It's only been 2 days since Amy gave birth, but with Glenn on the phone calling her into work, she has little choice. Between breast-pumping in the utility room and Ryan calling every 5 minutes with a new problem, It's only a matter of time before she explodes and lord help anyone in her way.

ABOUT SUPERSTORE
America Ferrera and Ben Feldman star in the hilarious workplace comedy "Superstore," about a unique family of employees at a supersized megastore. "Superstore" centers around Amy (Ferrera), who recently was promoted to be the store manager and is the glue holding the place together, and Jonah (Feldman), a dreamer determined to prove work doesn't have to be boring. Their fellow associates include the sardonic Garrett (Colton Dunn), the sweet and clueless Cheyenne (Nichole Bloom), and the perpetually dismissed Sandra (Kaliko Kauahi). I kept expecting Glenn was going to help her, I think the only reason he didn’t is that Glenn was cautious about finding a loophole to give Amy maternity leave, because he was fired for doing that with Cheyenne in season 1

In Glenn's defense, it's not like he could have let corporate fire her. She had to come into work. It's not HIS fault, and it's not HER fault.

A puppy has got to be one of the worst gifts Glenn could have given her, she clearly does not have the time or the energy to take care of and train it.

I feel bad for both of them. Obviously Amy because of the fact she’s just gave birth and had to go to work but also the fact that glenn tried to give someone paid leave back in season 1 but ended up getting fired.
I've never been a store manager only a worker but honestly sometimes it's not even the boss's fault. Corporate gives him the order and he has to be the one to break it to the workers.

I loathed Glenn for not letting her pump milk in his office. He is a small, small man.
i don't understand why they didn't just take amy's id and clock her in. corporate wouldn't know she wasn't actually there as long as she's in the system anyways. 😪
Some stores have that but unlike the store I worked at we needed to clock in with our ID number and our THUMBPRINT😂 so maybe it was that situation
Edit: or it’s bc corporate will know whether she came in or not😂 currently at my new job the manager explained they will know whether or not we clock in and stay for the entire shift bc of the CAMERAS at the door

@@noahjessup9342 Actually, Dina was on Maternity leave because she was recovering from labor as well, using Glenn's benefits since she was his surrogate. But another reason for why they didn't do that is because it's considered time theft and everyone involved would be fired for that.

That was my thought as well. Maybe Glenn was worried that a corporate employee would go to the store to confirm whether or not Amy was working.

The bath bombs would be a nice gesture from anyone else, but Amy exploded because it's coming from the dum-dum who fudged her maternity leave and made her pump in a closet.
They're also not particularly useful for a single working mom
I don't think it was Glenn who messed up her maternity leave but corporate as if it was up to Glenn she would have maternity leave. If you remember Glenn lost his job when he gave Cheyenne maternity leave. Not that I side with corporate at all but maybe Amy shouldn't have had sex at work and broadcasted it live to every store.
You can’t use bath bombs after giving birth
The bath bombs were also a bit of a trigger because women aren’t supposed to take baths for at least a month after giving birth vaginally. It was a totally useless gift for Amy in that moment.

What I didn't like about this episode it's that she ended up apologizing to him and HE DESERVED EVERY WORD THAT CAME OUT OF HER MOUTH

Someone just sent me this clip after I told them my boss didn't get vacation pay because he was considered a "re hire" coming from a different store and was 3 days short of his 60 day trial period. He's worked with the company for over a decade.

Telling Glenn to kill himself was harsh but not entirely uncalled for. He really should have let Amy rest. She was practically crying while shouting at him.
But it was corporate that was threatening Amy's job, not Glenn. Remember how Glenn got fired for giving Cheyenne six weeks off under the guise of a suspension because she couldn't get maternity leave?
Granted, he wasn't thinking with the bath bombs (or the puppy) but he was trying. And Amy's day just kept getting worse and worse so it didn't help matters. (not condoning the "kill yourself" comment, that should never be said (even as a joke) to anyone)

Seeing this full scene now puts it all in context.
To everyone saying "Glenn should've done something to help Amy", remember when he helped Cheyenne in S1 after she gave birth and he got fired? Do you really think Glenn could've done anything to help that wouldn't have gotten both himself and Amy (who are both on thin ice as it is with corporate) fired? And even those saying he could fudge the paperwork, Dina is keeping an eye on him at all times and would report whatever she saw. There is nothing Glenn could've done... other than maybe let Amy pump in his office and have her take frequent breaks instead of pumping in a closet.
Is that really a thing? Can companies really restart your working experience if you get suspended? How is she supposed to explain the gap on her resume if it starts over? Additionally, I'm surprised she only got suspended for making an international scandal.

most companies don't do that, but superstore had to for the sake of the plot. Also the "clock" starts but she was still a employee for 15 years. In the show, its just a way to rob employees of their benefits. Amy was mostly likely payed the same as prior to her suspension. (hasn't been confirmed, but if she was reduced to starting pay, it probably would have been mentioned.) On her resume she would just list all 15 years. no reason to voluntarily mention the suspension.

@@vigneshkrishnamurthy7938 a lot of companies actually do this type of thing - usually not in the form of suspensions but by keeping people as contractors rather than employees, they can claim that person either isn't an employee and doesn't get any benefits or hire them after several contract renewals such that their "employee start date" was months or years after they realistically started the jobs. large corporations do this all the time to screw over their workers because they don't care.

I never understood this episode since the Family Leave Act of 1993 allows you 12 weeks of leave....
For employees who have put in 1250 hours of service in the 12 months prior. As Glenn stated, Cloud 9 reset that to zero after her suspension. We don't know if employees signed off on this policy or how long Amy's suspension was prior to that. While, I still think she would have qualified for FMLA, it's not entirely implausible that she wouldn't either.

Saw this episode not to long ago. I'm surprised this YT channel is still active for a show that ended a couple year ago. The Orville is inactive and its still in the run. I only started watching this show because I walked on the set at Universal Studios. It was interesting. Amy is a mood in this. Although I love Glenn, constantly worried about Amy. More than Jonah

Actually in the long run... a pet may be helpful for stress... but yet once again, Glenn has great motivations... but a bit off the mark. I'd have personally gotten them a kitten as they are great emotional support but require a lot less maintenance than a Golden Retriever of all things.
