  • This time, we stopped in the small city, colourful city of Passau, Germany. The city lies very close to the Austrian border and is also the point where THREE major rivers - the Ilz, Danube, and Inn - meet!
    From a stunning cathedral to the charming old town, we had a really relaxing time exploring the city when we visited at the start of September! We even got the chance to hike up to the Veste Oberhaus - a fortress that is over 800 years old - and enjoyed a drink with amazing views! Passau is also a popular stop for Danube river cruises so if you're visiting Passau (for whatever reason), this video should give you a snapshot of what to expect!
    Of course, here are our articles with lots of tips for travelling to Passau. We'll add more as we publish them:

    The cathedral in Passau is always under renovation, especially the gothic part. I never saw it without scuffholding and I lived there for almost 50 years❤️❤️

    The city is lovely indeed. The cathedral is a must see, for sure. When I visited Passau it was being displayed the Cathedral history, through projections and classical music, always held on Fridays nights. It was in October 2019... I don't know if it is still there. If so, it's something that shan't be missed!! Loved Passau!!! Great vid!! Lots of love from Brazil!!

    "The cathedral was under renovation when we visited". Rule of thumb, cathedrals are always under renovation, so there's almost no way you'll ever see them without scaffolding :P

    I really liked the video. Great job! What about nightlife? Any cool bars or pubs? Were there riding paths along the river for bicycles? I live in Bavaria and have been wanting to get down there but haven’t been to Passau yet. It looks great.

    • @Penguinandpia
      @Penguinandpia  Před 3 lety

      Hey Kevin! Thanks for the kind words. It's definitely worth checking out. We didn't get a chance to experience the nightlife but from what we know there's a decently sized student population so there is a nice little nightlife scene to explore. As for paths, there is a path along the Danube - we saw loads of bikes parked in our hotel and around town. Let us know if you end up heading there! :)

      Kevin, the "Donauradweg" is well-known, easy, quiet and cheap places to sleep. You can cycle down to Budapest or even further on. There is a good selection of "night life". 12000 students want to be entertained. Try "Camera", or "Irish Pub" or.... Just ask young people strolling around the campus... Enjoy your stay in my home town!
