- The Legend of Zelda franchise is more popular than ever with Tears of The Kingdom, and lots of Zelda trivia and secrets can still be found if you look hard enough... Specifically, at the lesser known Zelda Spin-off Games!
Join me as I look at The Legend of Zelda spin off games, from the popular to those that are lesser known, from the NES era as well as all the way through Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, Breath of The Wild and more! I set out to study each and every Spin-off game that the Zelda series has ever had (no matter how small) to see what has really been going on for all these years!

Crazy how you mentioned playing as zelda the day a game where you play as zelda would be announced
I think the Sonic Lost World Hyrule DLC deserves an honorable mention here. Although it's not a Zelda game it does have Sonic traveling to Hyrule where he does meet Link. I've found that not a lot of people actually know that this crossover exists.
I will check that out
Hi, old man here. I had the Zelda Game and Watch handheld when I was a kid, and I played the heck out of it. I loved that thing.
We actually had the Barcode Battler growing up - though I didn't know there was a Zelda set in Japan!
Most of the fun of it was that ANY barcode worked as long as you could swipe it through the scanner. Fruit Loops vs Cheerios? Cookies vs a bag of chips? Barbie vs Hot Wheels? All doable! The packaging for everything else we received that Christmas morning didn't see it coming.
What!! That makes it SO much cooler! I am now so jealous of Froot Loop battles
I see you're taking the dan howell-esque, 'disappear for a year and then post like normal' strategy - excited to watch 😁
We are so back 🙏🏻
@@StabilizeYTwell it would seem the algo is taking an interest as you were in my recommendations this morning, which is great. To be fair your channel is right in my wheelhouse, but still. Easy sub.
I think the tingle games are fascinating. They take all the weirdest parts of zelda and mash them with Mother's 3 writing and world design. Massive respect for nintendo for never being afraid to be as weird as they are.
We unironically need Tingle back in the franchise. The Western market had no taste for hating him back then.
Hi, owner of the zelda wrist watch here
It's, uh, not the best. My watch is kinda busted slightly but even if it wasn't, it'd be like a 4/10 experience at best.
The original Zelda G&W slader tho, how dare you good sir. It's fun! :p
Edit: I also own an unopened zelda barcode battler lol.
Ripened Tingle's Baloon Trip of Love is one of my favorite Zelda games, it's so wacky and I absolutely love wacky.
Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland is unironically an excellent and very charming game.
You didn’t mention The legend of Zelda: Battle quest
Can't believe this only has 12k views a week after it was posted, this video was great and told me about a ton of games I had no idea existed, great video!
I thought I’d know everything in here. I even knew about the watch.
I did not expect Bar Code Battler.
This video was hilarious and really REALLY well made. Hope to see more stuff like this!
Been waiting on this one…..
Great work as always!
Link's Crossbow Training was surprisingly fun game and imo best "Duck Hunt" successors that Nintendo has done imo. Me and one of my friend used to try get beat our high scores few years. :D
Amazing video! really well paced and facsniating. I am a massive zelda fan and i knew all of theses except for Zelda's adventure but was enratptured none the less. I assume it was way to late to comment on it but the bit in that section where you were talking about how much people want a game where yopu play as zelda is very funny given recent news.
i dont know what it says about me that i not only knew about every game but have watched most of these being played throughout the week
I was shocked you didn't even have 10,000 subscribers yet. Well, I'm now one of them.
I have watched let's plays of these two Tingle games and of course they have their flaws but they also have a certain charme and I will always fondly remember them. I think the boss fight in Tingle's Rosey-Rupee Land is pretty darn funny and I like the story and characters in Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love.
I 100%ed Age of Calamity. Loved it
Dude I laughed way to hard at the tingle part loved the video
Great video liked and subscribed
Thumbnail game on point!
I subbed cuz u asked so nicely. Very cool take on the zelda multi-verse. Thanks
Nice so many details !!!!
oh wow welcome back
Enjoy!
17:05 oops, looks like someone couldn't change the script in time
fr
Or they were well aware and just wanted to comment farm.
We are still working on Tetra's Trackers, the GBA texts will be ready in a few weeks.
But thanks for mentioning it, it's an unusual zelda game.😆
Thanks for your work and helping to make this video possible!
This channel is a go-to for information. It's the best!
I've thought about making a video like this myself! I'm actually impressed at the thoroughness of this video! I was sure some of the more obscure stuff like the Game Watch and Barcade Battler would be absent, so props for including them! I'm not actually through with the video yet, so I could be wrong, but it does look like you've missed at least 1 game, The Legend of Zelda Battle Quest, a game from Nintendoland on Wii U, though I suppose you could argue it doesn't count since it's not a stand-alone game.
The CDi games recently ended up getting a spiritual successor called: Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore. And it's actually really good.
Thumbnail on point!
Fantastic overview video. I can proudly say, that I own every single one of these games and the systems required to play them. The only exceptions are the Satellaview games. Also, I had to use unofficial means to get the ‘too much tingle pack’ running on my non-japanese DSi. I can’t be bothered with generic Zelda merchandise, art books, special editions. For me, everything that counts is having a playable version of EVERY Zelda game, including spin-offs. I also have beaten most of them by this point. Still working on 100%ing the Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition, and at some point, I will need to take some time to learn properly how the Barcode Battler works, and how I can ‘beat’ the Zelda deck of cards.
Some others I like to include in my count of spin-offs are the two Nintendo Adventure Books that feature the Legend of Zelda. Sure, they are not video games but some kind of game nevertheless. Finally, I would really love the get my hands on the Zelda board games by Milton Bradley (1988) and Bandai (1986). Maybe one day…
Whenever I see the CD-i I just get nostalgic for the CZcams poop era xD
"Mah boi, this peace is what all true warriors strrrrive for."
"My ship sails in the morning."
"Oh boy! I'm so hungry, I could eat an octorock!"
"You've got to be kidding."
"You dare bring light to my lair? YOU MUST DIE!"
"Mmm. Lamp oil, ropes, bombs. You want it? It's yours, my friend; as long as you have enough rubies."
Brb, going to go look up some YTPs
Underrated channel!
What a fantastical topic for the interweb!
He's been working on this video so hard that he didn't see that There's a new Legend of Zelda game, the Legend of Link
Well, if it wasn't for faces of evil we would never have morshu beatboxing, so I guess we can take something good out of this
You could actually scan different bar codes off of different things, not just the carss.. i had a barcode battler. Got it as a Christmas gift from my uncle..
If you like Hyrule Warriors, its definitely worth playing the Switch version. All the dlc, plus all the stuff added for the portable version. New charcters, maps, story levels, etc, its great! Im nowhere near 100%, but regularly pick it up and play for a bit. Best way to play that game, again, if you like the gameplay style
the BS zelda games aren’t really spin-offs, third quest and fourth quest are like remixes almost and ancient stone tablets I would even consider them “mainline” games before I call them spin-offs. Also tetra trackers is not it’s own game, it’s on the Japanese flour swords adventures disc, that’s like calling master mode a “spinoff game”
I don't know that I'd consider them mainline, as they canonically star the Satellaview mascot characters instead of Link, but they ARE games that everyone should play.
🎉 that Dark world theme🎉
Holy shit hes alive
Good Video.
Bought picross right before the eshop was killed. I had the points so I figured I might as well get it
The inclusion of King Harkinian from the CD-i games in the thumbnail earned you a watch, like, and subscribe from me. L😂L
Next maybe a look at ever Mario, Pokémon or other game spin off or at all Nintendo cameos or AR every kind of Mario coin? Maybe a look at comics, manga and cartoons? Or adds.
I actually really liked the TP Picross Game on 3DS :(
Tingle is like the Wario of Zelda.
The only version of the original Hyrule Warriors I have is the 3DS one, Legends, and to be honest I did once consider picking up the Wii U version long ago, but after looking into it I learned just how comparatively barebones the Wii U version was compared to Legends that I lost all interest in the Wii U version as better graphics and animations wasn't worth how little there was to do in it and how many fewer characters there were unless I wanted to pay extra for DLC in order to get them. Later on, of course the Switch version was announced some years later, but by that point I had gotten so far into Legends and still had more to do with the adventure maps that I decided to pass on the Switch port, also because the Switch version also lacked the really neat My Fairy feature that was a part of Legends that made the game flow a bit better I felt.
Don't forget about the board games! Bandai Japan had a 1986 game, and Milton Bradley had a 1988 game!
I don't get it. Why was 14:03 to 18:19 completely blank and mute?
ah well, I'm sure it was nothing important.
Mario may have ten times the number of spin-off games.
now imagen if all these games were on the official Zelda timeline
40:59 Twilight princess 2006
Picross 2016
I want to play the cadance game so much!
17:04 it's now finally happening
80s/90s kid here. The Game & Watch and LCD Watch games weren't great, even back then.Given a choice, I'd probably have just brought the manual along to read it.
Zelda Picross is actually from 2016.
3:08 imagine insulting the gameboy that badly
Did he mean to leave out Triforce Heroes?
35:34 WHY IS THERE NO TEXT?
no echoes?
but what time line are these all on???
They're on the timeline where Link never woke the Windfish, and stayed asleep forever.
Not gonna lie. I would love that to be canon.
This was refreshing. Didn’t know about Nintendo cutting ties with Philips, then Philips putting out those horrific discs called games. Thought they still had a partnership when those were released. Let Nintendo be Nintendo. Peace!-)
We get to play as Zelda in Wand of Gamelon which people still asking for to this day in a mainline game. Ignores Spirit Tracks and Echoes of Wisdom
So remasters and remakes are also spinoffs?
Missing two games, but close.
I was the one who originally got a lot of the information on these games.
i remember playing bs the legend of zelda ancient stone tablets one time on accident, as a kid i got like those game consoles that where pirated hardware and one of those games was that one i played and suddenly when i was like 16 i remember that weird game i tried to play as a kid since i did just beat the legend of zelda a link to the past i search high and low for it until i found it and with my limited at the time english just played the absolute crap out of the game is pretty good not as good as a link to the past, but still a fun game
Im having weird deja vu...
@43:52 Uhh bro age of calamity IS cannon according to the devs of zelda! regardless of how the gameplay says otherwise if the offical zelda team says its cannon. you can't just ignore that man! the other Hyrule warriors sure but not AOC. give it the justice it deserves smh.
We had the Game Watch growing up. *Takes Geritol* It was actually pretty cool. We also had the hand held Aladdin and Lion King. Of COURSE the controls were shit. Did we care? Nope. Now, get off my lawn, you whippersnappers.
I would only count Nintendo and cdi games, not fan games. No hacks or mods either. Only real games made by paid labor for products Nintendo can't take to court.
Really cruel with that ancient stone tablets thumbnail in the vid
Isn't Zelda like... the main protagonist ?!!?!§,sdqdAdmsf
You do know that there's a new Zelda game where you get to play as Zelda right?
You think he wrote the script after it was announced?
@@pemanilnoobI'm pretty sure that he finished it before it was announced
But I'm saying that just to clarify things and bring him up to date on this topic if he doesn't know
@@UltraIceMan275I'm gonna be honest, if someone is crazy enough to investigate about Zelda barcodes from 34 years ago, they are probably way in too deep to not know about new releases
@@BraxonGG I was just making sure that he knew was all
WHO THINKS TINGLE SHOULD BE ADDED TO SMASH?
Like and comment
And watch until the end
Im sorry but the cdi games were so bad there good situation for me
You forgot a game but I'm not gonna tell you what it is hahah
Battle Quest?
14:30 Adding a little info to that: Sony found out that Nintendo was working with Philips at the 1991 CES when, while they were in the showfloor, Nintendo announced to the world that Philips was creating a CD addon for the SNES. Sony unveiled their SNES CD addon the day before, at the same showfloor, and now they were watching Nintendo shove all their work to the side.
It's not just that Sony and Nintendo didn't see eye-to-eye... Nintendo wanted to join forces with Philips just to say F-you to Sony and nothing more.
Great video! I'll give you the "You deserve more subs" Spiel as you deserve it :D
