I think they should incorporate a talent show every episode of drag race as the maxi challenge so that the queens can showcase all their talents. This is amazing. Sucks it wasn't really on the show...
problem is that they can't use copyrighted music that is not their own on the show... so they are limited in their craft, which is often to lipsynch and mix other artists' work
@Slay The Dragon Blog How do you figure? IF a performer can use any audio they wanted, I'm sure there would be more performances similar to Kandy Ho's Robotika. The freedom to choose material that compliments your style of performance, or even, to show a talent in constructing a performance, could make a huge difference.

Okay this is why I thibk Drag Race is missing some stuff...
idk let me try to explain. Let's be honest here, when I go to a club to see a queen, I go to watch her TURN IT TF OUT and slay me til I'm deceased. Sure, I love seeing the campy queens do a stand up and whatnot, but I LIVE for lip syncs and choreo like this. We all love drag for different seasons, which is why I don't agree with most of the challeges being comedy/acting, because just like most campy queens can't pull this choreo and lip sync off, the club queens are not used to acting in front of cameras either... Get what I mean? It's a tad unfair that people say that because you didn't survive Drag Race, you are not "worthy", but you can't ask a cat to bark(not good with analogies).
Drag race wants reality stars. Kandy, Trinity and Coco can slay a lip sync to the grave and back 3 times over but their personalities aren't the biggest and aren't really out there. Drag race wants people to leave the clubs and become big stars in movies like what Bianca's doing. And kandy did turn it out in glamazonian airways. The show always favours funny queens and i don't think it will ever not. funny queens like katya and alska are more memorable and the fans always like them more
Acting comedy is easiest to cut/paste in editing and also works for the production budget. You cant have a dance performance at this level when it takes week to prepare, and challenges on a show are 1-3 days long. I'm disappointed that even at top 3 final show they don't make contestants work harder, and the venue really is up to the task.
Well, y'all wanted greater emphasis on lip syncs and theatrics and you got it in spades during the Season 9 Finale! The thing is: RuPaul's Drag Race is a balancing act. They are trying to feature multiple styles of drag: pageant, club, female impersonation, camp, comedy, etc. If the entire show changed to highlight girls like Kandy Ho, it would only put incredible queens like Bianca Del Rio and Jinkx in the shadows.
This makes me question drag race. This is the most talented thing I've seen from a queen and yet Kandy Ho is considered one of the worst queens of the franchise. Their talent isn't being properly displayed

As a hip hop dancer, that's really an amazing piece of high energy choreography, like that is a girl who can dance not just feel the music (not that there is anything wrong with that either). I know ChiChi, Shangela and Kennedy have the big reps for being the "dancing" queens, but THIS is some next level shit. This looked like and was the same standard if not better then some of the Hiphop crews you see competing at Hip Hop Internationals in terms of varying choreography, difficulty, execution and musicality. And the Slow melts where she just slows down and sizzles in the moment are EVERYTHING! And while I love me some Of those other amazing girls, it's damn refreshing to see a girl do complicated chorey and not just a rehashing of the same 8 counts with variations. And yes I've seen Alyssa and Shangelas pageant numbers but they just don't compare to this.
