this is pretty cool! i planespot from my backyard because EWR departures (when departing south) always go over my house at like 3000-5000 feet, but I just use a telescope/phone mount. Are there any good cheaper cameras for something like this?

Thank you! Really depends on your budget, I don’t know of any telephoto camera/lens setups that are significantly under $1k unless you are willing to sacrifice some image quality.

I’d use any canon powershot,I recommend the sx4l0is used they are like 60$ and the digital zoom goes up to 160x
