Amazing voices, amasing technique! I'm happy to listen you again. First time it was in Arezzo in 1992, I was a member of children choir Vesna. Now I'm 30 years old, but I remember your singing since this time.
It's me again. I don't know but everytime I needed to think and ask God what is He trying to tell me at this point in my life, I always go back to this music and it helps me so much. I'm at the rock bottom now and I thank God for this music. Thank you Tim's Music Corner for uploading this video. I feel peace in my heart.
Man, they did great. That competition is crazy competitive, especially since they were going against the Vesna Children's choir which also won the grand prix before. Vesna is probably the toughest of the challengers cuz they are a children's choir, angelic voices and all. Put together Vesna and Madz and you'll probably get as close to perfection as is possible.
I was there. I got goosebump during their performance.. This is by far my most favorite performance of Madz.... their sound is so ethereal as if i am in a trance entering the gate of heaven.
In "Salimm su, tanto chi'i' vidi, De le cose belle che porta 'I" - that small opening to paradise was sung so delicately and effectively that when "Ciel" is first introduced (E) - the perfect third - heaven, sounded the way it should be. It's so Callas, I love it!
i was in the massachusetts allstate choir and we sang this too, and its amazing to me that this amount of people, the phillipine madrigal singers, can achieve this gorgeous, full sound, with like 20 people. its absolutely breathtaking. i love this piece.
I've been listening to this version since they've won the Grand Prix in 2007. It's been 10 years since then, I'm still listening to their angelic voices. A two-full-choir required piece with over 20 singers but they've sound like legions of them!
I can't stop watching this several times since it was posted here. I am a soprano. Anytime I have to sing descant part, I imagine to this. Thanks for providing me the greatest role model, ever!
It's January 24, 2021 and I'm back here still listening amidst all the things happening around the world. Their voice., This masterpiece still gives me chills and gives me so much emotions listening. 🙏🏽
And i got to see and hear them live last Dec 30, 2023 in their reunion concert. I made the right choice of going that night though I dont have a ticket in my hand (bec it's already sold out). Thank God I was still able to purchase one on the actual venue. I love you, Madz! Thank you for inspiring me to be excellent and to always sing from the heart. Still a dream come true for me! ❤️
Listen to the flawless and magnificent transition of harmony from 5:32 From this onwards this is where I get all the goose bumps everytime I listen to this over and over and over again. The incredible legatos and spectacular soprano blew me away
Simplicity in the best sense, elegant vocal lines, virtuosity in service of the music, seamless breathing, broad dynamic ranges, felt, textured, and nuanced singing...everything you want in a choir is present here. What a blessing you all are. Tears welled in my eyes with this video. One of your all-time best.
I have been exposed to different interpretations of this piece, but none of them can compare to the way Madz performed and presented the beauty of this choral piece. There is something special about how they sang it. I find it to be captivating, and it really resonates with me. Simply superb.
I wish someday I could hear them perform live. I am a young fan of them and they are my inspiration to be a better member of pur choir group in church🤍
I listen everyday to madz song. when I'm at work place, at home, everywhere, I always listen to them and also sing along. Now I almost know all the songs they sung in bass part coz I'm a bass singer when I was in college back then. All my friends at work always ask me why I always play this kinnd of song everytime from morning to evening, and I said that I love this kind of music especially sung by Philippine Madrigal Singers.
Love this! This is my absolute favorite in all of the pieces they've sung. I'm responsible for about 20 views already, lol! I always listen to this whenever I want to relax. Paulit-ulit ako magpatugtog, lol!
I dont know if any choir in the world has , is and will able to match this paricular puece and performance. I found some international and award winning choirs too but im sorry it really pales in comparison. I think this is one of the hardest choir pieces ever
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful music and your choir! Honestly, I get a lot of energy and impression from hearing this music, and I really almost cry everytimes when I listen to. I really wish to be there! Thank you again!
@2:03 see one of the judges' head move from the sheet music to the performers onstage...he must have heard the sound he was looking for...to hell with the sheet music.
Very impressive sound, always a must in one's ipod
omg, i just saw the sheet music for this song, and stroope actually wrote it for two full SATB choirs harmonizing with each other at the same time. in other words, in this video you are viewing right now, the madz are divided into two SATB choirs at this very performance, conducting themselves, and singing in full 8 part! AMAZING! MADZ, AMAZING!
Oh my God! they really deserve the champion title!! My jaw was dropped to the floor the whole time I listened to the song! Z. Randall Stroope woulb SO proud to hear his song is sung in such GREAT way and interpretation!! BRAVO MADZ!!! here's a standing ovation for you!!
Same as others, i kept coming back to this piece, why? It's my soul says.. go back and listen..lol..This was recorded at that time via a video camcorder and it was perfect. Imagine if it's recorded with professional recording equipment, I don't know what to say.
Really exquisite choral singing...I'm always astonished by how magical their blend is. I think singing in a mixed group and in a semi-circle really allows them to hear each other in a way that makes balancing voices much easier.
I can't believe I had the pleasure of being directed and coached by the composer of this song. Wish I could go back to that time over and over again. :c
Sana may mag upload din ng first time manalo ang Madz sa grand prix nung 1997 no less than National Artist Andrea Veneracion ang namuno. Wala ako makita
I sang this song in my all state choir in Vermont. It remains to be the most inspirational and meaningful song I have ever sang. Whenever I sing it or hear it preformed I get chills. This is a very good performance of it.
My wise 88-year old filipino music teacher of violin, piano, guitar, mandolin and a vocal coach (music teacher from a well known university when she was younger) once said that of all the musical instruments, the human voice is the most beautiful.
Amazing voices, amasing technique! I'm happy to listen you again. First time it was in Arezzo in 1992, I was a member of children choir Vesna. Now I'm 30 years old, but I remember your singing since this time.
Congratulations for even competing against Madz, did you happen to have a video of those events? Pls upload
Oh wow! This must be so nostalgic!
This was the best batch of the MADZ.. Solid bass, razor tenor, floating altos and power sopranos👍👌🇵🇭
I agree. I hear a lot of flats and sharps and heavy voice placements among the current batch.
Same. In my opinion, this batch had the best sopranos. They really soar! The current ones don't have this tone.
Have you heard of the Madz '89?
I will search this batch... If there is videos on youtube.
True. This batch sounds like a choir from heaven.
2024 and still here listening to this wonderful ethereal performance by Madz ❤❤❤❤❤
Anyone brought here by Madz 2007’s reunion concert last December 30, 2023? ❤
During nCov Outbreak, this piece makes me feel calm and could think this too shall pass. Still Listening to you #2020

If the Mormon Tabernacle Choir is considered "America's Choir", the Madz would not only be the "Philippine's Choir" but the "World's Choir".

The excellence that even time can't wither away. 14 years ago, these blessed audience experienced one heaven of a performance, good for them!
It's year 2021, and I still go back to this. Thank you Madz! Mabuhay kayo!

Use your earphones specially from 6:33 when they sang in unison and then boom until the end. Uwian na may nanalo na talaga.
Very deserving of the EGP. To me they are still the best grand prix winner ever

I started listening to this in 2008. I never stopped since.
I understand this piece is intended for two full choirs and Madz are just 24? Incredible how they sounded like a hundreds of voices and so powerful !
Listening to this, 2023 anyone?
2024!
found this in 2016, and now in 2022 never stop coming back
the fact that you can't understand the song, but it still make you cry, is testament to how well the Madz tackled this piece. Bravo!
