    I am so happy I came across this video! I'm going to set up one of your ghetto test lungs because your demo of PEEP is such a great way visualize it for the students!

    Thank you for this video! I am new to the transport world and this vent scares me LoL especially the BIPAP aspect of it. Thank you again!!

    It'd be nice if these things could do weaning parameters. And I don't mean their SBT ability in the internal menus. I'm talking about NIF, and Vital Capacity. These things argood though.

    Patient in PS in LTV
    will it get a back up rate or no in apnea episode? If no how will the px be compensated?

    • @henrythatrtguy6448
      @henrythatrtguy6448  Před 4 lety +1

      You can put the patient in SIMV and make the back up rate low/ Vt volume and let the patient just ride the PS/ peep.

      Benoucheca Pierre it certainly has the capability, you can set ac and check plateau pressures. It has a good pressure control mode as well.

    Why is the filter at the vent? It should be on the patient side of the circuit shouldn't it?

    • @hbomb1512
      @hbomb1512 Před 4 lety +2

      Jason Keef no, the bacteria filter protects the vent/patient from contamination, an HME goes on the patient side.

    • @jasonkeef600
      @jasonkeef600 Před 4 lety

      @@hbomb1512 I was told that it was essentially a 1 way circuit at that point, the filter needing to be on the patient side so contamination doesn't get exhaled out the exhalation side. Perhaps I had been told wrong.

    • @henrythatrtguy6448
      @henrythatrtguy6448  Před 4 lety +2

      @@jasonkeef600 the filter is designed to prevent cross contamination between the machine and patient. The LTV has an exhalation limb that doesn't seem to be filtered. I do know that the manufacturer doesn't approve the filter to be placed at anywhere other than than at the machine and distal to the patient. If you were taught otherwise, I guess it couldn't hurt, it actually makes a lot of sense! Just know that the filter is designed to act as barrier between the machine and patient for possible back pressure contamination and is not medically approved to filter the exhaled air that escapes from the expiratory limb. There are actually some studies that say that the bacterial filter doesn't really decrease incidents of infection, so it seems to just be a CYA/money maker thing from the manufacturer. I am no infection control expert; I would adhere to your protocols and company guidelines for use. Great question! I'll look more in this, you have me curious now!

      Actually condensation is higher closer to the patient and trigger the vent to recycle so its safer when the filter is placed distal to the patient
