I have a Tesoro Super Lobo, A Tesoro De Leon, Tesoro Sea Shark PI, They are all great machiness,The more you use them the better you get at Finding stuff. That looks to me to be in the Santa Rita Mountains, I have found my share of small gold up there. don't give up Nice video Thanks for sharing.
This particular model is from 1997. It will perform just as well as many modern detectors and even better in some situations like discrimination and unmasking targets. Recovery speed is easily as quick as any modern machine. No, they don't hit as deep as some new detectors , but hitting coins at 8-9" is decent. I have a nokta legend and a tesoro silver sabre, which is from 1986, and it's a cracking detector.
Myself I would have to take a bunch of samples from the different spots where they were mining and run them through a sluice to see if there was any fine gold and don't forget to mark where they come from for sure, wish ya luck! Vlf's work well once you get them up for the area!
So you have to turn it on in discrimination mode then swith to all metal and adjust the threshold as low as you can. Then you have to ground balance by moving up and down near the ground If its real mineralized just move the sensitivity down 1 at a time till it ground balances. If its still wount balance might try the black sand or alkali settings. These are per tesoro instructions from what i understood. Goodluck
My TLS found a BB 9" deep one time. Another time I found a tire rim that was about 24" deep. They definitely find stuff, I only wish they would add a circuit like other detectors have that give an idea of what your target is. There's a ton of stuff laying around that will give a good signal, and digging hole after hole after hole gets old after a while.
I wish it had target id also. I will be getting another detector soon but will still keep the super traq. It is a great detector. Probably will get the garrett gold master 24k.
You need to find bed rock when using a vlf machine for small gold, avoid the over burden because all the majority of larger gold has been found not all but alot of it, but your best luck is on exsposed bed rock mr i would placcer a spot in that dry creek and thoroughly search the crap out of it.

Enjoyed the adventure, thanks!
Just a heads up, metal detectotor technology has advanced dramatically since the 70s.
Lol very true. I will be upgrading soon.

I had one of those machines not great on tiny gold but they love silver best coin dector I've had
I have to make that coil ,I love the shape of them. I bet the great for pin pointing Targets.
Next investment would be a garret carrot
Beautiful area, great looking footage, keep at it.Old timers must of left something behind for ya.
what a place to hunt for treasure. get those dectors works like water devine rods.
Bring a big magnet with you to make your searching faster
Which is a pinpointer btw
Definitely not my cup of tea! PNW, WA, rain. Green, trees, wildlife.😊
Also metal detector shovel wouldn’t be a bad idea either
that metal detector is pretty bad for this job
And why is that? Have you ever owned one?
