Very thorough as always. Chris. I’m glad you mentioned how important the USB cable is. I have been using the paid LR plugin for a couple of years and when I upgraded from an X-T3 to X-T5 I thought the tethering just didn’t work on the X-T5 because I used the same USB cable that worked with the X-T3. One day I tried a Thunderbolt 4 cable and the X-T5 connected very quickly. I didn’t realize the old USB-C cable was working but it was so slow that I gave up and assumed something else was wrong. Unfortunately the price of these cables is not cheap, but well worth it if you are going to do tethering.
Thanks for putting in all the time to test and document these issues. You are a wealth of information.

I’ve used XT-5 and Fujifilm X app on the 12.9 m2 iPad in the field, that has a live view option, was as sluggish as a mule but it did the job I suppose. One thing I say the app is 100 times more connective than with my older version of camera/app which is with the XE-3

Not sure I understood, before watching this, what tethered shooting was and I doubt I’ll be using it. I’m also not an Adobe user. Given those two issues why did I still enjoy the video so much? Thanks, Pal2tech, always good.

Thank you. An nice illustration of how Fuji views software development. As a digital designer it plain to see how poorly this app is designed. Features before UX, a guaranteed way to below par software. What Fuji need to realize is that users do not interact with cameras via hardware. We interact via software. You are a software company now. Hardware is becoming more and more standardized.

Like every 1st version of anything, confusing and lacking however, it might be a step on the right direction for Fuji, that being said, unless you don’t have the possibility of buying it, C1 offers a more stable platform.

The cable speed difference is definitely intriguing… My guess is that the slow one is not the same spec as the camera max transfer rate. My GFX 50S II has a USB3.2 Gen1x1 port per Fuji’s specs, capable of 5 Gbps (gigabits per second), or 625 MBps.

Another great educational video. Tethering has been a huge bugbear for me because when using the previous version of the paid for software I experienced lots of windows opening each time I shot an image. This was super irritating. However, I will try to follow your suggested set up and see how that works. Thanks again.

Outstanding info as always. Think you could do a lil summary of all the different Fuji apps? There's so much more than I realized, and I've never really understood the point of many of them. Feels like I'm missing the full potential of my camera by ignoring most of the apps.

Thanks for the great tutorial !!! I like it much better than the X Acquire app. I shoot portraits in a studio and like the subject(s) to view the photos as I shoot them. One thing that would be nice is to be able to go into full screen mode from the tethering app, because it is a bit slower to have to wait for the photos to show in LrC.

I wish the X-App smartphone app was better. It lost connection easier than the Canon app I used to use, and it wouldn't give me a preview after I shot, as well as being incredibly difficult to view the image after I shot when going into the playback menu. I'm working on getting a Camranger but it's a bummer it didn't work that well because Camranger is a little overboard for most of my shooting.

I hope someone will set me straight if I get this wrong. Many FUJI cameras have a wifi connection, but there's no way to transfer images from camera to my Windows PC other than using a USB cable. Ideally the camera should show up as a drive on my PC, allowing me to move/copy files at will via the wireless connection. Please...someone tell me how to do this!
