Sounding like someone and being compared are different. You want to be compared to the GOAT not told you sound like him. People view NF as an eminem imitation because they claim he sounds the same. I really hope they collab one day on a track called ‘Skittles’! Fr though, NF always stay so humble, his response to Eminem, calling him a knock off was simply “I truly respect and was influenced by Eminem’s music”, instead of saying something negative back was just amazing, especially when it’s coming from someone you idolized before making it big yourself. It’s this way with everything. As an artist you might be inspired by Van Gogh and then by a local artist and then by Claude Monet. These all meld into you to create a unique style, yet these styles are still noticeable.

Yeah clearly Eminem is better. And thats fine because Eminem is on another level than 99.9% of rapper. But I do think some people enjoy NF’s music more because Eminem has juvenile things like toilet humor or rapping about “flicking the Vice President balls like a light switch.” Eminem peppers a lot of lines like that into his music.
I'm the same way with playing lead guitar. You learn too many of someone elses licks, makes it difficult to create your own flow through scales and the available modea therein. Only, Mansions, and Hope are my current favs.

You probably just haven't listened to enough. He has a bunch of hype rap songs, some slow rap songs, some songs where he just sings. He even has a kind of rock-ish song. He's very versatile. I suggest you listen to Real, Change, Paid My Dues, The Search, Hope, or Leave Me Alone. If you liked those you can just go through his discography. Almost all of his music is rap.

I always have to school youngens. My children are in their mid to late 40's. I had to hear all the rap back "in the day", as young folks say. My kids loved all of it. They loved Eminem and I did too. When I first heard his earlier songs, yeah, I could hear in his rap staccato, and some inflections of Em, but he has his own voice which of course is different, because he is NOT Em. Obviously he will be compared. But now that he has come into his own, I don't hear it like that anymore. I think it's because of his content and how he has developed his own style. If you are white, you will be compared to Em, anyway. That's just how this cou try works. He is holding his own in his own right. Going to his concer here in Kansas City in May and I am 66 and black. But I do think some people enjoy NF’s music more because Eminem has juvenile things like toilet humor or rapping about “flicking the Vice President balls like a light switch.” Eminem peppers a lot of lines like that into his music.

You probably just haven't listened to enough. He has a bunch of hype rap songs, some slow rap songs, some songs where he just sings. He even has a kind of rock-ish song. He's very versatile. I suggest you listen to Real, Change, Paid My Dues, The Search, Hope, or Leave Me Alone. If you liked those you can just go through his discography. Almost all of his music is rap.
Who, NF? Hell nah. Hes got slower, more popish songs, hype rap, more aggressive rap. Might have the most variety out of any rapper. And you must have listened to like 2 songs 😂

I always have to school youngens. My children are in their mid to late 40's. I had to hear all the rap back "in the day", as young folks say. My kids loved all of it. They loved Eminem and I did too. When I first heard his earlier songs, yeah, I could hear in his rap staccato, and some inflections of Em, but he has his own voice which of course is different, because he is NOT Em. Obviously he will be compared. But now that he has come into his own, I don't hear it like that anymore. I think it's because of his content and how he has developed his own style. If you are white, you will be compared to Em, anyway. That's just how this cou try works. He is holding his own in his own right.
