    Thank you for reviewing the Comanche 250. Impressive flight and enjoyed the commentary. BTW, you can remove the pilot by opening the door and click on the anti slip black portion of the wing or going on the walk around. Time acceleration isn’t currently supported but we do plan to support it in the future. Also fair point on the downloads, it makes sense thinking about it to just make that unlimited. Thanks again for the feedback, both praise and criticism.

    Here's a fun little detail that doesn't seem to be mentioned in the manual: When you do the walk around, you can check the pitot heater. There's a clickspot on the pitot tube. Normally, if you click on it, the tube gets a blue-ish glow. However, if the tube is heated up, you'll get a red glow instead as an indicator that it is warm.
    EDIT: Also, I must admit that I skipped ahead to your conclusion and have yet to watch the whole video, so I may have missed that bit, but when you say that you couldn't remove the pilot model, did you look at the following section from the FAQ in the manual?
    "How do I remove the pilot from the plane?
    Open the cabin door and click the black non-slip walkway on the wing.
    But I can’t open the door!
    It’s a two-part process: first unlock the latch at the top of the door by rotating it forward, and then use the handle below the window. Bear in mind that if the engine is running, the prop wash will push the door closed."

    • @tommijeep
      @tommijeep Před 11 měsíci

      Just to add, the pitot also has a heat haze.

      Hi BF,
      I must confess, I didn’t even consider the FAQ section - thanks for the info!

    Scott Gentile and Co (A2A) are second to none, Scott being an IRL pilot really tries to get simmers to feel as close as to what we feel when we fly IRL. Given no simulation is ever going to be like flying IRL, but as far as at home products goes, A2A IS THE GOLD STANDARD.

    Hands down this is the most realisticly behaving aircraft for msfs2020 to date.
    I am a student for light aircraft in real life and the comanche feels very close to real flying, whether in the air, during landing (e.g. slipping) or during the flare.
    I enjoy a lot of other planes in the sim but NOTHING compares to A2As comanche.

      Indeed Peter, but as they say; “good things come to those who wait” - that was certainly the case with the Comanche. I love that A2A take their time, create relatively little fanfare, wait until everything has been finished properly and then just put out an absolute corker of a product. Truly amazing. Can't believe A2A managed to shoehorn so much functionality into this plane. Outstanding video & really comprehensive review. It's difficult not to get drawn along with you, when you have such an obvious passion for both A2A & the Comanche. Will it come to the Xbox? Somehow, I don't think so, but I can hope. The sound of the wheels and suspension during taxi!
    The metallic "thunk" from the wing spar(?) when you get hit by a gust!
    Actually being able to tell an engine fault from the sound + all the other great little details. Not to mention the great handling that seems to avoid the usual msfs problems.
    I'm an A2A newb but I see what the fuss is about.
    I'd have to say the external visuals aren't the best, noticeable because the rest is so good.
    I think this might actually save me some money, because I won't be looking for "the" piston single any more.

      Ahhh, I didn’t realise. Welcome to the (wonderful) world of A2A then, Roland! : )
      I’ve long said, I think one of A2A’s biggest tricks (alongside their superb engine modelling), is their excellent use of sound. Not only do their highly detailed soundsets make the aircraft feel more immersive / alive, but also realistic (sounds make up for some of the feedback that we generally lack in the sim, as you described above).
      I agree on the visuals. Not bad by any means, broadly on a par with Just Flight’s GA aircraft, but a Carenado model with A2A systems, would be a match made in heaven!
      It may well save you some money, until the next A2A aircraft comes along ; )

      A2A have historically worked on a mix of GA aircraft and warbirds (as well as a couple of classic prop-liners). I have my fingers and toes crossed that we’ll see a return of the A2A Spit one day (and the rest of their warbirds) but, if I was a betting man, I’d say it’s more likely we’ll see another of their GA aircraft next. What a week. Waiting for this and JF F28 for two years, and they arrived within a week. An expensive week and both fighting for my my attention now.
    As expected, you did a complete preflight and run up. Some other reviewers just jump in and start up, as you may do with other aircraft in msfs.
    Be aware of maintenance and preflight is not an addon for just immersion that you may skip. - A2A accusim will certainly bite you for not taking care of YOUR aircraft. I know from experience with stuck l/h flap inP3d - and inflight engine shutdown. Both memorable moments.
    Thanks - hope you will be back soon with both JF F28 and A2A Comanche.

      Thanks very much Øystein! Indeed, it is the sort of details that you mention, that really set A2A aircraft apart from the rest. I love the fact that a proper walk around, run-up etc are required, as that’s all part of real world flying. As you say, neglect to carry these sorts of things out and an A2A aircraft will often punish you for it. I took the A2A Texan on an around-the-world tour a few years ago and it was a genuinely interesting experience, with some memorable moments (and failures haha) along the way.
      I already have another video planned for both the F28 and the Comanche, though I’m on my holidays at the moment, so it might be some time before I get around to recording anything.

    Great review of a superb add on! As for your sound problem, it’s most likely related to the FS2020 ‘exe.xml’ file. If for some reason the text in this file isn’t in the correct format, the A2A installer can’t insert the required section to autostart the sound module. Apparently the Fenix installer is a major culprit. Luckily the xml is easily edited and what worked for me was to correct the existing problem then re-run the A2A installer and it’ll install the required text. Also the view forward is angled down by 12.5 degrees so as to be optimised for a monitor but isn’t right for VR so I also edited the ‘cameras.cfg’ and changed the ‘initial pbh’ part to 0,0,0, this gives a straight forward view.

    As always, superb, but please A2A, make ambient sounds available when engine is shut down and the door is open. It just adds so much more immersion into the environment, and it’s such a shame it’s not a feature at the moment.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  Před 10 měsíci

      It’s a fair observation, Steve and I noticed the same thing myself. I guess the lack of sound internally, is due to the Comanche using external code for the aircraft’s sounds (rather than simply using the sim’s ambient sounds). Luckily, it’s only an issue for a small portion of the flight, but it does kill the immersion a little. Presumably, it wouldn’t be too tricky for A2A to address the issue, so hopefully they will do so at some point.

    The A2A hype is real. Thanks for your review (tbh, it's been a while since I watched one of your reviews to the end, mainly because of limited interest in many of the planes you reviewed recently, also because I generally don't like when developers hand out review copies before release, for personal reasons).
    You mentioned the download limit in the A2A store as a negative. If people have an issue with that (I don't, I've never used up all my downloads, and I trust that developers using this system, like MilViz (Blackbird) or A2A, would reset the counter if necessary), they could just wait until the product is available from another store with a different policy. I think it would be fair to mention the other side of the issue: with A2A planes you don't have to worry about serial numbers or DRM. Unpack, install, and you're done. They don't punish paying customers for the misdeeds of others.
    Regarding running the audio helper manually, as I understand it, the main reason for this happening is that MSFS fails to read the exe.xml fully because some other add-on introduced a syntax error in the XML, and MSFS only parsed the file up to that point. Checking the file (there are XML validators online) and perhaps fixing that syntax error should resolve the issue for most people.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  Před 10 měsíci

      Haha, indeed Marc; I think that A2A thoroughly deserves every bit of praise they receive for the Comanche (and any of their other addons)!
      The download limit isn’t a major issue and I know why A2A have chosen to have one of course, but I imagine it does little to stop any piracy and whilst A2A may handle such things in a reasonable fashion, not all addon developers do. I do have a few other addons where I’m almost bumping up against my download limit. . . As you say though, no DRM protection etc, which is great.
      Thanks very much for the info regarding the my sound issues! I shall have to take a look at the exe.xml when I get a chance.
      Much appreciated and all the best! : )

      I certainly remember the A2A 377, though I never had a chance to fly it myself (I always wanted to, but was too poor at the time haha). One fun thing I would like to see is a having a “Rental” option whereby you are flying a used aircraft that may have 1,2 or 3 faults with it. Assuming you do the walkaround and pre-flight checks properly you should pick these up. If not, if the fault causes a crash, you get an NTSB report showing the cause of the crash. Maybe in 2024 ? 😀

    Hello great review as always ! You missed out the towing feature:) I think the level of detail didn’t get through completely. I watched a few dev videos and it is absolutely amazing how deep the engine and systems are modelled. You can hear 1 Zylinder failure in the sounds. The sounds for example when taxing on gras were made by towing the real plane with a car so there is no engine sound. The product is made with passion and love. It’s also rare to see such perfectionism. The Xbox version which just came out has just a minor. A product like no other. That said it all :)

      Hello again Michael,
      Thanks very much for your thoughts and I’m glad you enjoyed the video! For sure, I didn’t cover every single aspect of the product but, I don’t think I could have done whilst still keeping the video at a “reasonable” length. I purposefully chose not to focus on the towing feature (though I did make mention of it) and whilst it would have been nice to cover some failures, I will have to save that for another day. I think I may have given some examples of the lengths that A2A went to, in order to produce the Comanche but, either way, the addon is clearly a product of passion and love, as you say! The Comanche is one of a kind currently and I can’t wait for more A2A addons in MSFS : )
      Cheers and all the best!

    GA aircraft in the sim hasn’t generally excited me much (I do like the Milviz 310R a lot though) until this. I think this has to be something I pick up. It seems exceptional.
    (Edit) I bought this. Oh my god, this thing is nigh-on perfect. It's the plane that all other planes should aspire to, in terms of features, flight model, failure modelling et al. And I include the airliners in that comment. This is the best aircraft in the sim, simply put.

      The sound problem is affecting a few users, it’s in the A2A forum. It’s related to an improperly formatted ‘exe.xml’ file but is easily fixed.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  Před 10 měsíci

      Hi Jack,
      I suspect A2A would readily reset the download limit, but with some devs this process is more reliable than with others. Having a download limit is a little pet peeve of mine, though of course I understand why devs do it and I can’t say that I blame them really.
      The sound issue is slightly annoying, but it seems that the root cause has already been figured out, so hopefully a fix can be implemented quickly (if the first patch hasn’t already taken care of it).
      Haha, my pleasure on the dedication! Thanks for watching and all the best : )

    As a selling point, I would say if you are struggling with crosswind landings, and takeoffs, and find yourself skewing about on the runway, get this, and immediately reevaluate your skills. And also learn some new skills needed, like actually needing to turn into the wind after landing to keep the upwind wing down. A superb plane, and highly recommended.

    I'm curious, if you were to "forget" removing one of the tie-downs on the wing, would the aircraft proceed to do circles on the apron while applying power to taxi out? Saw this happen back in the day to a fellow peer during flight training, wondering if there is true "fidelity" 🤣

      I did an auction aircraft to get done wear and tear. I started to do my walk around and the left aileron was kind of sticky and was squeaking a lot. Started playing with it more and then decided to have my passenger start moving the yoke to move the ailerons and the damn thing broke. That could have been super disastrous. Mate ;-) As always - your reviews are second to none! Solid - always. I agree in your parallel comparison to PMDG - this A2A product is to GA aircraft what PMDG are to the Pax Jet Airliners.
    Just a teaser - Let´s be honest - on a day flight sortie, like in your review, you wouldn´t necessarily check any of the lights, other than the beacon light, on your walk around/external inspection..? Would you IRL? Honestly, no harm done in doing it, other than often the batts on these "old Ladies" are not always fresh and new and considering that you may want to preserve every bit of Voltage for the engine starter.

      Haha, well I don’t really do any GA flying these days. When I was flying GA, I would typically check all of the lights; your point is a valid one though and on some aircraft, I would do a quick whiz around of the lights pitot etc, then turn the battery off and continue on with the rest of the walkaround. I never got caught out, although on one occasion I did come close, in a clapped-out C152 haha XD

    I agree with your conclusion as always! My quick and easy way to check the realism of an aircraft's mass and inertia on MSFS, is to look at the compression of the landing gear suspension on touchdown and the Comanche from A2A Simulation reproduces the physics quite well. On the other hand, a maximum of 10 downloads for a purchase hurts my demanding consumer side. A2A should take inspiration from Just Flight for their impeccable customer service (no max downloads). A2A missed the opportunity to use the realistic visual rendering that MSFS 2020 masters so well. The Comanche looks flat (2D instead of 3D) and washed out (no PBR: Physically Based Rendering), as it doesn't reflect "really" the aircraft's environment (ground, buildings, clouds, etc.). PBR is the new norm now... and the crown jewel of MSFS 2020-24!

      @IntotheBlueSimulations  Před 10 měsíci

      Haha, well thanks very much 06L, I’m glad you feel that I broadly hit the nail on the head! ; )
      The download limit is a shame. Quite a few people are perplexed as to why I brought it up. 1) I do own one or two addons, where I’m knocking up against the limit (some devs handle this just fine, but not all). 2) It’s a product that I’ve purchased. So psychologically, it just grates a little, when I’m told how many times I can download it. 3) If the dev isn’t on their A-game, it can mean a couple of days without being able to use a product, whilst one waits for their download limit to be restored.
      Is there no PBR on the Comanche then?? As I mentioned during the review, I thought the texturing looked a bit “off”, but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. A very strange choice from A2A. . . The product is still excellent, but PBR rendering is virtually a given these days.
      Thanks for your thoughts and all the best! : )

    It truly is the most realistic airplane in the sim. No doubt. It flies like a real airplane does. One critique I would give is that the wind noise is overwhelming with any vents open in the cabin…. A touch too much. But I’m grasping. I would also agree about the texturing. A touch basic… compare it to the FI BF109…. Not quite there. I won’t be flying much else now.
    I also forgot how capable the Comanche is. A very stable aircraft, and also can get in and out of fairly short strips too.

    ** What traffic are you using where the parked aircraft are not generic? ** That preflight feature is positively insanely awesome. As a mechanic not a fan of the Comanche in real life. They are not easy to work on, have a horrendous AD on the stabilator, and the cockpit is just difficult to work under the instrument panel. Many have had an illegal modification of the brake calipers that leads to notches cut into the main spar which as you can imagine weakens the main spar of the friggin wing, That said, this simulation is just incredible. I mean, it even has a sound for the mechanical rotatating beacon. That is just a gorgeous simulation.

    love this plane, but unless I'm missing something, it's impossible to forget to replace the fuel tank caps and covers, they close themselves when you move to the next walkaround position. Same for the oil check flap. Would be cool if you could forget these things and see the results from inside the plane, and maybe even see fuel or oil coming out. Maybe eventually they will add that? BTW the "USD" thing is used gallons of fuel if you didn't already figure that out :)

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  Před 10 měsíci

      Not sure on that one SEG - I hadn’t checked that myself. I doubt you are missing anything though, I would imagine it’s just a function of how the walkaround is coded. I seem to recall that on previous A2A aircraft, one could leave these open, so hopefully A2A will allow this (and model the associated consequences) on a future update of the Comanche.
      I did subsequently figure out that “USD” must mean used haha. Cheers and all the best! : )
