    Yeonwoo: are you satisfied with this ko if you are black?
    Me: yes, i'm pretty satisfied
    Yeonwoo: No. No, you are not.
    Me: Oh ...

    Very interesting problem thank you.
    Can’t believe you kept coming back to mirror moves in a symmetrical position, I thought it was obvious for everyone even beginners that in a symmetrical position if a move doesn’t t work then the mirror move won t work neither ...

    Hi and thank you for the video. But just for the record, would you tell me what's the state of the white stones trapped inside the black group after the tenuki at the end? Is it seki or are they counted as dead and in blacks territory?

    I thought of the winning move, but I tried playing it much too soon.

    parallel thinking, thinking outside the box!

  • @okty8372
    @okty8372 Před 4 lety +5

    it's hard because of the puzzle presentation ! Maybe in a game if this shape happened you would think easily of playing outside because there would be moves to play outside that box; it's like a magic trick your so focus on one thing that you dont see the trick !

    When was Lee-Changho shown this problem? Was this on a TV show or something? Sounds like an interesting anecdote

    One of my long time favorite problem. There was another one, that was kind of a hard time for pro players as well. I shall try to find it back. If it's ever interesting to you ^^

    Oh I saw Wang Yuan (8dan) have a lecture on this before! But my question is that if black has to tenuki for one move to keep this group alive, then how will this be judged in a competition scenario?

    This shape reminds me.of actual tanuki

  • @DaimondRus
    @DaimondRus Před 4 lety +6

    If this happens in game (japane's rules) and black choose the last solution (where they just tenuki and ignore this groop) who's territory this will be if white ignore it to ? Will this be a seki?

    • @uw10isplaya
      @uw10isplaya Před 4 lety +1

      It's seki in all rule-sets. White has to ignore by definition or W dies inside. It's no one's territory.

    • @andylong9832
      @andylong9832 Před 3 lety

      Yes both groups are alive

    I figured out tenuki once it got to that diagram. Partial credit.

  • @EriqireM
    @EriqireM Před 4 lety

    So its seki, but how is it scored? Are all 4 points neutral, or are the bottom two black?

    • @seneca983
      @seneca983 Před 3 lety

      I think in most rulesets they would be neutral. Ing rules might be different.

  • @CoyMcBob
    @CoyMcBob Před 4 lety +1

    I'm confused, wouldn't that just be seki, if neither player can capture each other?

    • @o1cy880
      @o1cy880 Před 3 lety

      It is seki when she mean alive she meant it by anyway

    isnt this seki? cause neither player wants to play inside

  • @antoncharles17
    @antoncharles17 Před 4 lety

    The problem is not basic but it goes back to the most basic rules there is in the game: the game requires 2 players. Beautiful.

  • @TheFreeSpiritKID
    @TheFreeSpiritKID Před 4 lety +1

    Isn't this seki? Because whoever plays first is gonna die

    Nice video. It's good to see such a great player fail miserably at such an easy problem. I remember also a pro whose name i don't remember, who self-atari his stones.
    I will feel less ashamed the next time I won't be able to find the solution to a problem because the only move is also the only one that I didn't take the time to read because I found it absurd at first sight.
    Nice cap by the way.

  • @willyojeda6396
    @willyojeda6396 Před 4 lety +5

    Why isn't that seki? Is it becouse there are 2 black groups?
