I actually liked Dairou when he came out. He shot fireballs with his feet and Deadly Alliance had concept art about him. He just wasn't utilized properly.
Honestly I really liked dairou. He had a really cool moveset and design. To me if he was just more fleshed out and not another mercenary, he'd be an amazing addition to the series.

Dairou for me, is a 5/10 with the potential to be a lot more. Think about it, he's a Mercenary who's from a realm where you get imprisoned for life for ignoring a curfew you didn't know about, who was imprisoned for killing the man who killed his family. There's a great start there, then you add in that all of his friends and colleagues basically left him behind, and that the man he's working for now, is the man who got his family killed. That right there is a great character backstory, and could easily lead to him fighting both Hotaru and Darrius. The problem, is that after being labeled a Mercenary, he was kinda just left as one, and not developed. Imagine a redemption story similar to Scorpions, someone who fights for neither good or bad, but for himself against those that wronged him. Lots to work with, but little actually done with it.
It makes sense that Dairou is Havik now. Dairou basically wants chaos because the Orderealm did him dirty when all he did was take justice for his family.
His story is decent but dead moveset and design tbh. But I think we need some representatives of the less popular realms in MK like the Orderrealm, Spiritrealm, Chaosrealm etc in the newer mk games.
Dairou... Kai... Tsu Hao... Kira... Hotaru... Darius... Stryker... Movado... Jarek... even Kobra! I like basic characters with less superhero-like powers tbh. They’re human. Merely Mortal. I’d rather follow them through their backstories than the main anymore. I think the gods & demons & Khans & bosses should remain terrifyingly lofty.
The problem is not with Dariou himself but the whole deal with chaos and order realms. they did not add alot of impact in reality, if there was a game more focus in a conflict between the two i fell we can save all these characters. Darius is just a mercenary but in his endings he is shown to be honorable still. Hell what mercenary character end up taking Outworld ruling in a peaceful way and making an alliance with edenia and earthrealm? that dont seem evil or neutral to me.
BTW yeah i know these endings are not canon and all but still show potencial, a mercenary place in the middle of two extremes, chaos and order, good and evil, i feel there was some potencial with this
I would agree with your points. Order and Chaos Realms seem like outliers in the MK series and they are barely mentioned. I don't remember any characters from either realm being referenced until Aftermath when Shang Tsung sent Geras to Havik.

Dairou is a pretty good character in the Mortal Kombat series. However his appearance was limited because he was in only two games (three if you count Mortal Kombat: Unchained). He needs to make a comeback either in MK12 or MK13. Overall I give him I'd say... 5.5/10.

He has a good fatality. Design is decent, good gameplay, but needs better special attacks. Lore wise he's pretty much underused. 5/10 but I would play as him again if reworked.

Decent story, I think his change in view of the law is kinda cool and could be expanded on. His look and design is boring fosho and his move set other than his blade doesn’t seem very interesting. The entire order realm squad is trash at this point and they all need to be spiced up and made dope cus the concept of contrast with the chaos realm is a solid idea.

Overall Dairou is a 4.5 out of 10, decent story, his moveset is kinda neat (not that many characters shoot projectiles via kicks) and adds a bit to MK's Mid Card scene plus showcasing how OrderRealm's politics run, could use a little more fleshing out admitedly.

Quick fix, Give him hotaru's design, his move set is alright his fatality might be better if the game had better graphics (jax had a similar fatality in mkx) make his fireball look better than him pissing out a yellow fidget spinner make the tombstone drop Less slapstick looking, his backstory is not the worst just don't make him a damm mercenary in his ending
Not a whole lot was revealed about Dairou when he debuted in Deception, but for me he was still a staple of the 3D era (DA to Armageddon) of MK...for some reason lol. Honestly he's not THAT bad, kinda like him. Generic, but not without potential. 5/10.

He had some big damage combos to make up for his lack of decent specials. Some of the combos were a pain to pull off & you had to get in very close.
