Cheers Wayne
Thanks Ryhs, your reaction to hooking that pike was hilarious lol 😂😂
utter shock and amazement Sam!
Stunning pike ......Great fun on the fly
Thank you!
Nice change Rhys , I’ve had a few on the fly , great change from Trout 👌👌🇮🇪
your right. Some great pike to be had in Ireland!
@@RhysFishes yes where I’m based in Cork we have the Lee Reservoir System , great Pike fishing
Brilliant video Rhys , love the background music (compass and guns) at the beginning. Love your reaction to catching that pike you're like a kid on Christmas Day. Best video to date 👍
Many thanks Sean 👍
The drama and the suspense! 😱
Those POV shots of Jeremy running with the net had me on tenterhooks!
You can guess how we were both feeling in the moment!
Brilliant video Rhys, Yet again. Fancy making Jeremy do a cross country run with the net! You nearly shat yourself when it took!
Thanks Paul. The perils of only take 1 net haha
Awesome😂 dad dad😂 like a wee boy again👌
gut instinct speaks for itself. When in doubt, call your father 😂
That is - by far - the best video you have done to date. well done.
Thanks for your kind feedback Paul. Much appreciated
Excellent video guys!! Really makes you want to go pike fishing 🎣 🐊
you bet!
On a cold and horrible night tonight that’s a great watch and just makes you want to have a crack at a pike 👍. What a fish those two were gents. Well done landing that on the fly gear Rhys 👏👏👏
Cheers Martin!
Looking forward to the next adventure great videos
Thanks Perazzi
Looks like you quite enjoyed that Rhys!!!!
Excellent video
Thanks Meach! Definitely a different feeling
Excellent fishing guys 👌
cheers Allan
Once had a 9lb pike on a buzzer in Ravensthorpe. Thanks for the great video lads. Cheers
Cheers David
Not into non trout fishing usually but that was Awsome !
Thank you 😊
That was class mate 👌🏻
cheers Mark!
Great video these unknown places are becoming less & less. More on fly-fishing for pike would be great as I looking for tips. Barry
nice one Barry! hopefully more pike videos to come.
Rhys, That was great. I loved it. Amazing editing again. Justin is on at me to do the pike with him. Maybe. Take care mate. Shaun.
Give it a go Shaun. It's a different feeling hooking one of these
Fantastic video Reece cracking pike on both methods I usually go lure fishing for pike but I’ve been flyfishing up here in Scotland I haven’t done anything else maybe it’s time to get the lure rod & dead bait rods out I’m spoilt for choice with 30.000 lochs & Lochan’s to choose from 🐟🎣🏴🏴🏴🏴😂😂
Scotland's full of options and variety. Wish we had as much down here!
Wow! Imagine the fight on a Fly set up. Awesome!!!
completely different feeling to a trout fight B C. You just have to hold on and let it do it's thing.
Great video 👏👏👍. Try carp in the summer it’s great fun especially on a 5# outfit 😁👍
I have an old video on it here: czcams.com/video/SF9a9D6CGQE/video.html
For such a small pond, I wonder what they feeding on to get that size !!!!
Great fishing though guys, isn’t great the excitement of hooking onto something unknown, takes you back to when your kids 7-12 years of age fishing local ponds and the excitement of that float bobbing !!!!
Brilliant guys 👍🏼
you're right there! Sometimes it's nice to target the unknown rather than trout all the time.
FLIPPIN HECK!!! Was that JAWZ that you caught!!!? :)
Haha, Jeremy took the glory in this one!
Hi Rees fantastic video been watching your videos for ages this was one of the best, thanks for all your info on your vids
Regards Ian from Merseyside.
Thanks for the kind feedback Ian. Glad it was enjoyable!
@@RhysFishes sorry I spelt your name wrong can’t believe it
Yeah good video and something different. Still prefer the trout videos but I’ll still watch these ones and who knows, might even give it a go one day. Awesome video as usual. By far the best around and sound tracks are always amazing. 👍
Cheers Steve. Trout videos aren't going anywhere so don't worry 🎣
Paul from Two Novice Anglers here. That was brilliant !. We really enjoyed it. In fact we want to fish for pike on the fly now. We have had fun with carp but never pike. How about a tutorial in the studio please?
Cheers Paul. I'm relatively new to pike fly fishing myself, perhaps with a few more pike videos under my belt we can look at a tutorial 👍
Great videos. Can you do a quick video on when where why and how you would use a midge tip over a floating line with a long leader.
Fish sat in the top 3ft and it’s a flat calm or moderate breeze, fish a floater. Fish sat in the top 3ft but it’s a heavy or strong wind, fish a midge tip 👌
Great video your poor father was shattered by time he got to your fish my mate had a 26 and half pounds pike of the lake of monteith other week there and it wasn't even the biggest caught keep more different videos coming 👍👍
Will do Neil! That's a belter of a pike you had there.
Amazing Rhys keep it up, I just had to do a runner off a stream today apparently it was someone’s garden 😂
haha stay on the right side of beat next time!
Well I had a chance to catch pike with a fly pole. I was fishing smallish daredevil spoons in shallow water from a canoe. If I had a Zonker or a clouser or something it might have paid off. : )
you know where it lives now, go back and get it!
Top skills buddy.
Cheers Lindsay
Spielberg would be very jealous
Maybe I could teach him how to fish 😂
Nice pike there lads couldn’t stop laughing when he feel in the way round to you cause Iv don’t that a thousand times. All the very best 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🏴🏴🏴🏴
Cheers James. Got to keep Jerry on his toes now that he's retired!
@@RhysFishes Iv got a question for you pal of your still there please
Really good video👍You need a bigger net😁
Greetings from Sweden!
Welcome and thanks! time to invest in a pike net.
Cracking video again
Cheers Elliot!
A must do , Fly fishing for pike .
Definitely Stephen, just be careful with the teeth. Dangerous!
Nice video, awesome pike there! 😃👍 Were all takes this close to the margins?
Cheers Fly Rider. Actually no, Jeremy's fish took quite far out.
Rhys, great videos, been following your posts for some time now, all worth a watch.
May I ask, you were about to show us your set up when your dad hooked that monster, do you use a wire trace when fishing the fly?
Yes, I'd like to know that too
Yes James/Michael. Either a 20lb wire trace or a 60lb fluorocarbon leader. We found that there was more interest when we switched to the wire over the fluoro for some reason. On the business end were just dyckers flies. Fantastic baitfish imitation flies from Finland I believe.
Best staying away from fluorocarbon tippet, always steeltrace even in clear water, Pike dosent Care for steeltrace 😉
Much safer for the fish👍
Trying to kill Jez off making him run around the lake 😂 he sounded fucked bless him 🤣
Someone's got to keep him fit in his retirement 😂
Hi Rhys, how much do you rate the Maxcatch reel?. I’m looking to get one as a spare. Worth the money?.
Can't fault them tbh. We've used them a lot in the saltwater and they've held up very well.
Hi Rhys. I've been wanting to try fishing for pike on the fly but not sure what weight of fluorocarbon/setup I need. Any tips or steer would be appreciated!
I used a 9wt rod and fly line, 4ft of 20 fluoro attached to a 20lb wire trace 👍
@@RhysFishes cheers Rhys! How long would the trace be?
the lake looks like a fish !!
a pike, carp or sturgeon?
@@RhysFishes bit of a mix .great video bty
Great video, even though it wasn't Trout :D what do you think of the Maxcatch products Rhys ? they're building quite a good reputation on the forums
Haven't got a bad word to say about them tbh. We have their 9 wt rod and reels and their great for the bass. Probably not comparable to a sage etc.. but no complaints from me.
3:25 thanks Reece just shit myself lol 😂
Haha! welcome to how I was feeling!
Do you ever fish cwmtillery or llandegfedd reservoir?
Not for pike but would like to give it a go
We would like to see some videos of cwmtillery and llandegfedd trout fishing if possible mate
Very jealous Rhys! Where about are you based? I’m in Penygroes near cross hands
cheers tomos. South wales👍
👏👏👏
cheers Kevin
Is it its me or does that giant lake look like it’s shaped like a fish??????? Is that deliberate ??
a few people have made that comparison. Is it a carp, a pike or almost a sturgeon?
@@RhysFishes I think it’s deffo a carp, mate. Big fat lazy one.
