Sadly, the first one was available for so long, I doubt it was successful. IMO one of the reasons is that there was a price increase when it came out, so a lot of people decided to pass. I would definitely love to see another LSF collab in the future!

It irked me because I remember before it was released, someone on AG's social media team mistakenly referred to it as a limited-edition collection. So many collectors, myself included, jumped on the release and bought a lot of items right away, believing they would sell out. In reality those pieces were on the website for probably 2+ years, and the whole collection went on clearance pricing! I was kicking myself over it haha
I hope Nicki and Isabel get more clothes! I already own all of Nicki’s and would love more lol. Also I’m a bit disappointed that Lila never got anything added to her collection. I was hoping for more outfits but that’s obviously not going to happen since Lila’s time will be up in September. It’s so frustrating.

And Josefina is very close to my heart because she and Kit were the first American Girl dolls I got after my first, my Annie, Just Like You 21, whom I got when I was eleven and reached young womanhood because in my mom's side of the family, when a girl reaches young womanhood, her grandmother gets her a special gift and my grandmother suggested getting Annie because since she sort of looked like me at the time. I got Josefina and Kit for Christmas when I was 12 the same year back in 2010. I will be turning twenty-six on October 1st and it will be fourteen years since I had Kit and Josefina. It has already been fourteen years since I had Annie because I got her on June 3rd 2010. :) I had asked for a doll with long hair to be able to play with her hair and this doll ended up being Josefina.
Josefina did not read or write. Her aunt did. However, the materials used for writing were limited. They were used for business and necessary documentation like marriages, births, and deaths. It is unlikely that journaling was a practice for children writing about their frustrations and life experiences. I hope the writing style (journaling vs original Meet format) both address the time period as well as the dolls that are most popular for today’s children. It may not be worth it for AG to pay someone to rewrite books for older, less popular dolls. And the journaling format would not have been used by children in earlier time periods in the same way they are used today.

I don't mind you talking about the coffee shop. As a young woman who was born in Seattle and spent the first twelve years in my life in West Seattle, I totally know what you mean. I don't like coffee, but my dad drinks a lot of coffee and would go to Starbucks a lot, both on weekends when he and my mom were married and when I would see him or he would see me. Nicki and Isabel Hoffman are the Historicals I have the most in common with because they live in Seattle, which, again, I was born in and lived during the first half of my life, they live in the and were born in the 19990's, even though in was born eight years latter in 1998, we both lived in 1998 and 1999 and we have dads who like coffee, although my dad fixes up houses now and was a carpenter in the past. I tasted coffee nine and half years ago when I was seventeen and I thought it was awful! I begged my brother, who was thirteen at the time, to try it as well (Don't worry, he took just one little sip. Nothing more. I didn't ask him to drink the whole thing or a whole lot I would never do that to anyone, no matter what age.), not because I wanted to force him into anything, but because I wanted him to see how badly the coffee tasted and he didn't like it either. I knew he wouldn't like it and this is one of the few things we agree on, although I don't know if my brother still doesn't like coffee now at 22 years old. Another thing I have in common with my brother is that we are both cat people, having grown up with two different cats with our current one, Spatch, being my best friend ever. We like to cuddle and she spends hours on me and comes back on me multiple times a day. She is a calico cat and very cuddly in general. Spatch is on my legs right now, sleeping and snoring with her paws under the gap between my lap and my computer. She likes putting her paws there, especially when it is cold out to keep her paws warm and likes to stretch her front paws, sometimes stretching them out very long and far.

Dogs are too loud for me because I am autistic and dogs barking hurt my ears. I am terrified of them because of it. I don't hate them, though. Josefina was a Pleasant Company doll released in 1997. She had the original 6 book series with the Pleasant Company cover as shown from the 35th Anniversary release. Each book in the six book series had 5 chapters. Those characters with an original 6 book series had those books edited and squished into two longer books for the Beforever line. “Meet” was not used in the Beforever titles. The original Meet books would go back to the first book in the six book series. There were three book cover designs for the books in the six book series from Pleasant Company, American Girl 2000-2007, and 2007-2014. These were before the Beforever line.

The original Meet books are 5 chapters long. The “Meet” books are the first books in a series of 6 books (not the whole series) and are only a small part of their stories. As I mentioned in my own response to this post, Josefina did not read or write and due to available resources for writing, the characters from earlier dates would not have written in any type of journal other than documenting facts. They are changing the formats of books because people go to the store or online and buy dolls. Many people do not read the books and learn the characters by their stories. The journal format makes the writing style more casual and it has a lot of cartoon type illustrations. The pictures and visual format along with the writing style is meant to draw children into reading the books instead of tossing them aside.

For AG marketing and the history of the company, I would also see them staying with the most popular dolls starting with Julie (as a strong seller). I wonder about Courtney’s journal as a doll who has two recent books verses Nicki and Isabel who started with journals. Claudie is also in Courtney’s situation with recent books.
