    Johnnie, you need to start releasing a documentary filmmaking masterclass. The composition, editing and directing is so amazing that I just forget about the camera. Can I ask, what are your techniques for interviewing subjects? And how do you find your subjects?

    Beautiful video. Thanks for your share. Also enjoyed the overview of the fp L. I am new to this camera has it for just 1 week, so I am just finding your old videos, but they’re still relevant to me. I like this camera a lot, it is my favourite camera of all time, and I am old.

    Loved the mini-documentary! I was so immersed in the story that I completely forgot that it was part of a camera review. Thanks for the outstanding work!
    One note about the point raised about the EVF cutting off the flow of HDMI when it is attached to the camera body. My thoughts are that if we're wiring an external recorder to the camera, will we even require the use of an EVF? Seems to me that the recorder can provide all the display one needs and then some - it's even tiltable.

    Found out from B&H page that there's no 4k60...not even in crop mode or 8bit...Also, no demo of the PDAF.
    4k RAW out to SSD is amazing but just like with Fp, it'll be line skipped :(
    I love the mini-documentary as always :)

    • @SamEmilio2
      @SamEmilio2 Před 3 lety

      Unfortunately on the video side of things, it was already a given that 4k would be line skipped - there's no processor in existence right now that could oversample 60mp footage in that body, especially while keeping any semblance of battery life.

    • @ivanrzhanoy9389
      @ivanrzhanoy9389 Před 3 lety

      What about 8K sensor area output to 4K. Do you know if it does line skipping as well or merges 4 pixels into 1?

    • @SamEmilio2
      @SamEmilio2 Před 3 lety +1

      @@ivanrzhanoy9389 You know, I was just watching Gerald Undone's video and it turns out I was wrong, which is great! In CDNG specifically, it oversamples. In his video, though, he goes more into why there's quite a few gotchas on the video side though..

    • @fellowcitizen
      @fellowcitizen Před 3 lety

      All the current hi-res sensors line-skip or crop, but I don't think the original fp would need to line skip except in some modes - where is that info?

    • @SamEmilio2
      @SamEmilio2 Před 3 lety

      @@fellowcitizen The R5 and A1 have oversampled 4k options, so it isn't the case anymore that as a rule the hi res sensors do line skipping. As for the original fp, it seems anecdotally that it oversamples its 4k image - which would place it in line with other cameras that use the IMX410 sensor

    Looks great so far, fixes the main concerns with the original - clipping highlights/dynamic range limitations, and what often felt like moire. Despite being a 60mp sensor, what I'm seeing here looks very smooth and free of artifacts. The original is great, but almost seemed too crisp, due to the lack of AA filter, at times it looked like it had sizzling/aliasing edges.

    • @Lensvoodoo
      @Lensvoodoo Před 3 lety

      @@alexcorll90 How can that be? 8-bits gives you 256 colors because 28=256. You can't interpolate proper flesh tones, and you can't make accurate green that isn't recorded can you? Maybe our goals are different. I mean no disrespect to you but 256 colors are not good enough for professional work where I live. "easiest way" is useful in a hurry, but not what the client expects, nor what I stand behind in delivery, nor should you. How is the rolling shutter and image quality at 1080p 60fps full frame (without crop)? That’s the only video format I shoot in and my current Nikon d750 does great at it and am looking at the sigma fp L to be my second video camera + landscape camera.
    If it’s doing line skipping like d750 does then it might be able to achieve very good rolling shutter performance (I would be mildly worried about image quality, but d750 produces amazing videos even with line skipping but it has fewer lines to skip since it’s 24mp)
