    Hi Josje, Hope you are feeling a little better each day. We can hear it in your voice. An exploration of and description of items in your Canal House is always a treat. I would appreciate a tutorial on making tulips! Spring is on the horizon! Regards and thanks Janine

      Thank you, I'm getting better! It seems like spring is here already. It's pretty warm for February, around 10C and many of my daffodils are about to burst into flower. Normally February is the coldest month of the year. I will do a tutorial on the tulips, but maybe I should wait until the real ones are in flower. 😃

    Just mesmerized by your beautiful things. There's an old saying in the UK, that when someone is getting married it's called 'Tying the Knot' I bet that the Knot Chest is where that comes from! Thank you for your video. I'm visiting Minuatura at Stoneleigh next month, my first miniature event. I hopefully will see some beautiful things there in person😊

    • @MakeMiniatures
      @MakeMiniatures  Před 6 měsíci

      Yes! I never thought of that! This tradition must have the same roots as the knot box. I'll have to look into that. Thank you!
      Have fun at the fair in Stoneleigh next month! I have never been there but it's pretty big isn't it? 😃

    Your dolls houses and all they contain are just magical!! I could spend hours looking at each little piece!! ... well, I WISH I could spend hours looking at each little piece: it's the kind of thing one dreams of! All the pieces are stunning, but it's also so fascinating learning the history behind each one and the artists who created them. I'd be happy to watch more such videos (though hopefully you will be better soon, so won't feel constrained to do so)... I'd also love to see how to make those beautiful tulips you showed at the end! thank you for a lovely video! kindest regards and best wishes for a speedy recovery, k

    Take care Josje, we can wait! Love how the light comes into the window of the canal house, it truly makes it life-like as it bounces off the floor and shiny objects😊. Interesting to learn about the ‘knottekistje’, quaint! Also interesting to see the mechanism of the tea-table, will have a go at making one, albeit a very simple one without carving.

    • @MakeMiniatures
      @MakeMiniatures  Před 6 měsíci

      Thank you Coby. Someone in the comments just mentioned 'Tying the Knot'. It may have the same roots as the knottekistje, who knows.

    Beautiful pieces. Make your extra lighting indirect. 💡 💡 Bounce it off a piece of white poster board. Serves two purposes, softens the light and gives less reflections of objects.

    Thanks for showing the table up close! I’ve made one but have always been a bit disappointed with the rather thin top and as I noticed that in your table the grain underneath is at a right angle to the top, I now know what I should do to remedy the slight warping! It does mean I have take it off to double up the table top, or replace it altogether with a better made one, thankfully it’s only attached with a brass rod.. would also love a tutorial on the parrot tulips..
    Also love your silver collection and all the pottery! Hope you feel better soon!

    • @MakeMiniatures
      @MakeMiniatures  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Thank you Idske. Yes, glueing a second piece of wood with the grain running at a 90-degree angle to the first will certainly help to keep it from warping. I did that for a large table I made (the table in the blue roombox with the sliding doors, Miniaturist Journal 73) because the first tabletop I made for it did warp. Unless you have nice marquetry or a raised edge or something like that on your current tabletop, I would just make a new one for it.
      Okay, I'll work on a Parrot tulip tutorial! 😃

I hope delving back into your old passion is giving you some relief and escape. It's so much fun and there's so much to discover. Thank you very much Laurence! 😃
