Duchess of Rutland passes away aged 86

- Frances Sweeny, the Dowager Duchess of Rutland has passed away at the age of 86.
She was the daughter of the infamous Margaret the Duchess of Argyll, who created a stir in British society in the 1960s when she divorced her second husband.
The Duchess of Rutland's granddaughter Lady Violet Manners posted a tribute to her grandmother on social media.
The Social media post paid tribute to what her grandmother had accomplished from mastering seven languages to training Arabian horses and chairing the local Conservative Party committee in later life.
Lady C knew her and had some interesting things to say about her toward the end of the video she posted yesterday. She was not a fan.

Frances was a Duchess in her own right the Duchess of Rutand and her landowning was significant. Margaret lost all of her claim to the duchy of Argyll because of the 11th Duke of Argyll protecting his 1st son inheritance. There was no relationship between the two duchies.
