    My WHY for this year is because I want my evenings free. I don’t want to be cleaning, decluttering, deep cleaning, tidying into the nighttime/evenings hours when I could be with family or friends or resting. This means I need to get rid of stuff that keeps me from enjoying evening life. If I’m doing laundry all day and then folding and putting away at night, I’m tired and keep putting it off. So I need less laundry. If I’m cooking all day and dishes are spreading into the evening, I need less dishes.

    I still live with parents and it’s a big deal to tolerate their mess. Luckily, they got inspired by my example of decluttering. And they decluttered some things themselves and allowed me to declutter expired/broken things around the house. And I also organised many places into containers, so things don’t bother me much

      That's such an inspiration! Living with my daughter and husband who are also not minimalist it really is about living out what you preach. I have found especially with my husband though he wont declutter his tools he is very complementary of our minimalist house and he tries hard to keep our living spaces clear as well. Now when we go to other people's houses that are cluttered he notices and has told me how grateful he is to live in a decluttered space. 💗 Thanks so much for sharing!!

    Something that works well for me. Is I don’t have/use a junk drawer and I find it a waste of a drawer and just much too large of a space for things to collect.
    I use a plant pot I got for 3$ and the dollar store I want to say it’s like 6 inch pot. It’s my catch all place I have it on the top shelf of my pantry like closet. I can pull it out and find miscellaneous things, And it can only get so full you can’t over load it. So I find myself going through it and letting go of things I haven’t used when it means I need a place to put something new I get use of, but need to store. ❤

    I feel like since the past events, I had to recognize and come to terms with that overspending and clutter being caused by a scarcity mindset.

    • @minimalease
      @minimalease  Před 7 měsíci +3

      Same! I’d see a sale on something and suddenly I had to buy it whether I needed it or not. But coming to terms with that has stopped me from buying so many things I didn’t need ❤️

    Excellent video! Hoarding or storing up things is 100% fear-based, and often inherited behavior, as you mentioned. Letting go can be tough, but life changing and very empowering.

      Thanks so much ❤️ and it’s very true once your find the root of why you are storing up items often it’s not because of necessity whether you have a lot of money or not keeping things that aren’t serving you will weigh you down physically and emotionally ❤️ thanks for sharing

    Those "minor traumas" you describe are not traumas, they are called "critical life events". It's important to not confuse them, but your point still stands :)

    The money was gone when you purchased the item, not when you declutter it.

    When you mentioned the 30 day decluttering challenge I was inspired. I got a trash bag and donation boxes and started getting rid of stuff. It's the 5th today but I'm up to day 10 already. I think I may do it every month until a whole lot of junk leaves my home.🤗

    I decided to start my decluttering journey about 2 months ago due to anxiety. (I never had a bunch of things to begin with) I find myself getting frustrated because everything I've decluttered so far, my partner finds a way to clutter with more of her things. I'm hoping that in the future she can see the benefits of decluttering from seeing me. But her bringing more and more things makes me fear that I'm going to live in a cluttered space due to everything she has and continues to bring in.

      When I got serious about decluttering and being conscious of my spending habits my husband did get more on board. We’ve had lots of conversations about how clutter can effect my mood and can make me feel overwhelmed. I wish you all the best and keep reaching out and talking to your partner I’ve found with more conversation comes more understanding ❤️ I wish you the best!

    Thanks for this video ! See, funny enough, I had a pandemic burn out because like everybody else I had lost all my marks (adding a divorce 2 weeks before the first lockdown didn’t help either !). I have struggled for 2 years to go back to my old self before we finally found what was wrong… I have Adhd and the loss of the structure I had in my life was a nightmare. I’m now on medication and therapy and finally doing much better ! So much better that I now want to have people over, so while I consider myself a minimalist and have decluterred so much over the years, I have now bought a buffet and will soon buy glasses and plates 😉 and to me that’s the beauty of minimalism, letting go of what you don’t want or need to make space for what you do want !
    Another part the video that talked to me. My 12yr old couldn't find her watch this morning and my 8yr old her gloves… time to declutter and organize some shelves ! (my oldest had her watch around her wrist but minimalism doesn't help with with teen brains 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

    Yes, selling everything I can is overwhelming. You have to store it until it sells, and you have to deal with hagglers. I now only sell expensive items I can make like $80 or more on. I’m struggling with only having sentimental items left. When I do to purge, it’s sooo hard now than when I first began minimizing.

    I'm stuck coz my boyfriend was moving out but now he's very unwell in hospital. So I am not able to get rid of his stuff because he's unwell. My cupboards are full of his stuff and I still have bags and boxes of stuff and two wheelchairs at mine. But there's nothing I can do about it right now coz him getting treatment is more of a priority.

    • @minimalease
      @minimalease  Před 6 měsíci +1

      It sounds like you are going through a lot right now 💗If it makes you feel better maybe pack up his stuff and designate it to one area so its not always in your living space. I hope you are both doing well

    Do kids need less toys when they go to nursery or school vs when they weren't going?

    • @minimalease
      @minimalease  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Just from my experience, my daughter's amount of toys varies. She is allowed to keep what she wants but I have given her some drawers and shelves to keep them on so that helps us keep them under control and makes it easier for her to put away. My daughter has an amazing imagination and I find her favorite things to be craft supplies and cardboard boxes right now hahah
