In 1926 the Visp-Zermatt Bahn, later the Brig-Visp-Zermatt Bahn, Furka Oberalp Bahn and the Rhätische Bahn created a direct connection between Wallis and Graubünden. Now was the time for a luxury train between Zermatt and St. Moritz. The “Glacier Express” became reality. Today, many tens of thousands from across the world make the journey annually-prof, if proof were needed, that the “Glacier Express” had grown into 'Perhaps the most ultimate train journey in the world.

v.beautiful ; anyone visiting India with a taste for adventure should travel from Srinagar to Leh or Manali to Leh or the zozilla pass in the Himalayas , this journey is not for the weak , but nerve-wracking & thrilling.Then there is also journey to Lahaul & Spiti from Shimla again in the Himalayas ; Lahaul & Spiti r very isolated areas & snow bound in winter.
