    Welcome to part 70 of a commentary playthrough I will be doing for the remastered edition of Final Fantasy X. We finally get inside the ancient Blitz stadium in Zanarkand, and witness some moments from past summoners and their guardians. The final cloister of trials is completed, and the elevator leading down to the hall of the final summoning is activated...

    I don't think I noticed the fact that the Zanarkand Temple is the Blitz stadium, but it makes sense in context. After all, the traditional Yevon genuflection was revealed by Tidus to be the Blitzball sign for victory.

    Defender Z drops Lv3 Key Spheres. By this point your characters will have maxed out their sphere grid paths and some of them need the rare drop to keep going.

      I came to comment this....5 years after you! It's only a 12-13% chance of dropping, but it is highly valuable. However, they are time consuming to fight.

    Just wanted to thank you for this video series. FFX is still one of my favorite games to this day and I've played through it countless times. However I never actually knew or cared about certain easier ways to win some of these battles. Makes me want to do a NSG playthrough so I'll learn some of these. Items like TKO and Deathtouch/Zombie attacks I never use in my games and I always suffer through some of the tougher enemies. I also always try to train everyone so I make a lot of battles harder than they need to be. It's amazing how much I'm still learning about this game to this day.

    Defender Z is useful tho. He drops Lvl 2 and rarely drops Lvl 3 Keyspheres. I'm also at this point in the game, but spheregrid wise Im muuuch further along so I've been farming this guy for AP and Keyspheres

    It's not entirely trial and error in Zanarkand. You can see a slight difference in tint on each floor tile, and you can infer which shapes are possible given where each tile is. There's a little trial and error to it, but it's not just completely blind at least.

    My congrats on solving four out of five puzzles on the first try! This Cloister of Trials is truly 'trial and error' for me. But I'm terrible at memory games like this. I've solved it more than once before, it's just a pain for me every time.

    There is something that has always bothered me at this point of the story: Seymour and his mother. As WE kill Seymour I guess that he hasn't faced Sin, so his mother never became the final summoning fayth. Actually we can guess from this part that she became Anima's fayth if we remember Seymour's aeon from the Blitzball tournament. So knowing this what are they doing here????? I don't know, for me it doesn't fit into the Anima sidequest story.

    • @Dansg08
      @Dansg08  Před 9 lety +10

      +Maxime Tauran You've got the story slightly wrong here. Seymour and his mother visit Lady Yunalesca (when Seymour is still a child), and Seymour's mother sacrifices her life to become Seymour's final aeon, Anima (much like Jecht did for Braska). So Seymour has a powerful aeon that could potentially be used to defeat Sin, but he never uses it. It remains as a powerful aeon that is at his disposal. So Seymour's mother IS the fayth for a final summoning, but one that ultimately never gets used. I'll move on to some speculation about this stuff just for the hell of it.
      I'm not sure why Yunalesca allowed Seymour and his mother to do this since there is no evidence of Seymour making any kind of summoner's pilgrimage, by that logic Yuna could have just gone with Kimahri straight from Besaid and got a final aeon. Not only that, it seems that based on this tactic any person with a strong bond (mother, son, daughter, lover etc) can just go to Yunalesca and gain themselves a really powerful aeon. Maybe the process of going on a pilgrimage makes the bond so strong that the final aeon created is that much more powerful (and maybe the process of obtaining a final aeon has a success rate, perhaps it doesn't always work), so maybe Anima was never strong enough to defeat Sin, but we'll never really know...

    • @maximetauran3415
      @maximetauran3415 Před 9 lety +3

      dansg08 Ok i get it now thanks ^^. But I am not sure to agree with the fact that Anima is Seymour's final aeon as he didn't die from summoning it at Luca and at Macalania. Or maybe it is because the bond between Seymour and his mother got weeker by the time he grew up and became darker. I don't know, what do you think?

    • @Dansg08
      @Dansg08  Před 9 lety +6

      Maxime Tauran You die when you summon the final aeon against Sin. Seymour never faced Sin, hence he didn't die :)

    • @ItsSVO
      @ItsSVO Před rokem

      @@maximetauran3415 The summoner does not die by simply summoning the final Aeon. When it defeats Sin, Yu-Yevon then takes over the Final Aeon which severs the connection between it and the summoner which is what actually kills them.

    Paused Video at 4 Minutes: The Defender Z enemy (Big stone guy he skips at start) has a rare drop of a lvl. 3 Key Sphere.
    Lvl 3 is likely the one you've seen the least of by this point, I remember I needed about 4 of them. The Enemy has high health but if Tidus Provokes it then the battle is easy - Just sit there hitting it til it dies - it will just hit TIdus with a percentage based attack every turn that can never actually kill.

    I can't remember alot of this game but you wanna know how I beat most difficult fights? I poured all my sphere's and stuff into BAHAMUT because he was the only one who could go higher then 9999 damage. So I basically used him for every difficult fight.

      Actually no her's specifically only does that for valefor. Also the aeon damage cap break doesn't require you get the full weapon. Just the crest upgrade. Doing this with yuna immediately upon getting to the calm lands and getting a cap breaking energy blast valefor goes a long way for the two actually somewhat difficult fights before the airship.

    I am a bit ann... curious, as far as I remember spells like Cure/Cura and Life would work just as well as potions and phoenix downs on zombified enemies. Dansg08 mentioned not having that many PD, well then use Life on them. MP might be a thing maybe? Oh well...

      You got the Defender Z which drops level 2 and sometimes level 3 key spheres but what I did is doing the fight with Yenke and biran, I spent pretty much the entire match healing myself and learning all of the special skills for kimahri. Then I spent the time stealing level 3 key spheres. Now understand this is after my second playthrough of the game and realizing that finding level 3 key spheres is very difficult.
