Your time in Germany has gone by so quickly but you've definitely made the most of it and had impacted so many people in the most positive way. I'm definitely a better person for knowing you. You're gonna kill it in the States! Give it your all, best wishes to you. So sad that you're leaving but your wings are too bright to stay. You have so much more to offer on your next adventure. This is not the end. Take care and we'll see each other again soon 👊

Of course I gave this vid a thumb up, although it was a not obviously. cause the fact, that you're leaving I doesn't like. But I know it's the right thing you do for yourself and not doing it would you make feel sorry for the rest of your life. You're not only having goals but you follow them and you work hard to reach them and that's making it more easy to let you go. My dear friend, thank you for sharing all the exciting adventures you had, thanks for all the thoughts and new perspectives you gave us. And thanks for being like you are. And for sure it's not good bye, it's a "see you soon". You know that there are people in germany who will welcome you back, whenever you want. I wish you all the best for the new chapter of your life and all my blessings will be with you. You can be very proud! thanks for everything, my friend! take care 🙂

I hear you brother. I'm surprised and not surprised. I dislike repeating this, but as someone who lived abroad for 25 years in 5 different countries I really hear what you're saying. Whatever you do, where ever you go I feel quite confident that your path is very very bright and that you'll do great. I was so happy to be able to spend a few good years with my dad here in Michigan before he passed away in 2017. Life is change whether we like it or not. Keep your head up as I feel you've done most if not all of your life. Your future can be what you want it to be.

I’m so sad to hear this. It’s been so nice to see you explore Germany. I’m surprised you didn’t go to school here since it’s cheaper and your level of fluency in the German language, but I have heard that the job situation for expats can be challenging.; I think that is why Soldier for Life, the other American in Germany left. Congratulations on your new adventures!!

Note: there is a fair number of Americans in Germany, see for example the channels "Passport Two", "My Merry Messy Life", "Our Story to Tell", NALF, "Black Forest Family", "Hi from Hamburg" (currently leaving Germany, as well), and "bigfun ... American in Germany". Although most of them are actually families, only NALF and "Hi from Hamburg" are, as far as I remember, a "single" American.

Thank *YOU* for having been here. You were a fascinating, insightful, honest, open observer with massive language skills to boot.
I am certain you will remain so. Hope to see you again.
What I don't get is why you are going to the States for your next master's degree?
Isn't that going to be hellishly expensive? Couldn't you enter a German university and save a LOT of money here?

Was punched by a racist nurse for no reason in the head in Hamburg and the police stood on her side. Also passive aggressiveness is very prevalent. It was honestly shocking to see so many supermarket clerks all of a sudden changing their attitudes to White German customers. Not recommended to coloured expats.

good for you. you are a young man, you are not stuck when you are young. I sold everything i had and packed up the rest when i was 35, moved to the US, and i am doing something completely different from my actual degree. speaking several languages has given me key opportunities, so learn another one if you can ;) . I did find that it is easier here to get a job that you have no particular training in, as long as you can actually do the work. Germany is more focused on the certificates as a requirement of even getting the job. At the same time, you are less likely to find yourself in a situation where you have decades of experience in a particular field, and no formal training, making it difficult to find another job in a similar field. especially if you expect to make north of 100k.

    Oh, that was sad.
It is true: Germany - as many countries - has a 'glass-roof' of how far a foreigner can rise in society, it is not encouraged to talk about, because it crushes the illusion of equal chances, and in the individual it crushes hopes and rises frustrations, but this glass-roof is there: if you're willing to stay below, ok, but if you strive for social improvement, you get stuck.
And one should never stop trying to improve. You learn your whole life and try to improve your knowledge and your skills. Learning never stops: the more you learn the more you find out, you still need to learn. - And the nicest thing of all: the world is round and has so many places to see and try to expolore the potentials it might hold for you. - All the luck and best wishes for your future
