- In this video we explore Hanoi Vietnam for the first time and share our first impressions. This city blew us away! It can be overwhelming and we experienced culture shock in the best way possible. This city has an amazing energy that made us fall in love with it.
In this video we check out some of the top tourist attractions and show you how to spend a perfect day in Hanoi. We start the morning seeing amazing street art at Phung Hung Mural Street, trying out Hanoi specialty coffee (iced coconut coffee and egg coffee) at Coffee A. We explore the Old Quarter streets, admiring the unique architecture influenced by the French, and improve our skills crossing the street with crazy traffic and no street lights. In the afternoon we check out Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi Opera House, and St.Joseph Cathedral before grabbing lunch. We had lunch at Phở bưng Hàng Trống, a hidden gem in Hanoi serving delicious and cheap beef pho. We ended the day visiting the famous train street, where you can grab a drink watching trains go by.
Hanoi quickly became one of our favorite cities in South East Asia. It has a charm that is indescribable.

Such a fun city, right!? We were so thrown back at the 50/50 mix of the french influence and the Vietnamese style!
It’s now one of our favourite cities in South East Asia! We loved it!! 🥰
@@Roadmap2Adventures Did you guys go on a weekend? When the old quarter is closed off to cars
~ Hello. Thank you. Great. Video.
~ I.lo ve you.💖😘😘 Viet Nam.👍💪💪
Thank you! We are happy to hear that you enjoyed it!
I've seen others visit the mural, but you guys were you only ones to mention and show that it's just a 2D mural, but is actually 3D in some parts and has more depth, texture. Really interesting and I think the murals are beautifully rendered with the Vietnamese scenes of life.
Thank you! We really enjoyed the murals and wanted to capture their beauty !
Great video for your candor about Hanoi. But FYI nowadays you see these deep fried stick doughs as side dish with pho, they are Chinese that came along few years back. Real original Northern pho don't have much condiments like today.
That’s interesting! Thanks for sharing. That was actually the only time we were served the deep fried stick doughs with our pho and we ordered pho a lot in Hanoi and other places in Vietnam.
Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺! New subscriber here! Great video guys! You two are absolutely adorable 🥰. Love how charismatic and respectful you guys are while willing to try so many new things. Glad you are having an awesome time in my home country ❤.
Can’t wait to see what adventures you get up to. To be able to travel with your partner is a true blessing. Keep up the great work.
Hello! Welcome to our channel. Thank you for subscribing and your kind words. We have many more videos we’ll be posting soon from Vietnam. We travelled north to south for one month and had an amazing experience. It is now one of our favourite countries we have travelled to!
The legendary turtle in that lake passed away not sure when, but a lot of people (mainly females) cried when they got news of the turtle passing. Now he is in a museum in Hanoi somewhere....I think.
Oh no! That’s so sad. We just looked it up and saw that it passed away in 2016. ☹️
The turtles is stuffed along with another huge turtle and they are now preserved on the lake (where the red bridge and museum/shrine are).
hihi helo you😊
The train street was closed for tourists two years ago because the authority concerned for their safety. There was no accident occurring at that time. However, some tourists weren’t afraid of the train in order to take a photograph, therefore the authority wanted to avoid any incidents. Now they continue to limit the schedule of train passing. It only happens at night.
I can see how some tourists would put themselves in danger unfortunately for that “perfect photo” and why they would close it for safety however I think there is probably a better way to ensure safety and still allow cafes there to get tourists. What’s strange is that there is police during the day in the week when there are no trains, however in the evening when there are trains there is no police presence and still a lot of tourists. We did not understand the logic and the cafe owners seemed pretty frustrated too.
I heard a Korean tourist did something foolish and got hurt, which is why they closed down train station. However, like they said, you can still get onto the tracks if invited by the cafe owners...which is their way to circumvent the law and still do business.
LOVED this! Gives us tons of ideas for when we go!
So happy to hear you found it helpful! If you have enough time when you go we highly recommend doing the Ha Giang loop. We did it with Cheers Hostel from Hanoi and it was one of our favourite travel experiences !

~ Hello. Thank you. 💖
~ I.lo Ve you.💖 Ha Giang. Viet Nam.👍
like you😊
I've seen a lot of videos about Hanoi and saw only cursory/glancing comment about the long mural but your video showed the intricacies and details behind the mural which makes it a lot more impressive. Our family also like Hanoi due to its unique appearance, architectural, culture and people. Too many other cities in SE Asia try to look like a Western city and Hanoi is maintaining its unique tangible and intangible identity.
Thank you! We’re happy to hear you liked the mural segment in our video. It’s an impressive part of the city, we loved it. We completely agree! We hope Hanoi will continue to maintain its authenticity and charm. We personally liked Hanoi more than Ho Chi Minh city.
@@Roadmap2Adventures funny you mentioned HCMC, I feel the same way as you, and I lived and worked for 10 years in HCMC before moving back to the States. I hope you enjoy VN, it’s friendly people, its delicious food at great prices, it’s awesome distinctive cafes, beautiful and diverse scenery/topography. Safe travels.
Wonder how up to date this video is because I read last week that Hanoi brought back there mask mandate. Street looks so very slow. Hope you have working air condition in your hotel ‘/ Airbnb. Lunch looked delicious. Bummer on the train because last year they allowed tourists on the track. Train ran a few times during the day and night 7 days a week. Outstanding walking tour video and Outstanding job
Thanks so much! In the end we were still able to visit train street in the evening. This video was filmed a month ago on March 22nd. We have a little bit of a backlog with our videos on CZcams. At that time there were no rules about masks. We also read some news about a mask mandate for indoor public places like public transportation and for workers in places with direct contact with customers like beauty salons, supermarkets, etc.
No mandatory face mask wearing in Hanoi and Vietnam now. Vietnam lifted all of the covid-19 measures in May last year.
Lol. Thumbnail Photoshop? Look again!
I dont think you can make it there guy, you are already sweating in the video.
