  • This episode is with Geraint Lewis.
He is a Professor of Professor of Astrophysics at the Sydney Institute for Astronomy, part of the University of Sydney's School of Physics. His research focuses on the 'dark side of the universe', the matter and energy that shapes our cosmos. His books include 'A fortunate universe' and 'The cosmic revolutionary's handbook'. His latest book is 'Where did the universe come from' co-authored by Prof. Chris Ferrie.
In this conversation we talk about theory of gravity, quantum physics, Big Bang, Expansion of the universe?, Matter, how do the elements form?, Antimatter, Dark matter and Dark energy.

Law of One by Ra. I listen to the version Maffymoose has on YT, but you can find the material in various places, it certainly does make you wonder after listening to it, or reading it, some of the things they talk about are directly to this material presented here. I'm not saying it's the end all to beat all, but it sure does propose some interesting idea's about energy, about the universe, about where we come from, how we developed... Some of the material is kinda supported by some of the things talked about in The Lacerta Files, hard to find the original, but it's about an hour or so long... maybe more. The Ra material explains about the Pyramids, what they are supposed to be used for.. I keep an open mind, not gonna say it's " gospel " but it will sure keep the old synapses going for a while....

Many ancient cultures had this understanding that our universe comes from nothing, but even the understanding of 'nothing' no one would have imagined in the past. This is what I think, our ancestors were intelligent creatures. We need to take their learning and update it science :)

It's an eternal and on the large scale, static multi-verse. Focus tightly in on the bubble universes, they are popping in and out existence for no reason, every possibility forever repeating, close up on our human and planet scale seeming to be unique and evolving. From a distance ….. nothing changes… jiggles a bit, shifting into meaningless ever repeating complexity for no reason. Everything for ever, I reckon, is the same as nothing for never.

It may as well be, difficult to figure out though! Do universes interact?

@@ReasonwithScience Thanks for the reply, yes if it’s not nothing, as is obviously the case, then where is the cut off for the something? … only a resultant eternity of an infinite variety of somethings constantly repeating seems to make sense, and to me, that just seems to be a variety of nothing because it does not really change ……. but then what would I know? …. especially since I’ve had this thought an in infinite number of times before and will hence … from nothing to nothing in an infinite loop

@@freehandsky Right. Although is our universe is infinite, then it won't matter. We'll never what's beyond it. Until unless if there are some sort of traces (radiation etc) which would mean something different existing beyond our universe.

Sure did hate it when Geraint's feed faded and we lost the end of his statement @13:23 regarding the languages of science.
Optimally, you would have caught that and fixed it at the end, filling in the missing verbiage. Oh well.
    We encourage better coverage.

ok, while I have no issue with 'the big bang' as such - what about the law of conservation of energy - (energy cannot be created or destroyed) - WHERE did all that energy come from???? (sorry, this is before watching - damm youtube keeps recommending such interesting topics, but I really need to get some sleep... )

    • @ReasonwithScience

Indeed, conservation of energy is important and energy(+mass) in the universe remain conserved.

@@ReasonwithScience It would be impossible to condense life experience into a few words to make you understand. All I can say is actually use the faculties that you posses and look at everything with skepticism and wonder. Question the most fundamental so-called "truths" that are espoused. Just because a theory is widely accepted does not make it factual. Start at the beginning.
