The first JP collab set made Tyrannocon a Decepticon, and the vehicle was an Autobot. I think they're just doing a "Humans vs Dinosaurs" concept, since the humans were depicted as the underdogs in the movies (though if you ask me, the humans in those films are the villains).

I absolutely love Dilophocon. It's just simple, but effective as a transforming toy, and my copy's joints are nice and tight. Also: The Hardhat accessory can be kept throughout the transformation, and I basically don't take off that bit on my copy when I transform him. (Although the barbasol latch underneath is kind of loose on mine).
I don't know why they're not retooling Dilophocon into an Iguanus. Can also be turned into a Croc BW Megatron. Even better: could have been turned into a Demogorgon for the Stranger Things collab (a missed oppourtunity).
Well I absolutely enjoyed them in fact I was thrilled when the set was first announced and was happy to get them last Christmas and felt like a kid again cuz I used to get the Jurassic Park toys for Christmas as a kid.
I don't think I've ever before looked at a figure - let alone two - and thought it would have been better served by being a remold. Specifically of Kingdom Dinobot and either Siege Hound or Legacy Skids.
I know for many the Dinosaurs were the main draw of these sets, but my favorite of the 2 duos is Nedrybot. You can actually transform him with the hat on! I like him a lot but I do feel like sometimes I'm going to break him when I transform him.
I ordered 2 once it went on sale on Amazon but Jurassic Park was literally the first movie I can remember watching and I’m a huge fan. I’d like to see Hasbro do a velociraptor and a spinosaurus figure but I’m not sure what Autobots you could make to pair with them. Maybe that boat from JP3 to go against the spino?
What would the alt-mode be? A basketball? Also have an Al McWhiggin from Toy Story 2. He has a beast mode that resembles the chicken costume he wears in that movie. Newman from Seinfeld can be the mail van.
I actually have the first set of the Transformers x Jurassic Park crossover set. The one with the T-Rex and the electric jeep. I would love to get my hands on this set if I can find it.
As a Jurassic Park nerd I had to get this set but JP12 is easily the weakest of the 4 JP crossover figures. Would have preferred a Dinobot retool velociraptor and a Hound with this color scheme to match the open top jeep from the t rex chase scene retooled to turn into Malcom, and then cut the price since it wouldn't be entirely new molds.
It's not that simple. There are G1 figures that are notoriously breakable (e.g. G1 Mirage) or slowly self-combust over time (figures with old-style 'gold' plastic) and there are others that are solid enough over time. Overall, (at least I believe) figures nowadays are made reasonably durable, even with the more complex engineering (as long as there isn't too much of materials that are known to break like clear plastic). It may also depend on the figure.
If you are referring to the frills on Dilophocon, that's either a design flaw or an intended gimmick (being able to have the dino mode without the frills fanned out) depedning on how you look at it. Seeing as they are on hexagonal pegs (the standard shape for 5mm accessory ports on Transformers), I believe they are meant to be detachable.

The Dino is a She. Same as the other two-pack set. Same as Vertebreak.

Just like I renamed JP93 "Jack-Knife" I renamed JP12 "Jump-Off", since in the film the jeep almost "jumped" off the waterfall.
Honestly, if they sold just Dilophocon on its own, I'd probably buy it. As is, I don't feel like getting the two pack.

Personally, I think Dilophocon should be a Predacon since she is an organic Dilophosaurus, not a mechanical Dilophosaurus.
