I have been using canvass boards instead of stretched canvaas and when I try doing a mountain, the. Board shows thru and ruins my mountain, any reason why?.

Try going with a little thicker paint. I find if I don’t use enough paint, I have that same problem 😃

What size of Wooster hatch an, and Wooster Amber brushes did you recommend.

I use 1” Wooster Yachtsman brushes. Some folks also use the same brush in 2”, but I’ve found that besides for blending, I just prefer the 1”.
For my fan brushes I prefer the Simply Simmons brand from Michael’s in size 6, size 4 and size 3.
My filberts, flats, liners, I prefer Master’s Touch synthetic hog brushes from Hobby Lobby or Princeton Aspen synthetic hog from Michael’s. I have a variety of sizes for all these brushes ranging from size 0s to size 6s.
      Hope this helps!

When you mix so many colors together don’t you end up with a muddy mess.?.

The idea isn’t to mix the paints on the canvas as it is to layer the paint. This is accomplished by making each “layer” of paint slightly thinner than the one before. If I see that I’m having trouble and the paint doesn’t want to layer and wants to actually mix, I’ll stop and allow the painting to dry a few days. After a little dry time, my next layers are a bit easier to apply without mixing
