My understanding is the judges will always be able to consider public safety. It is about not allowing someone to sit in jail for months, and likely not guilty of any crime. The police are on record power tripping and manufacturing things to bust people on.

You are granted a fair trial and fair bail under the constitution. You start stripping people of that you are stripping them of constitutional rights. Look at everywhere that bail reform has been implemented, and you will see that it has drastically failed. Sure at first jail population numbers will be down and they will tell you all about it. What they don't tell you is while jail population is down crime rate will sky rocket. Then as those people thar are "innocent untold proven guilty" miss court, they will not be allowed to get out. Therefore jail population will skyrocket and then what do you do? The bail reform platform is being pushed on miss information. There are no people sitting in jail and can't afford bail over stealing candy bars. No where in the United States is that even a jail able crime. You will be booked and receive a summons. There is also very rarely people that can not afford bail. Most bonding companies require very little money down and low payments. I am a Bondsman in Youngstown ohio. Before they changed the law people with gun charges were an automatic $4000 bond. That means through a bondsman you pay him $400. Now if you don't have the $400 you pay $200 and payments on the rest. Or domestic violence was $3500. Now these people are getting booked and OR/PR bonded. That means I can beat my wife and be out of jail in less then a few hours. If you care about your civil liberties you will vote yes on issue 1.

When a Judge says "I know the law says I cannot do this, but I am doing it anyway" that judge needs to be banned from the court room. Judges are there to interpret the law and pass sentence not make the laws.

I've always been torn between Bail being a good thing or a bad thing. It sucks that if you have money you can pay to get out on bail and be out till your court date. If you dont have the money then you have to sit inside jail till your court date. America is the only country in the world with a "for profit" bail system. I'm torn between deciding if it's right or not. I know I would love to get out of jail on bond and be able to work and be with my family till my court date comes up but that's only if I have the money or collateral to put down for the bail. If I dont have any money then I'm stuck in there with no bail. Most of the time people getting out on bail are people who are not a danger to the community or themselves, while also not being a flight risk. Most people who are arrested for serious violent crimes cannot get bail, unless of course they have a lot of money then the judge will probably set bail for a high amount to get that money. Now you will have someone who committed a violent crime or even murder being out on the street, even though most of the time people being charged for murder do not receive bail, or it's such a high amount that it's impossible to pay. What do you guys think in the comments about bail? You guys think it should be kept the same in America in our cities or should we abolish it all together like other countries? I only got 8 minutes into the video. I am disappointed in your information your portraying to the world. First, bails should be eradicated. Remember "innocent until proven guilty." Also, fear does not deter crime. Neither does more police. You also said the young people are committing crimes because they know they are not going to face consequences. Honestly, you need to look at the stats, there are more males in jail/prison and there is a disproportionate amount of black males/females in jail/prison. New Jersey has been doing this for awhile and their crime rate isnt any hire, and their rate of re offense is actually going down. The working poor who get busted with drugs and lose there homes and jobs because they can’t afford a 100 dollar bound, those are the people most effected.
