what a ride!
I've never been to visit, it looks so interesting and beautiful. What a marvel of engineering.
Great video!!!!
This does a great job at really showcasing the sheer size of some of the larger ski resorts in the alps. We have some large ski areas here in North America but nothing compares to this.
And That's just one part you're seeing. There are two other parts to the resort on the left side at the very beginning (Rothorn) of the video and when the gondola arrives at its first station (Riffelberg/Gornergrat). And there are two other parts on the italian side (Cervinia & Valtournenche) you can reach from the very top.
Wow, what a ride!! Each time it came to a way-point, I thought that was the end.....then it kept on going!!! Thank you for sharing this!!!!!
Amazing...thank you so much...you have bought back the memories of my skiing holiday in Zermatt...that Gondola ride just goes on and on....you get to the top and you'd be lucky to not experience altitude sickness. That ride to the top is often cancelled due to high winds which are frequent there. But skiing back is incredible...you can ski right beside the Matterhorn...you look to your left and all you see is this majestic mountain...it is the best piste in Europe...It takes so long to get to the top and it is so quick to get to the bottom...so I always tried to stop frequently to take in the views, and also stop for a Weiss bier or Jaegertee and enjoy the descent....great video...The Swiss are great engineers!
Yeah. Best piste and best ski resort in the world I think.
I skied a non-stop from there all the way back to Zermatt because I knew I'd likely never encounter that much vertical again in my lifetime. Great skiing as well as going down the Italian side to Cervinia.
True
It's like skiing to the edge of the Earth! Awesome place
Amazing ride Thank you
Amazing
I was there in 1980/81, it was about a year after it opened. Phenomenal views and experience
Need comeback next year
Espetacular. Eu ainda vou fazer esse passei. Obrigado por compartilhar essa viagem. Ceará - Brasil.
An amazing video! I have seen thousands of youtube videos but this video is one of the 5 best. I am sorry though that they cut the video twice towards the end, and that they did not keep us longer at the very top, looking around.
INCREDIBLE!!!! Thanks,
Ya'll I rode this a few years ago (I was 16) . I am deathly afraid of heights and didn't realize this was the 'highest gondola in europe,' Either way, i was willing to do it because my dad and I were doing a father-daughter ski trip and he wanted to ski the Italian side so I wanted to go with him... Well, I was okay until we got over the little knoll at 30:32 and once we got over it you were just suspended over this expanse and ya'll I lost my shit! I was crying, shaking, blubbering in the most undignified fashion.. to make matters worse it was very windy that day so they had to stop the car multiple times for safety and so we were swinging back and forth in this wind and I thought I was going to die! Thankfully, my dad was very empathetic and he held me the whole time while I was blubbering in his ski jacket. I ended up braving this journey 4 times and forth journey I was even able to open my eyes to look out which is alot for me considering my fear of heights lol....
Mostly it is not the high, but the high you can fall from. Maybe you have heard it thousand of times, but this is the first thing I remember to say 😁
Awesome. Full watch 👍👍👍 ciao from italy 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
🚶✌️👍🇨🇭❤️
✋ Extra, good job 👌🤝
Wow nice view, I like to see new places ✌
Great movie 👍 Bravo 👋
And I have a new movie from a walk around the city 😊
Regards, DJ Janusz from Warsaw Poland ✌ 🇵🇱✋
Спасибо за ваши видео !!! Очень красиво !!!
beauty.
Very impressive indeed - we have our chalet in Val d’Anniviers which also gives you a view on the Matterhorn (from a different angle)
It's unmistakable from any angle, Mont Blanc dominates too. It's such a wonderfully scenic part of the world.
Thos is soo beautiful and relaxing to watch - thank you for uploading this video for us - I did subscribe to your channel
Switz-German Made. . always....Top Crafted....it is amazing they made this over 100 years ago 😊....the same with Electronics 😊.... always made Good 😊. ..wish they would go back doing that 😊... Switzerland is one of the best in Europe
It was just like this April 4th 2022. Can’t wait to do it again.
I used that 2 weeks ago after a few runs down from the Italian side where the snow was better.
thanks
Le téléphérique de l'aiguille du Midi à Chamonix s'élève aussi presque à la même altitude (3842 mètres) ...
Simon, ¿ En qué mes has grabado estas secuencias ? Saludos.
Febrero 2022
Any idea of the temperature? at the bottom? top?
Uau
Thank you Swiss beautiful guys 😍🤗, but Octopus does not want help from spiderman 🤗(😁🖤)
Sveicieni Matterhornam ar lieliskajām trasēm tā pakājē, un pasakainajam Zermatt ciematiņam!!
Amazing place! What are the skill level options for skiing down?
It's mostly intermediate slopes (red). The slopes are not very difficult, as in they are often very wide, and not insanely steep. What makes them more difficult is the height (it's more exhausting to ski above 3000 meters above sea level), the conditions (it can be very cold and windy) and the length of the slopes.
Do people who live in those areas use the system to go to work or grocery shopping?
This cableway is mostly used by skiers in winter and hikers in summer to get up to the higher altitudes - Zermatt itself (which is tiny) has an electric bus service to get around during ski season

The cost ?
Combien de stations en tout, dans cette ascension, c'est vertigineux ?
5 stations, mais on ne doit changer qu'une fois de téléphérique
From the top you can climb the Breithorn, one of the easiest over 4000m high Mountains
RCE come here!!!
there's an actual crane at the very top. what else could they be building way up there?
Currently under construction is a new cablecar station to connect Klein Matterhorn in Switzerland with Testa Grigia in Italy - just across the border
Happy weekend everybody, wishing you enjoy sharing such a great hug Mother Earth admiring her never ending beauties, l think she needs love like each one of us and such spectacular shootings might help, big loving hug all mountain lovers
Why isn't the other cable-car system to the left used??
Back in the day it was used for getting up to the mountain but now it has no use or maybe it transports food to the mountain my best guess
It's sometimes used during off-season and if this cable-car maintenance work. But the smaller continuous cabins just get more people away than a tramway.
auf fast 4000m im Steilhang einen Baukran aufstellen, das muss man auch erst mal drauf haben.
I had no idea pine beetle has hit europe as bad as it is here in Canada. Look at all those dead trees. Devastating
They're not actually dead, most of the trees here are deciduous conifers, meaning they lose their needles in fall and grow them back in spring. Makes for quite the show in the fall.
Pine beetles sound quite devastating, would be scary to have them here.
Looks like Larch to me:

That video was a religious experience
Fabuleux, inoui !!!
not much snow, sadly, if you ask me
It was April , end of season
Ski Paradise on the other side in Italy, ski for about 1/3 the price as Zermatt, plus southern exposure. Ski Cervinia!
Catholic Jesus hanging at the top. Good ole Jesus.
So ? what ?! ya Covidiots !!!
Mad videography skills shooting directly into the sun. A different time of day for this video journey wouldn't have worked? Otherwise, tremendous ride!
do not watch if you do not like it!!
The angle of the sun does change throughout the video as the gondola turns up the mountain - low sun in February - can't be helped. Glad you enjoyed the ride, I did too!
Well, Switzerland is actually not in Europe lol
The fuck you talking about? If course Switzerland is in Europe, it's just not in the European Union.
Europe is the continent.
This gondola is ridiculously slow. They call it express, but it takes forever to move from bottom to the top. I spent more than 3 hours riding this ridiculous lift today. Should have gone to the other side of the resort. Won't recommend this gondola. Very slow.
that's the dumbest thing I read today
well, smart guy. have you been on that gondola before?@@hcdhcdhcd41
