Timeless classic u will never hear music like this again I am happy and honored to have been part of it growing up in 60s and 70s great times I am last man standing my family and friends from those times have all passed I guess good keeps me around for some reason peace and love to u all
We were in Richard's Dad's 1957 Chevy station wagon, (ditching school) and I asked her, "Have you heard the new song California Dreaming? Who does that song?" And Cherilyn say's, "I don't know, but I sure like the sound."
The bathtubs were a visual reference to the cover art of their debut album "If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears." They worked very hard to be able to replicate their complicated recorded sound live without the aid of backup singers and for the most part succeeded. Their first three albums were nothing short of brilliant but success proved a rough road for all four of them emotionally.
This originally aired in color on March 14, 1966 (only a black and white kinescope exists); they sang live to the original music track used on the recording, because they couldn't recreate their recorded "sound" before a live audience [same situation when they also performed on "THE HOLLYWOOD PALACE" and "THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW"].
I cannot agree with you more! there will never be another decade like the 60's. So much went on yet there was something in the air, peace and open spaces! Kids played as kids and stayed as kids for a long long time!
@Aloofbear I totally agree with you guys. The 60s and 70s can never be recaptured again. Being a kid in the 60s and a teen in the 70s were great. We had to make our own fun. Hide and seek, Kickball, Batmitten etc.. No video games or computers. I'm not knocking them, I love CZcams. Lol. But we had to use our imaginations and that was PRICELESS. Thanks for posting.
I was 8 years old when this song came out....my Mother could dance just like the girl at 2:20, I look back on that now and realize just how radical my Mother was for that time.
I well recall watching "Hullabaloo," as a very young kid and loved seeing the "Go-Go" dancers interact with the "headline" performer(s). I don't recall seeing this particular episode (though I most likely had) but, I can say that I absolutely loved the "Mamas and the Papas," but most especially loved the incredibly beautiful voice of Cass Elliot. I was 17 when I graduated from high school in 1974 - and just a month later, Cass died (in London) at age 32 (after a very successful solo concert run at the famous London Palladium). It was such a gut-punch for me - and in some ways still is. As I was watching this wonderful video clip (which seemed to suddenly appear on my "list" of CZcams "suggestions") I suddenly realized, that today, is July 29, 2022 - the very month/day Cass died in 1974. RIP dear.

One of the greatest songs of all time.
Michelle Phillips was absolutely stunning back then.
This era had the greatest music !
This is one of those songs that gives me goosebumps when I hear it.
Like Dennis Hopper once said in a movie,"The 90's will make the 60's look like the 50's".
great times,great people!
I LOVE that Denny, during the interlude, walks away to look at the dacers more closley. I laughed so hard. I love him so much!
Wishing a happy 45th anniversary to "Hullabaloo" which premiered on this day, January 12th, 1965.
I love how Mama Cass and Michell dance... so simple, but so cool. :)

Two beautiful young women, and a couple of goofy looking guys.
