Monstrous whirlpool in parish Dviete, Latvia swallows everything in its path. Swallowing everything dragged towards its direction, this monstrous whirlpool looks as if a plug has been pulled from the ground beneath.

I was floating down the Copper river in Alaska years ago with one other person. The current of the river was so strong it took us toward a giant whirlpool that was 30 feet across. We paddled with everything we had to avoid being sucked into the middle. We were able to skirt through the outer edge. We sure didn’t wNt to find out where that whirlpool would go.

I don’t know where this particular drain leads to, but I’m betting that wherever the drain ultimately dumps out, the water must be blasting out with awesome power and velocity!

This is a drain that goes under a road and out of the other side. The drain is off camera and the whirlpool current is actually "bending" sideways and extending for many feet outwards and drawing the water in. So you see a whirlpool on the top of the water, but it would actually pull you underneath in a spiraling current, through a pipe (probably a foot or two in diameter) leading under the roadway and throw you out of the other side of the road into the water that is discharging there. This is why "anything" can go into it. The force of the water is extruding it through the pipe. Ice gets pulled under, crashes against the pipe and breaks into pieces...and it is sucked through the pipe since the pieces are smaller. It all goes out of the other side.

Whirlpool are created by holes in the rivers and lakes. The holes are created by weak spots of continuous water seepage because of heat and cold expansion of the ground. These tunnels can be a mile long underneath.
