It took two guitarists to replace him. He's a special talent that cannot be replaced.
I wanted to say the same thing. I would love to play guitar like Lindsey, but I just don’t have enough fingers.
@@markb20 Exactly. I'm a huge fan of Mike Campbell's work with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, he's incredible and perfect for that band. But the recordings I've heard of Fleetwood Mac without Lindsey just don't sound right to me, and it's not just because his voice is missing.
@@andrewfurst5711 Yes, well said. The same thing happens in sports when you lose a talented player that was part of a winning team and try to replace him with another talented player. If the chemistry is not there, a lot of times it doesn't work.
Lindsey's DNA was a part of the Mac; it also didn't work in the late 1980s when Lindsey left the band.
One was for guitar and the other plays but he was for Lindsay's singing parts

Its so sad... because there is literally no need for the break up or firing amongst lifelong friends. Pride goes before destruction. What a shame..
He is one of the most underrated guitarists of the last 50 years. His side project with Christine McVie from 2017 is amazing. He has more songs to write. Let's hope that he recovers so that he can tour again.

♥️👑 Lindsey - love your music and amazing musical talent. First among equals.
Please. Take care of yourself.
He is such a great musician, his vocal range and his beautiful playing makes his guitar playing very Angelic. I consider myself a pretty seasoned guitarist and singer and I was asked to join a huge Fleetwood Mac tribute act here in LA/California because their guitarist quit and they had dates coming up. I literally had a lot of musical stuff going on at the time and I had to decline. I also would not have done doing Lindsey justice and I really would of rather of had more time to train up to fill his shoes. Again, his vocal Range is out of this world! He’s in the same league as Chris Cornell and Sting! Their normal register is Superhuman for everyone else!
I was pissed when he was fired from the band and now Christine is gone. Stevie's going to wake up one morning and be all alone. Maybe it's time to stop the hate.

Not much chance of getting the band back together in any form with (originals) Peter Green,Danny Kirwan, Bob Welch,Christine Mcvie all passed.Despite being a brilliant guitarist/songwriter I have always found LB difficult.Having being in many bands and sadly if the chemistry ain’t right then it ain’t going to work despite the music.
Of the four original band members - Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer, Bob Brunning and Mick Fleetwood - only two are still living.
Jesus, folks, do your homework. Fleetwood Mac had existed for EIGHT YEARS, with ten different lineups, before Buckingham and Nicks joined.
As far as Lindsey’s health goes, heart disease runs in his family. Both his father and his brother died from it before turning 60.

@@FactsVerse I like most of the songs Fleetwood Mac did together. I keep hoping the surviving members can patch up their differences so they can continue to make music that all can enjoy.
Sorry to hear that Lindsey's massive heart attack damaged his vocal chords. For a singer, that's career-ending. But he looks fabulous and we all wish you the best, Lindsey. Fleetwood Mac is legendary and maybe it's just time to retire peacefully. ❣💯
The vocal chord damage was temporary. Buckingham has released an album and done some shows since then.
Heart problems often include pulmonary problems as well. A well functioning heart and lungs is vital for energy and stamina, as well as proper breathing to be able to sing well and for a prolonged time.
I wish that Stevie and Lindsay can put there differences aside. I do pray he gets healthy and stronger. I love both of them, I would love to see them together, life is short and with Christine gone, it puts it all in perspective.❤
Without him Fleetwood Mac means absolutely nothing to me.
What makes Fleetwood Mac is the entire ensemble. I pray for his health. 🙏❤️🙏
without any one of "the five" it just isn't Fleetwood Mac. they are each essential and though Christine and Lindsey were my personal favorites it was the whole chain that recorded and performed the songs i love. now that Christine has passed the chain is forever broken at least here on earth.
When Bob Welch left I swore Id never listen to them again, then Lindsey especially n Stevie made that hard. Id bet Lindsey is struggling with loss of Christine. They were great friends, wrote album n toured only a few years ago. Genius musician ! Mystery to Me, my favorite FM Album. Whats your favorite Album or Song ?
One of the best guitarists ever! Not the same without him & Christine.
We absolutely agree! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. Which Fleetwood Mac song appealed to you the most?
Mick fleetwood wanted Lindsey not Stevie back in 1973. Mick only took stevie because Lindsey and stevie were a package deal.
I saw him play in London in 2022 & he was brilliant. ! They then postponed some of the other european dates due to covid. Really hope he makes a speedy recovery to full health & gets back on the road again.
INDEED LIFE IS TOO SHORT IT IS SO SAD TO HEAR THIS NEWS HE NEEDS ALL THE LOVE AND SUPOORT FROM THE BAND MEMBERS AFTER ALL THEY WERE A FAMILY FOR SO LONG
I think my favorite song is
The Chain ! Where Stevie sing it real good ! And Lindsey also starts off singing his heart an soul in this song !
Yeah, I think that’s true for me too, followed by Rhiannon and/or GoYour Own Way as a close 2nd.
Christine is gone and that loss is humbling in the truest sense of the word. I never thought it would be she to go first.
But the four of you plus new/ old collegues are still here ! Ask yourself " Can't we all ... finally...
just get along ?!
It's about the music, chemistry, time, love, effort, collaborations, respect, the life journey together, how your fans feel and so much more ! Do you really want to lose that ?! Do you really want it all to end on such a bitter note ?!
Like all of us, you don't have much time ! Put the shit in the trash and start playing together again ! I hope you write a song for the lovely Christine Mc Vie !
Too many favorites to settle on one forever. For now under these circumstances, The Chain. God bless You !
PS please remember you have all Loved each other far, far longer than you have not !
PPS Christine did not break the chain. She is where she can now be your strongest link !
He also separated from his wife of twenty years around this time. The sad part is the health problems began in 2019, the year Lindsey turned 70. Eventually, age makes a difference. Christine McVie died suddenly November 30th, 2022 at age 79. The remaining members range in age from 73-77. I remember watching FM perform “Don’t Stop” at President Clinton’s inauguration in January 1993. That was thirty years ago next month. I was twenty then and fifty now. We’re not immortal and the members of FM have known each other since 1974. That’s 48 years and a long time for a band.
Boy, was he handsome in his younger years! He was almost pretty.

Let's not forget the late great Peter Green, my personal favorite Line up was the original blues based Fleetwood Mac.
I think Stevie’s ego got too big. Lindsey is on more of a genius level. Hurt feelings run deep and seem to never stop hurting.
In a somewhat recent discusstion, Stevie seemed absolutely adamant, she is DONE with Lindsay. While not outright bashing any particular thing, trait, or anything, it was pretty clear she would have *nothing of it* Alll have become artists in their own right. The only one with no solo gig is Mick Fleetwood. Not much a drummer can do on his own. It was a *great run*, but the damage done by the year after year of arguing (not to mention lawsuits) has sealed the jar closed. Of course all of us would like to see one final reunion, don't see it actually happening, especially with the recent passing of Christine. She was a gem and did her best to stay out of the fist fight. God Bless her!
AMEN I AGREE CHRISTINE MCVIE WAS AN ELEGANT LADY WITH A BEAUTIFUL VOICE AND I THINK JOHN MCVIE HAS NEVER DESERVED THE RECOGNITION HE DESERVED IN FLEETWOOD MAC !!!!
PARDON ME I MEANT TO SAY JOHN MCVIE DESERVES AS MUCH RECOGNITION AS HIS COUNTER PARTS !!!!
Many good songs of course. My favorite is "I'm So Afraid" live version from "The Dance". Lindsey kills it on the guitar and Mick is a standout on the drums. I always had a bit of a crush on Stevie, but Lindsey is really the star.
Heart disease runs in his family. His father had a heart attack in his 50’s and died while waiting in a line in his car during the gas crisis during the early 1970’s. He may be the best guitar player ever. Incredible performances with Fleetwood Mac. when you hire two guitar players to replace one you know he was great.
It took 2 people to cover him because of his lead vocals, not his guitar playing skills. He is good but he's not that good.
@@donyoung7874 Lindsey Buckingham plays a hybrid finger picking style he says was originally inspired by Merl Travis (Travis Picking). He never fully adopted using a pick, the exception being, for studio recording. By not using a pick he freed up another finger for picking.
In effect, this frees his thumb to play the base strings (D,A,E strings) while three other fingers play the treble (E,B,G strings). This is inline with how classical guitarists play, but that’s not in his music playing background.
@@joegotz1971 Travis picking is something entirely different than your statement of him playing without a pick. Travis picking allows you to alternate bass notes while your fingers play melody lines on the higher strings.I would think most advanced guitarists utilize it to varying degrees. Listen to Chet Atkins playing Mr.Sandman for an excellent example. You can use your thumb or it can be played with a pick.
If you use a pick, you can then use your middle and ring fingers to pick out melody lines on the higher strings at the same time. I learned that from watching Richard Thompson. The sound of using your fingers instead of a pick is slightly warmer. It's a different feel. I haven't played without a pick long enough to get comfortable just using my thumb for bass notes. Even growing the nail longer, I seem to hit the strings with the pad of my thumb instead of the thumbnail. So when I finger pick I still use a thumb pick. There's also a difference in the sound a metallic pick makes compared to plastic. And even different gauges of plastic vary in brightness of tone. Sweetwater sells a package of 3 thumb picks by Tusq, with different gauges and you can hear a difference.
I wish him the best. The original band will never be the same. Much love and prayers

Fleetwood Mac is over now that Christine is gone. Their voices have been shot for awhile and there's no new music. No more drama, please.
Stevie forced him out of the band. That is the real backstory. She is a shameless individual and would be a “nobody” without Lindsey. His contributions to Fleetwood Mac is what made Fleetwood Mac. My heart goes out to him, the REAL talent of the band.
Let's not ALWAYS blame the woman. They had a toxic relationship, both of them had demons, but Stevie was/is every bit as talented as he is if not more -- a brilliant songwriter and unique vocalist. He was physically violent with her on several occasions, witnessed by the other band members, so let's not raise him up to god-like status, he's just a human being with flaws like the rest of us and I'm not surprised Nicks chose not to perform with him again. Between the two of them there's enough baggage to sink an ocean-liner.
@@valeriemcknight5608 Christine and Lindsey were the best musicians in the band. I think Stevie was a good lyrics person but not that good at writing music. For me, it's his live performances of "I'm So Afraid" from 1976-78 that converted me from a passing infatuation with Stevie Nicks (as we all experienced back then), to realizing Lindsey was the real heart and soul of that era of Fleetwood Mac.
Alas, that song rarely reached the same intensity after he switched from the white Les Paul to mostly the Turner hollow body. He just didn't get the same sustain and tone anymore.
OTOH, I liked the way he's reinterpreted familiar songs recently to accommodate his changing vocal ability, and just because he's at that stage in his craft when he can do whatever the hell he wants with his own songs.
A musical genius..no Lindsey..no Fleetwood Mac! It can never be the same now that Chrisine is gone. I will always and still do adore Stevie Nick's. "Children get older, time makes bolder, I'm getting older too" and I still love my Fleetwood Mac.

Most of the great musicians are perfectionists bordering on being "control freaks", who rub some people the wrong way when it comes to collaboration. It appears that Lindsey is in in that category, but that's partly what made the band so good with his presence.
Obviously I don't know all the details, but I blame Stevie for getting Lindsey kicked out. Stevie knew that Lindsey was who he is - a controlling perfectionist who wanted to make the best possible music - and yet after all these years she has such a problem with him that he had to go? What about just going ahead and performing, even if you don't get along personally? Then again, maybe there's more to it than we can see.
It just seems strange that Lindsey originally wouldn't join FM unless they took Stevie too, and then ultimately it was Stevie kicking Lindsey out of FM. Doesn't she see any irony there? And of course without Christine you wonder how they can do a "reunion" tour. Especially hard to replace Christine's voice.
Such a great looking, talented guy. How I enjoyed his music, it will stay amazing forever.
My favorite Fleetwood Mac song is "Tusk" which is a Lindsey Buckingham composition.
Everything has a beginning and an end. That's the case for Fleetwood Mac. They were big when I was a teenager and that was decades ago. Father Time is undefeated.
I suspect it's at least partly psychosomatic. No doubt people have - in the past - encouraged him to resolve certain issues, because if he doesn't, the emotional strain will eventually affect his health. Seeing as he can't tour because of his failing health, now is a sensible time to put aside his pride ... to finally confront what he refused to resolve in the past. It doesn't matter if you fail. What matters is that you tried.
Doesn’t matter now with the passing of Cristine. While each of the singers and writers contributed. The two women wrote the bulk of the hits. Nicks high level of solo success grew in sync with her growing ego and her lengthy boring attention loving chit chats at every performance. I understand his annoyance coping with these but he’s done it himself before. While Cristine didn’t search for attention there was a huge a huge amount of jealousy from him towards the girl he introduced into the band. Her solo career dwarfs his and it irks him terribly. As a group their legacy remains right at the top along with the Eagles anyway.
I'm sorry I never got the chance to see the band with Christine and Lindsey performing. 'Go Your Own Way' is by far my favorite Fleetwood Mac song. ❤
Some times we have to deal with things , that alter many things in our daily living.... I wish him the best....
He looks good for his age in this clip hopefully he recovers, keeping him in my prayers

The reason Fleetwood Mac was so anxious to start that tour was the fact that Mick Fleetwood was broke and needed money. Lindsey asked to give him some extra time. Stevie got angry and he was let go. They got Finn and Campbell, who are very good in their own right, but not FM-type musicians. There’s a reason FM has to replace Lindsey Buckingham with two guitarists.
The reason is Mike Campbell is a fantastic guitarist and Neil Finn is a fantastic vocalist that can cover the range Buckingham sings in.
@@donyoung7874 none dispute MC & NF aren’t great in their own right but I’ve seen FM w LB & then, the other 2=It was like trading in ur Ford 350 for a bicycle
@@kimlarso Is that supposed to mean something? Could it be the band as a whole are just getting too old to be as fantastic as they once were, 40 years ago? That happens to every band after decades, doesn't it? Maybe you saw them on an off night. That happens to bands even when they're in their prime. Plus they're all now approaching 80!
It took 2 people to cover him because, if you followed Mike Campbell at all during his career with Tom Petty, you would know he isn't a vocalist, first and foremost. I found that he does sing in a side project called the Dirty Knobs, but he sounds like Tom Petty! So how would that voice sound on Buckingham songs? That's why Neil Finn was brought in, to sing Lindsay Buckingham's songs and harmonies. His voice can handle Buckingham's higher vocal register. Is he Lindsay Buckingham with the exact same tonality? No. He's Neil Finn. I'm just explaining why it took 2 people to cover for Lindsay Buckingham, that's all. You can be a fan and still think critically.
My favorite Fleetwood Mac song was I'm so afraid. Great harmony and fantastic guitar riffs!

There are facts here that are not being said,as This had more to do with EGOs and GREED! Stevie has wanted control of the band for years and used the excuse of the music cares award show as a way to seize control! Then when Mick Sided with her the rest of the band followed suit! It has to be said that Stevie has wanted to be in the Tom Petty & The Hearbreakers band for years! and hiring Mike Campbell was the next best thing! Christine as well, was still on Lindsey's side, but was out voted! Also everyone knew the next tour could probably be their last, as a unit? with several of the band having health concerns, and with Christine's sudden and unexpected passing, has pretty much ended any more get togethers or albums! Mick has been talking like he wants one more to "tie things up" but sadly that time and come and gone!
My favorite Mac song is "I Don't Want To Know". Honorable mentions are Cattle and Cane's cover of "Everywhere" and The Watkins Family Hours' version of "Steal Your Heart Away".
Just happy I got to see them perform "whole'. They are the 2nd or 3rd greatest band of all time for me with Led Zeppelin of course being #1 on another level altogether from ANY other band that ever took the stage. The Eagles & Fleetwood Mac are #2 & #3 depending on what day you ask me. RIP Christine, as with Glenn Frey of The Eagles there is no replacement, not even his son. Both bands should call it good just as Led Zeppelin did when John Bonham died although it was good to see them perform with Jason just as we saw Glenn's son perform with the Eagles a few weeks ago.
Benchman. Ah, talking about Led Zep it is remarkable that Jason became a drummer and got so damn great that he could play in his father's super band! Were you alive when Led Zeppelin first hit? It truly was another level the world was shifted into with those four men! I'll never forget it.
They never grow up. Rock Stars never grow up. They become famous very young and never advance emotionally. That leads to ridiculous firings over making dumb faces.
Such a shame that such a great band couldn’t get along better and settle their differences!

The feuds, ironically, is when FM were at their best in their early years (anger, envy, jealousy, sex/lust, drugs, rock & roll are beautiful motivators = What you see in the later yrs are ego & pride being front & center (too many Chiefs) especially bt Stevie & Lindsey (Try as you may to heal=The first cut really is the deepest!!!)
Seen them a few times (raised my kids on them-Will forever miss CM)♥️
@@kimlarso Imo, Stevie,s never got over the fact that Lindsey got over HER !
He is a great musician
Lindsey-you're a legend-relax-you are loved.
You have my prays 🙏🏼🙏🏼 keeping fighting you still rock
Thank you so much for sharing your message for Lindsay! In your opinion, what is her finest song?
I'll be praying for a speedy recovery get back out on the road and sing some wonderful songs
Thank you so much for sharing your message for Lindsey. Have a Merry Christmas!
It's like Journey without Steve Perry, or Chicago without Peter Cetera; those bands were never quite the same after that, and so it goes with Fleetwood Mac. Without Lindsay, and (sadly) without Christine, that band will never be the same, and will just be musicians covering the original songs.
With the unfortunate passing of Christine McVie May she rest in peace as Fleetwood Mac would never be the same without her either, and since Lindsey Buckingham has been fired from Fleetwood Mac even though the band's days are numbered due to age and as much as I love Stevie nicks as she is always been my favorite along with Mac. The drummer, can't believe I'm drawing a brain for it on his name as he's incredible. But getting back to what I was going to say is if Fleetwood Mac wants to tour a few more times they better reconsider hiring Lindsey Buckingham back as they should have worked things out as a band and he should have never been fired to begin with as most of all their music is about their life as a band and their romances and marriages within the band. That's where the song, The Chain was made, that no matter what happened that Fleetwood Mac was a chain and could never be broken. Lindsey Buckingham's life was Fleetwood Mac And I don't see him surviving much longer without the band all sitting down and hiring Lindsey Buckingham back to the band with open arms. The only person holding it up unfortunately is my favorite Fleetwood Mac being member which would be Stevie nicks which gave an ultimatum to the band. Fire Lindsey Buckingham or fire me she said. Obviously Fleetwood Mac was not going to do as well without Stevie nicks so the choice was obvious. She needs to do a rethink. As right now Fleetwood Mac is not touring but Stevie nicks is and got permission from Fleetwood Mac to sing a few of their Fleetwood Mac band songs and they agreed to let her do so. Hoping Fleetwood Mac tours again but this time with Lindsey Buckingham back on board. And Fleetwood Mac will still never be as great as they were like I said without Christy McVie. Fleetwood Mac had all the right band members. Despite the feuds. I hope that Lindsay Buckingham's health improves and gets his life back on track and most of all other than wishing him great health, to be hired back to Fleetwood Mac.
I had a minor heart attack a few years ago and can tell there were other issues. If you don't change emotionally you heart will be hit...maybe irreparably.. Be careful friend.
Lindsey was thinking Someone has taken my place
When times go bad
When times go rough
I love Lindsey and the all of the members of FM...After the death of Christine....I sincerely hope that they can reconcile for one final farewell tour.
Back in June 2022 the late Chrissie McVie in a interview doubted when asked about one final tour w/everyone. She shot it down clearly mentioning a few of us are just to old to do a 50+ city tour and then a European stint. She mentioned she knows John McVie is not up to doing anymore touring as w/herself. Again noting their age/health wouldn't allow such a grueling tour schedule anymore. @6:37 you mention Mick Fleetwood is "is clearly entering his final third of his life." Huh? He's 75 years old. He entered that 15 yrs ago at 60.
Not, 60 is the new 45-50 for those of us who have taken care of their body & mind!…
My favorite Fleetwood Mac song is “Fireflies”. Lindsay is a brilliant musician but his toxic behavior over the years is well known. Toxicity creates illness whether your are on the giving or receiving end. I am tremendously saddened by Christine’s death. It’s devastating.
Our favorite too, you've got taste! What other types of video would you like to see?
Not true. The surgery COULD have hurt his vocal chords, but did not!
With Christine now gone that lineup of the most successful incarnation of Fleetwood Mac is gone. If they ever tour again this time they will need Lindsey to help pull the weight otherwise it will all be on Stevie. But that 2018 tour was the last open window of that successful lineup. Dino Dinelli of The Rascals just died. We are now entering a period in the next 10 to 20 years where lots of people from the 60s and 70s will perish.
The grudge should end. It has been 4 years. Let him come back. You don't even have to like him, Stevie. You broke the chain. You are seniors now so act like it. Your Dad has passed and you imagining what he might say is just that. Your imagination. Now get back to jamming together for your fans. Thank you.
Favorite song: Go Your Own Way.

Silver Springs my favorite. I was a fan since 1973 prior to Buckingham Nicks!
So his health has been declining since he was fired in 2018
Since Christine's death and Lindsay's exit it's time to hang up their boots now. The show will probably go on however, with Stevie Nicks croaking her way through the back catalogue. That magic has long gone. They were great as the unit they once were.

Love them all but I suppose my favorite was the line up from "The Dancce." Lindsay nailed the banjo on "Say you love me."
without any of the original members of Fleetwood Mac, it just will never be the same. sorta like lambert doing mercury. Sometimes its best to just to move on.
