  • Walking the streets of Preston in search of a place to sleep, Robert noticed a sad girl who seemed to need help. Daring to speak to her, the homeless man learned that her name was Dominique, and that she was having a bad night.

    As a homeless person myself, it's hard to avoid being broken by it, most of us aren't fortunate enough to have will strong enough to keep it from beating us down into a rut that we can't get out of. This man I'm positive with remember the blessings she brought on him for the rest of his life, and will pass on those blessings to others that are in the same place. And I am just one case that can verify that it honestly does happen. Even if not often enough it seems, miracles do happen, though most often from the tiniest seemingly inconsequential gestures of genuine kindness from those that have nothing but still give because in the heart we're the richest^~^

And expecting nothing in return you need to be kind hearted to other people and if you can help help them. @bararobberbaron859 Před 2 lety +4

      If I wanted to give an awful ex-employee a bad reference and let the next employer know what they were potentially letting themselves in for I'd just offer a phone reference instead of a written one, you can say what you like then.

    • @TheDevilWAH
      @TheDevilWAH Před 2 lety

      This is not true all it states is
      "The reference has to be accurate. Your employer can’t say anything that’s not true.
      They also have to be fair when they decide what to put in the reference. For example, they can’t say you were investigated for stealing if the investigation decided you hadn’t done it."
      and it is on the person giving the refrence to prove the truth. You cant simple state "he was always late" as there may be unknown reasons that would not affect them in their new role. But if they have been given a written warning for abusive language in the office for example, then you can put "he has some times stuggled to control his language around the office".
      You can give a bad refrence but unless you word it very carfully you can leave your self open to getting sued and can be very hard to defend and costly to your career. So generaly not a good idea.

    great story; back when I was a raging alcoholic I got the reputation of being a soft touch(someone who will fall for a good sob story) amongst the hobos that came into the bar. One night a guy came in and talked for a couple of hours and by the end I gave him 20$ and he left. About 4 yr. later I was there( I was like Norm from the show Cheers) and a guy came in wearing a three-piece suit looking very sharp well-groomed. He came up and sat down and said "You don't remember me do you" I said no I don't he told me that 4 yr's ago I gave him 20$ and it got him home and my advice had gotten him to back to school. He said he had passed the bar and was now a lawyer. At the time when I gave him the money he asked how he was going to pay me back, I told him to pay it forward, he had but came back just to let me know. yes this is a true story, it was about 1982 so a long time ago.

    It's one in a million. I sheltered 12 homeless persons. They robbed me and vanished but one. Now he doesn't look at me. My house is almost empty. I lost my job and my car, I eat three times a week because I struggle to pay my little house. I don't have the right to social help because I'm not homeless. My sons don't come to visit me any more. My family think I'm a looser. The only help I receive comes from my parents, moral help.

      no, its not one in a million, it's one in two. Life needs due diligence, and over time I figured out there's all kinds of people I shouldn't be "helping", like gypsy mafia or addicts. It's not that I judge them, it's that there are other, specific ways they can get help if they want, but usually they don't want. If you get them some food 5 minutes later it tends to be on the pavement. If you offer a couch you might be accused of the worst ulterior motives. Let people with 2 houses and millions in the bank offer high value things to the volatile groups

    There are many selfless people living on the streets all around the world. They just need a hand up, not a hand out. If you want to help the homeless, start by talking with them, not down to them and listen. Don’t judge, just listen. You may be surprised when you hear how they became homeless. No one choose’s to be homeless, but they do choose how they’re going to deal with being homeless.
    My husband and I were homeless for 7 months, if not for the kindness and love of family, we would have had to sleep in our van. We would have had to give up our aquatic turtle, Murtle. We also had a beautiful kitty, Samson, who survived an apartment building fire. We lost 2 cat’s, a small aquatic turtle and all of our belongings. It was a miracle that we survived the fire! Thank God, the owner’s of our apartment building gave us the opportunity to show them that we were good tenants and that we had been unjustly evicted from our previous apartment. The fire was in November of 2009. We were evicted from our apartment in May of 2011. We’ve been in our present apartment, since November of 2011. When our 2 kitties pass away, my husband wants to give our aquatic turtle, Murtle to neighbors so we can live and travel in our van. I’m not sure about living in our van, but I love the idea of traveling around the country. We could visit our family who live in different states around the country. This may happen within the next 2 years.

    Reminds me on an incident where a young lady was scared to get off the train at night during the Yorkshire ripper's killing spree and we gave her our last five pounds to catch a cab....but this represented no sacrifice on our part we just empathized with her plight. Any half decent person would have done the same.

    Having been homeless on the streets all over Southern Connecticut in my youth. I know how far a caring stranger's help can take a person down and out. I've run into dozens of homeless people who have been dealt pretty shitty blows. Most of them are kind hearted, generous people. I hope more people can find help like this.
