MHRise: How Wyvernriding Can Break the Game

- Vycery practices her wyvernriding skills everyday before bed so she decided to show what she has learnt so far and that it's kinda OP actually.

"How to abuse a Monster with a Monster" TDS
At this point it is TDS's mission to just abuse a monster in every single way possible.
How to play Pokemon in Monster Hunter
So true
Hahaha
It's probably why Deviljho isn't in Rise yet. He'd probably continue attacking the poor creature after you dismount from him lol
Honestly I would love that feature as it fits quite well with deviljoe
Yeah xD
Deviljho is basically this in world
the difference is that in rise we must control the monster, and in world deviljho just do this from it's own free will 😂
@@xthintz yep iirc savage jho actually prefer to fight other monster than you
Jho is always after a update cause his gear is better on most cases
when a Rider becomes a Hunter
Imagine if Capcom comes up and says: "No mate, It was absolutely intended to be like this"
It would make sense that they wanted the main feature of the game to be good so the players wanted to use it
@@marcoasturias8520 at least the new mounting is cool and the whole session always tries to be first at a mountable monster, remember in iceborn when clutch claw got introduced and you were basically forced to use it?
@@No__Vanity didn´t play the expansion but I´ve heard how was it
@@No__Vanity but you are forced to wyvern ride too
@@Amoeba_Podre Not constantly though, in Iceborne you have to tenderize the monster every five or so minutes it be kill the monster effectively but in Rise you can wyvern ride one time during the hunt or as many times as you want depending on the cooldown and either way you can kill you target effectively since each wyvern ride does a large amount of damage.
Wow, I can't believe you guys got your hands on monster hunter stories 2 early!
lol
People actually play those?
@@AK-hl6cv yeah
@@AK-hl6cv yea
@@AK-hl6cv stories is an amazing rpg of course people love it
this may seem broken af yea, but this really only works best with rajang and magna. the other monsters riding attacks aren't nearly as fast or strong. so as long as not every quest has magna and rajang as the other monsters, this is fine. but capcom underestimated the determination for cheese
What about valstrax? His a really fast and agile wyvern ride
@@jackkrell7313 His attacks actually have a long startup.
The thing is if it's other monsters with slower attacks, I think it may be just another cycle of timer but the fact remains that it is still possible with only wyvern riding.
Mizutsune strong attack while holding right summons a bunch of bubbles that do good damage and dont fill up the bar much, he is my go to always
Its also worth it to get somacanth, his finisher ends with a guaranteed sleep breath which can lead to great damage
This is the Rise equivalent of killing monsters using your secret buddy, Savage Deviljho.
It is different. Savage Jho attacked naturally and freely. This is a complete mess... It really doesn't look like MH anymore. I like the """new""" ridding option, but this is not ok to a MH game. It's broken and actually turns the game into a joke, to those how don't know it.
@@pequizaoaflito2643 "Broken" only if you can have Rajang and Magnamalo on the same map as they have the fastest/strongest attacks with little wind up. Also around 9 minutes of total hunt. You don't really save time doing this, it's just stress free. This is far from breaking the game, considering you need specific skills and dango for it to be optimal. This is just another option of the plethora you have as a hunter. You aren't gonna see everyone suddenly try this strat in multiplayer lobbies, because the scaling wouldn't have the wyvern riding do enough damage to kill.
@@duskyer2391 in real MH (everything else before Rise) no monster van be killed without a weapon, not even the easiest monster in the game. Iceborne have the claw, but it was well thought, since you can't use it multiple times in sequence, because the monster gets angry and it doesn't work. The mechanic in Rise is broken. So broken that I only play trying to ignore the problems (they are a lot), like the spiderman movement. Dudes crossing the entire map without touching the floor. I'm sorry, but what the Dog for?? You can go faster than the dog with the magic insects..... Rise have a LOT of problems. The only way to enjoy it is not thinking about all of them.
@@pequizaoaflito2643 peppo finished world and iceborne without drawing his weapon tho?
@@pequizaoaflito2643 In World you can kill monsters with enough bombs. If you count Bombs as a weapon then Wyvern Riding, which uses Silk Bugs is also a weapon. The key issue of something being broken is if it's easily abused and negates other strategies. This specific instant not only requires a unique build, but specific monsters to be present. The speed is decent, but it's not at speed runner levels and isn't necessarily easy enough to invalidate all other hunting methods.
I would agree with you if it was both easy to use any hunt and strong enough to make other hunting methods obsolete. It's not and just another cool option you can pick if you build for it.
This is super interesting, actually makes you realize how much damage you end up doing when you mount monsters normally, not to mention how much you can actually optimize around it.
This actually reminds me of playing as a Palico in MHGU in terms of niche strats
Imagine what this must have looked like from the teostra’s perspective
Toestra: Aw. Not again!!! Why you guys gaming up like this
AND THEN MAGNAMALO COMES IN WITH THE STEEL FOLDING CHAIR
first ride: "Oh hey Rajang what's going onnnnnohhhmygod stooooop"
Second ride: "Maggie you won't believe what Rajang just did, he came in and just started shooting me with lazers..... why are you looking at me like that?"
5 minute break: "okay, I think I'm safe here, no one saw me move here."
third ride: "AGAIN Rajang?! SERIOUSLY!?"
Forth ride: "WHYYYYYYY?!!?!?!"
@@PerfectBrom GOOD GOD, IT'S PANDEMONIUM
Nice pfp, sns 2 coming out! So excited :)
I would love to see some kind of guide about the most efficient combo for each monster during wyvern ride. Normally it just boils down to spamming A or Back+A and cancelling the animation with B, but some monsters have multi-hit attacks or even combos that make them harder to compare.
Lagombi, Volvidon, and Azuros all share the same Heavy Attack combo, because they all share the same skeleton.
For Tetranadon, Back-B to Back-A works well. You get waterblight, then you get to do big numbers.
For the most part the Mash A and animation cancel is the best method. There's a couple monsters that have different attacks or attack power depending on their state when you mount them. If you mount Rajang when he's fully powered up, his beams do significantly more damage. Valstrax, if you mount him when his wings are red, you can shoot his giant chaos beam, otherwise you just get the jet dive. Tigrex, for his Down+A, do the spin then cancel, don't do the roar unless it's your final attack before punisher. The biggest thing is making sure you get your stagger out before the monster staggers you. Some Elder dragons can take 1 hit stagger free and interrupt you. There really isn't much finesse to wyvern riding though. A face roll on the controller will suffice in just about every scenario. The direction the monster is facing when you try to launch your ride into another monster to transfer does matter though. If your attack leaves you facing towards the wall and not the monster, beep beep here comes the wall.
@@BlackBeltGamers88 you also have to take blights and status into consideration. Most monsters have the ability to inflict at least one of them, and I'd say it's generally worth it to sacrifice 1 or 2 of the strong attacks to get a quick poison or fireblight.
Are there any monsters that can inflict a status on a light attack?

Even without maxing out the damage this is a very effective strategy. I did this last week on Valstrax and it was very effective. Mitsuzune and Almudron are very good targets for the wyvernride too.

"They" is also used as an agender pronoun that describes a singular person. A lot of non-binary people prefer they over "He", "She", or "It". In this case, Vycery is female (as far as I know), so "she" would have been more appropriate. However, "they" is not technically incorrect since it doesn't have any connotations about gender. "He" is just plain wrong, and "it" is rarely used since it objectifies and dehumanizes people. The more you know.
TLDR: They can be used to describe a single person when you don't want to say anything about gender.

Aboslutely impressive. Well done. I gotta try this out.
All I'm saying is that I know what the strategy is going to be for the MH:Rise no damage run..
Damageless, hitless, armorless.
*weaponless*
If he ever does it Rise gives some pretty awful hitboxs a lot of the time so going damageless is going to be absolutely insane of not impossible
@@Lator_Gator why would they ever take damage if they're invincible while wyvern riding, no hitbox can stop that lmao
@@THE_Mirage you can't infinite wyvern ride and he would still need to grind for the skills he has so wyvern riding is not always the answer

@@Yourmom-oo1zr It's supposed to be powerful but I guess it does too much? Maybe extend the cooldown or something and make it so you can only ride one monster every 15min or something.
I like how this unofficially told me how much health teostra can have during a quest lol
I know right :) I was looking for that to
Lol
How much health he has with one person, remember the more people you have the stronger the monsters get. So this is the weakest teostra in terms of health
With an awesome content like this, impossible to not be subscribed
The thing I love the most about Wyvern Riding is that you make the monster you're NOT riding drop materials, probably more than you'd get by just carving. It makes farming for large quantities of a monster's common materials so much easier.
Also, the Puppet Spider's method of making a monster ride-able isn't quite what the video states. When placed on the ground, it shoots some webbing that makes the monster instantly enter a Ride-able state if it hits.
Never thought that Monster Hunter would have a build made around becoming Sasori of the Red Sand.
"You're not dealing with the average Monster Hunter anymore."
Teostra: Oh my GOOOOOOOOD.
So, no one's gonna talk about the awesome OST played in the background of the vid? It's Black Ops Rooftops and the Black ops 2 theme. Both are my favorite COD games of all time. I think you earned yourself a subscriber.
i recognized the blackops music from kowloon-rooftops immediately from the vocals at the start, gives me nostalgia pog
I need to know that layered armor setup
It is the Spio set (Skalda for the male version).
Interesting... I always felt like riding was cool conceptually but pretty underwhelming in terms of damage done. It's still worth because of parts breaking but otherwise I didn't care too much for it. It's so cool that you managed to find a build to make it work so good!

The real icing on the cake is the Teo Gem that Vycery got from quest rewards.
I had no idea that was even possible lol good stuff as always 👏 was that black ops 2 music there at the end? 🤔
You could hit the blue waterfall when mounting theostra for more extra 2k damage
Yeah most people forget about the volcano water and lava walls lol
You'd be trading the ability to mount Magnamalo and kill Teostra after the 5 min cooldown for 2k damage and having to wait another 5 minutes or find a second puppet spider.
For this strategy specifically, it'd be detrimental.
teo def has more health than that when Im using a LS for sure
Yes and no. A monster's health has a bit of randomness to it, but it is unrelated to your weapon. First, a monster has a base HP which is common for all monsters. Than, that base HP is modified by a multiplier depending on whether it is encountered in a village, LR Hub, or HR Hub settings. That's not all, there are some other parameters : basically, all what influences it then are the following : the exact * number of the quest, how many targets there are for this quest, the number of players, whether or not a player has eaten the food skill "felyne weakener", and finally a tinge of randomness added each time you start a quest. For a Teostra in the "Emperor of Flame" quest with 1 hunter, its health can go from a tad less than 17k to almost 20k. So with the teostra in the video having between 17352 and 17520 HP, it's truly on the low side, but the difference isn't enormous.
3:05 that throwback to black ops 2 and it’s music oh my god
Freaking awesome video!
Rather than being broken, I feel like this is another intended playstyle for hunter to build and execute. There are some obvious limitations to this build but it is a viable one nonetheless. And it does certainly seem a stronger build than the companion one.
yes, I can see this build being used well in rampage quests

I wish the CZcamsrs would quit calling for nerfs. It’s annoying for solo players who aren’t trying punish themselves. Higher difficulty - Fine but “nerf everything it’s too easy” it’s very annoying to me and it’s primarily said by people who just play to game too much for it to be a challenge anymore.
how can you use rajang's beam attack any time i ride rajang i end up doing his spin attack.

ちゃんと狩ってる自分より早くて草
9 minutes, i don't think this is broken at all. i think it's great to have that as a viable option. especially when skilled hunters can clear with weapons under that time.
Nice, thank you.
This is dope, my kind of monster hunting
笑顔の時間を論理で超えてきたか
This isn't broken. I'd venture to say that most players can't easily accomplish what you did here, as you'll gather from most of the comments about constantly wirebugging through the air, and then mounting both Rajang and Magnamalo with only a few well-placed hits...
TDS eats, sleeps, and breathes Monster Hunter, so it's to be expected. Just give yourselves a pat on the back, and let the rest of us appreciate the skills of players who have invested tens of thousands of hours in the series.
Welllllll this is actually pretty easy to pull off and I'm not a professional just takes closer to 10 minutes for me
Yeah it's doable. :) just takes a bit of lactose.
This is really easy, so yeah Its fucking Broken.
I do this set up but with the Melynx tool version of the sns and do some paralyze damage in between the wait times, it let's other hunters really build up damage too. Sliding attack for the switch skill really hastens the riding build up too if you can't be bothered to get the puppet spider
I use the great sword and i want to use the bow eventually. For the great sword do you use the hunter edge or the adamant slash to get the wyvern riding? Everyone i ever see uses the S&S as an "example" is it because the silkbind skill is so easy that everyone uses the s&s as the example? can you do a video getting the wyvern riding skill with each weapon? I hit the monster with adamant slash (non quest target) but it takes forever to get the wyvern riding skill to pop up. Everyone i see uses the S&S as an example and gets the wyvern riding in one hit. what am i doing wrong besides not using the S&S?
as a veteran, playing since mh2fu, i like where the game is going. it went from build attack and crit modifiers to more creative ways of killing the monster. i think this should stay in the game. because only a small minority will be able to come up with this, lead alone used it forever. and even if. i kill teostra faster than 8 minutes. so what's the big deal.
i think this was, is and should be intended.
The best thing about this game is the mobility. It's nice to have this mobility after years of walking in this game. Really changes things up.
Im very sorry but i have to disagree. I played since mh1 days and there was beauty in taking things slow and i feel the best iteration of how monster hunting is was done best in MHW. This game doesnt feel like a monster hunter game in my opinion. It is a good game still but i just dont feel for this rise game as much :/
@@russelllee5594 MHW and Rise aren't so different, MHW mobility post iceborn was actually insane.
Lances could charge almost forever.
Dual blades zip zapping around like nothing.
Longswords ... well are longswords.
Tbh only the omega heavy weapons were not as mobile.
Fucking hammer was super mobile.
I think MHW is the best monster hunter iteration by far, BUT at the very very VERY endgame some things just went TOO fucking far.
AT Nergigante + AT Lunastra + AT Teostra + Fatalis were just TOO much, they could have been toned down and would still be a challange and NOT be an absolute nightmare fest at times.
If you had bad RNG Lunastra would hunt you down worse than a yandere does other women man.
Rise is even more mobile, I like that at the moment, BUT we dont even have extreme challanges in the game yet, I hope they will not overtune the super endgame monsters again.
I like to run my dual blade evasion build with the evade extension, very long dashes, quick escapes.
In and out + still doing good damage.
I rather have the freedom of mobility + builds than being extremely locked into DMG DMG DMG.
I do not know how this build scales when there's more players around and if it can negatively impact other player experience. This is probably the answer to whether the solution is good.
@@russelllee5594 ah yeah mhw where you pick hbg with divine blessing + guard up and just afk in front of the monster
You can also use a Stinkmink on yourself to lure a monster towards another. If you stinkmink, the monster will chase you even past the fight zone until it either meets another monster or the stinkmink wears off.
Nice to see how many build people can make. I like to fight with the monster tho..thumbs up!!
Awesome job, nicely done, 16 weapons
