I actually saw Tig Notaro open for a show at Largo two years ago, it was full of goofy lip-syncing bits culminating in a re-enactment of this exact story. They brought out a keyboard for her and everything. Before the song played, she turned to us and said "Before I start, I just want to make sure none of you forgets for even one second that Adele was in the audience at this party"
I saw her a few weeks ago for her 2022 standup tour and she told this story again and sang "Hello" at the piano as well. 🤔

@Suffer No Fools I knew about Tig from NPRs This American Life, maybe mid 2000s, and was blown away by the comedy set she did about her health crisis. I didn't even know about her association with Louis CK until his recent metoo scandal.
She's literally the most attractive being on this planet to me so I cannot relate to these lunatics.

I agree. Carson, Ferguson, Leno, and Letterman all had desks. Conan's had a desk since he started Late Night in '93, Fallon, Kimmel, Corden, Colbert, Seth Meyers, they all have desks. Conan's now decided to go his own way (including no longer wearing suits) and I think that's awesome! You go, Conan!

Same, It seems more casual to me. So many people complaining about the no desk... It's fine that they would prefer a desk again, but if Conan doesn't want one, he's not getting one. His show, his choice. Plus, he said he was getting tired of the desk and you shouldn't keep something you don't like anymore.
It’s also, more personal because sometimes he wants to reach out to them and then the desk kind of gets in the way. 😊

I went to go see her show a few months ago (best night of my life! The most I have laughed in my entire life! I was beside myself!) and she closed the show with her doing this exact Adele bit and it was great!
