I just bought an Amazon Fire HD Kids Tablet for my Grandson for Christmas and your video on Parental Controls was really, really helpful!!! Also, I watch a lot of "How To & Tech CZcams Videos" and in comparison to others, the quality, content, and explanations/demo of this video was one of the better/best I've watched!!!! Thanks.

The In-App Purchasing and Store Access --> Store Access prompt doesn't seem to work. I set it off (No) and my son can still access and download apps from the store? Am I missing something?
Brad, no it sounds like you got everything… to limit downloading… the only other failsafe would be to turn off the wifi on the device to disable additional downloading. Store Access should be the way it works, that way it required you to approve the download… but if that isn’t working there aren’t too many other options. Thanks for watching!
Thanks! I have in-app purchasing and store access turned "Off" but my son is still able to download a bunch of apps. Is there a way to streamline what is pushed onto him to download? I'd like to keep the educational apps front and center so they aren't forgotten about. Thanks!

Thanks for the video! I have a question about Amazon Kids+. So I canceled the subscription for my son after the one year for free was up because I felt like there was so many new games and apps and books all of the time and we had to keep on going in and deleting them. Is there a way to require parent permission for him to download any new games in the Amazon Kids+ content? It’s a pain to go in and manually add things and share them with him so I want to get the subscription again, but want there to be limitations so he doesn’t go crazy and download every game. He sees. Thanks in advance and great video!
Thanks for watching… and that is a good question. The two setting that they have to help limit downloading are listed below… You can toggle both of these setting on/off (separately) 1. Store Access (this seems like the closest option) Allow access to a selection of free and paid content, including apps, books, and games, intended for kids. You'll get notified and need to approve when your child makes a download request. This applies to Tablet and Kindle. 2. In-App Purchasing In-App Purchasing only applies to Fire tablets. Every in-app purchase, except free items, requires your Amazon password.
Great helpful video. Exactly what I was looking for. Just bought one of these for my daughters Christmas gift. She's 2.5. App recommendations for that age??

Fantastic video. I have a question for kids who can’t read is there an option to have books read to the kids like with Alexa instead of them just watching videos?
I don’t have experience with any reading function that works across multiple apps on this tablet but they do have an AudioBooks app that has children’s stories available. It’s a free app in the store but you will have to approve the download, and of course the number of stories are limited. Thanks for watching!

Hey Detrone, I got a new question for you. Is there a way to purge your buying data after buying some apps? To explain... when you go to buy something it forces you to save your bank card data or you can't buy anything. And that basically means vulnerability, exposure. I'd like to know how to purge the bank data on the tablet after getting only the apps I need, but not lose other apps and not have to delete everything on the tablet. And it'd be helpful to know how to do this in addition to being able to turn on or off app store buying. I believe the parental control will only link up to the account you have the device/devices registered under. The best way to know would be to download the apps, then turn your wifi off at home and test them. That should give you a good idea of which apps have “offline” capabilities. That could take a while if you want to check ever app (depending on how many they have downloaded) but it’s probably the best way to test.
@@DetroneDoesIt oh! that's cool! Hey thank you so much. You replied to me more than once. you are a good guy. And I'm glad there are other ppl out there that care about child safety and good parenting like yourself. Salutes.
I have not found a way to screen lock particular apps on this tablet. I could definitely see how that could be helpful. You can only lock it on particular profiles, so if you have separate profiles on the tablet for you/your child (or an older and younger child that share a device) there is a way to enable a parental control lock 👇🏽 To restrict access on another profile: - Swipe down twice from the top of the screen to show Quick Settings. - Tap the Settings icon. - Tap Parental Controls. - Toggle the switch to On. - Enter and confirm your password. Make sure that you record your password. Note: Your parental controls password is different from your lock screen password. Tap Finish. A lock icon appears at the top of the screen when parental controls are enabled.
I know a lot of people that have gotten into serious trouble with their kids accidentally buying mountains of apps without the parents realizing it. Then they went to go pay their mortage... and insufficient funds occurred. Then they found out what happened.
Yeah that can be tough, but if you use the tools in conjunction with a regular routine of checking out the Amazon Parent Dashboard, you should hopefully recognize it before it gets that high… I hope 🤞🏽😳.
How do you clear recents? I cant find the answer anywhere. My daughter for some reason loves to watch scary videos on the youtube app. I remove from device but it stays front and center in the recents so all she does is re download the app. I am over this tablet already

Unfortunately I haven’t needed to download video from CZcams yet, so I haven’t explorer how to do this yet. Sorry… but if i figure it out, I’ll drop it here.
One workaround that you can do is: Log into the Adult profile that you have set up -> open the internet browser -> go to CZcams -> sign in then download them there. They won’t have access to it on the kid profile but they will have access on the adult profile. The can watch the downloaded videos on the adult profile and since it’s offline, they won’t be able to access the stuff typically restricted by the kid profile.
It’s unfortunate that it hasn’t worked well for you… I’ve had mostly positive experiences with each of the download approvals showing up in my email shortly after selecting them. Thanks for watching!
@@Cnikkimills Thanks. I bought a couple of Sennheiser 350BT and was able to connect them to my kids tablets. At first it kept dropping BT (disabling) after switching to kids profile. Rebooted and it was stable after that. Only problem is that some apps won't work on the headphone such as Messenger Kids, I don't know why. When this happens not even enabling/disabling BT will reconnect the headset. Normally it requires another reboot to reconnect it. Kinda annoying but my kids are happy with this set up now.

I hope that helps…
Attempted to set this up, I was able to set up calling for everyone but one person. When I added the contact it showed up on the child call app, however when contact called it showed up as unknown. Can’t figure out why. It’s not unknown when the same person calls others through Alexa. Trying to fix this caused my Amazon two step verification (OTP) to time out for 24 hours….
I’m sorry to hear that… I have seen a few comments that have referred to issues with setting up calling on these devices. Unfortunately I won’t be much help in this area, I have not set up a calling functionality yet for my kiddos… I hope you are able to get it to work properly.
Under the setting menu, there is a section for “Web Browser” and in there you’ll find the best tools on the device for limiting the content they see… It’s doesn’t catch everyone but it’s pretty useful. I listed the option they give you below… -Enable Web Access -Allow Cookies Some websites may not render content correctly if cookies are disabled. -Hand-selected Websites & Videos A selection of age-appropriate websites and web videos specifically chosen for their kid-friendly, educational and entertainment content. -Enable Pre-Approved Web Content Enable access to hand-curated age-appropriate Websites and Web Videos. -Filtered Websites & Videos An open, but filtered, browsing experience that lets kids explore the web with built-in controls that help filter out inappropriate content, and tools for parents to block specific websites.
They will send you an email to the email address you have registered with your Amazon account. You click the link there and you can approve it or you can go to Parents.Amazon.Com to access the parent dashboard.
I'm trying to activate the homer app and I have the in app purchasing selected on and it still won't let me make a purchase. My password does not come up in order to purchase it and I've removed and installed this app several times. Any help???
Unfortunately I do not have a 100% answer for you.. I did just search and download The Homer Reading app and it says that it does require “Permissions” access so first you want to make sure that is turned on. You’ll know because it will say “permissions’ with a check mark on the bottom left of the download screen (which may be impacted by whether you have “store access” turned on (its in the same section as In App Purchase Request”)… and lastly Have you checked the email that you have attached to the account to see if Amazon sent you an Approval Request for it? I wish I had a better anwser for you!
Do you already have your age settings on the device set to an appropriate age? Below are the major settings that should help you with this… but if you’ve already messed with these setting then the only option to ensure your child does get that adult content is to disable the web browser. - Enable Web Access (On or Off) - Allow Cookies (On or Off) - Hand-selected Websites & Videos A selection of age-appropriate websites and web videos specifically chosen for their kid-friendly, educational and entertainment content. - Enable Pre-Approved Web Content Enable access to hand-curated age-appropriate Websites and Web Videos. - Filtered Websites & Videos An open, but filtered, browsing experience that lets kids explore the web with built-in controls that help filter out inappropriate content, and tools for parents to block specific websites.

I’m having issues utilizing the CZcams app on mine. How did you parent control your CZcams experience with this tablet?
Under the setting menu, there is a section for “Web Browser” and in there you’ll find the best tools on the device for limiting the content they see… It’s doesn’t catch everyone but it’s pretty useful. I listed the option they give you below…
-Enable Web Access
-Allow Cookies
Some websites may not render content correctly if cookies are disabled.
-Hand-selected Websites & Videos
A selection of age-appropriate websites and web videos specifically chosen for their kid-friendly, educational and entertainment content.
-Enable Pre-Approved Web Content
Enable access to hand-curated age-appropriate Websites and Web Videos.
-Filtered Websites & Videos
An open, but filtered, browsing experience that lets kids explore the web with built-in controls that help filter out inappropriate content, and tools for parents to block specific websites.
How do I put a passcode so my child doesn't switch to the adult profile
You have to go into the adult profile, swipe down the top screen and go into setting to apply passcodes to the adult profile.
How do I approve they apps they request
They will send you an email to the email address you have registered with your Amazon account. You click the link there and you can approve it or you can go to Parents.Amazon.Com to access the parent dashboard.
@@DetroneDoesIt Thanks for responding I figured it out
I'm trying to activate the homer app and I have the in app purchasing selected on and it still won't let me make a purchase.
HOW DO I BLOCK RYANS WORLD?
Trying to block it on the web browser or somewhere else on the device?
I caught my kid watching adult content on You-Tube! Please how do I restrict access to these awful channels! Help.
Do you already have your age settings on the device set to an appropriate age? Below are the major settings that should help you with this… but if you’ve already messed with these setting then the only option to ensure your child does get that adult content is to disable the web browser.
- Enable Web Access (On or Off)
- Allow Cookies (On or Off)
- Hand-selected Websites & Videos
A selection of age-appropriate websites and web videos specifically chosen for their kid-friendly, educational and entertainment content.
- Enable Pre-Approved Web Content
Enable access to hand-curated age-appropriate Websites and Web Videos.
- Filtered Websites & Videos
