- Just a few kilometers away from Bengaluru, farmers are paying the price for a development project by the Bengaluru Development authority (BDA). The notification to develop Shivaram Karanth Layout was first issued in 2008. Over 3000 acres of land is being acquired in 17 villages by the BDA. Will the villagers get their fair share of compensation? and more importantly, how necessary is this project for the growth of Bengaluru? Deccan Herald brings you the ground report.

This news should come more in media. Even media has neglected this news earlier when the farmers were protesting..
Guess media is afraid of BJP "Vishwanath" is also the bda chairman and has never spoken anything about it at all.... And there is no transparency in anything at all.... Such a pity on farmer's and land owners since there is also no fair compensation given..... ☹️

@@prajwalba3065 bro there are courts and competent authority for valuation or go for 40 percent of layout which is law in BDA land is notification came during congress rule in 2017 even after 2023 it's still not completed

There will be Tata, Birla, Ambani, Adani premium apartments will come where MLAs and MPs will have 10-10 apartments.
In my opinion, all these issues would have been resolved if bbmp had started approving a higher floor rate index rate from 2.25 to a much higher number. It would’ve reduced the demand because of sumptuous supply of houses inside the city.

If the BDA does not acquire these lands and make plots, these farmers will sell it to land developers and make sites with nature roads without facility and sell, this is what is happening around Bangalore, but the BDA should have very good compensation to the land owners

BDA has never been transparent about the compensation it would be understandable if you went through it . This has been such an undercover in the media all this is because of politics

The reporting is good but the legal aspect of the acquisition is not explained properly I think. What land was that were the farmers rightful owners of that land or just were using govt. land for agriculture for so many years? The woman says the property was from her ancestors. When Raja Kaluve issue emerged in Bangalore then we heard BDA games, and also it says BDA is not a govt body on first hand. On what grounds acquisition happening? they bring amendments in the name of development and people remain struggling in their life and thinking that they have property and security. Does DC have the detailed archive of the story in or link of that ?

Instead of making this as an documentary, you guys working in media put these things on your main channel bring up discussions, ask for perfections and bring stay to project !! Agriculture is the backbone of our country and if we keep on acquiring cultivated land what people need to eat
This all a part of politics and the dirty tricks played by a very well known person in this area he has gone to such an extent that he had people arrested when they protested against it

They haven't issued anything how can they acquire land that is not even given by consent they have acquired land against the land owners and they haven't given us in writing about the compensation that the land owners would get and many places that have been already acquired by bda the land owners haven't received anything in over about 18 years
Govt authorities doesn't have any guidelines for example BWSSB puts occupancy certificate cess of double the amount of water consumption in it's bill which is not even related to it where as occupancy certificate is the prerogative of BBMP and issuance of occupancy certificate is very difficult for small houses and BWSSB has charges differently for old consumers and new consumers which not seen anywhere in the world, loot is going on and even educated people of Bangalore are ignorant of this loot.

Yeah sure this is just a one sided view point of like 100's of people who have suffered over 10 years to gain the media's attention about this not saying that is bda's viewpoint shouldn't be shared but it's purely corrupted. This has been going on for so many years people putting up all their resources to get the justice they need. BDA has acquired so many areas and none of them haven't gotten their share or the compensation they were promised.

If people don’t give land to government then how can government develop city ? This farmers will sell land to landlord later and will make crores, that landlords will construct illegally and lead to overpopulation and small roads, BDA sites are very good and organised layout

Nobody is farming in these lands (throughout the video there was hardly any real crop shown). Landowners are very rich and would like to develop their own layouts with small roads, no parks, no central planning. Centralized development from BDA should be encouraged for common good.
Even with BDA acquisition, these farmers get 40% of developed land whose value is more than 6 crores/acre.
These people are complaining only because they are now getting 6 crores per acre instead of 10 crores if they were allowed to plan their own congested layouts.
Please do your research instead of publishing such reports with false narrative that can obstruct development work.

Where is the compensation for that loss ? If that poor lady had a 12 crore worth land why is she living like a poor lady with a poor mud house ? Don't you think there is a story other than BDA's where BDA aquires land for half the market value with no permission to sell from farmers? Where is their land rights and democrasy.?

The farmers must join together and create a group and then file a lawsuit in supreme court and stop it now or they will put fence and nothing can be done. Its now or never. If farmers have patta land they can do nothing.
