Jann is absolutely imperfect. Better than Blanka by several miles, but still nowhere near the level of some acts this year (Alika, Marco, Blanca Paloma) But his song is also unique I mean look at literally everyone's favorite this year, his vocals are definitely on the same level if not worse than Janns, yet he got a second place so strong it looked like first place was almost forced
The thing is Janns voice cracks are a stylistic choice, even if it’s not to everyone’s taste. Blanka is literally just out of tune and out of breath the whole time. Janns song also requires a much bigger vocal range, so while he wasn’t perfect he clearly did way better.

Yes, but he still needs to work on his breathing technique. Other performers are dancing as well, but they don't get out of breath that easily while singing. And his vocals weren't only bad when he was dancing, they weren't that great either when he was just walking or standing. But the staging itself wasn't that optimal either, he was succumbed by that stage, if felt empty. Maybe more items, maybe dancers, or maybe not moving around that much. Everything should have evolved around a small portion of the stage, plus maybe they could have put something on the LED wall, I don't know, but this could have been fixed in Liverpool. Maybe also if everything happened on the B stage. Plus the song itself could have done well at Eurovision with a better singer, maybe with a better build up as well.

Jann's song is so hard to sing and he's moving but still sounds pretty good. I can hear some high notes out a little bit in the beginning, but it's not a big deal. Everyone does it, especially on Eurovision. And what about Blanka... Even if the notes are right, it sounds really weird. She just misses artistic feel and vocal intonations. Sounds like she just started to learn singing and trying to get the right notes.
Well, Gladiator could have worked with a better singer, and maybe with a better buildup, but that's nothing we could have changed during Eurovision. And he could have sang you'll buy it and I savor it each time in a different way, instead of singing it 7 times exactly the same, plus a better staging, etc

He might have more stage presence and charisma and is a better dancer and a better looking guy (her lips look weird, sorry), but he can't sing. I agree that it was out of tune in places, he still got most of the notes on-point and his general voice is a lot more pleasant to listen to. Gladiator’s unique and I like it for that, Solo seems to be a copy of every song on the radio mid 2010s-though, like you said, this probably appeals to a larger audience.

Blanka is not a bad singer by any means. But her song is very simple and easy to sing. Whereas Janns song has an incredible range and while it might not be everyone's cup of tea, Gladiator is much more Eurovision material than Solo.
It's a song written for Eurovision, which could easily be used for a flag parade in the Grand Final. And I read, it was written by a veteran Eurovision team as well, I think, initially for another singer, who ended up choosing another song over it (all legal, it's often the case that demos are making their way to different national finals, Melfest, MGP, etc, just look at what Azerbaijan has sent over the years). It definitely would have gone well with the Eurovision bubble, but I think that Solo would have been more popular with people outside of the bubble, because it's catchier. Gladiator is from the same category as Freya or Hammer of Thor, at least lyrically. Both of them were hyped up by the fandom, but Freya even failed to make the MGP final and Hammer Of Thor didn't do that well with the ordinary Norwegian public either. The quite opposite of Prohibition, which was hated by the fandom, but loved by the ordinary public. Yes, and there's a fear that Gladiator, as a song written for Eurovision and for the Eurovision bubble wouldn't have connected as well with the normal public, while Solo definitely did. Есди бы он поехад на Евро, у него бы было больше времени подготовиться, он бы нанял танцоров, улучшил свою дыхалку. На сцене Евро его полностью подготовленный номер выглядел бы на все 250% К слову, записи с телефонов зрителей намного лучше, чем предоставили на телевидении.

I think the audio setup and mixing was generally bad here, breaths really sound loud and it make it sound quite strange and lower quality as a whole - for both of them. However, that ending Jann did was absolutely amazing! While Blanka, she was just bland at best. True tragedy, Jann would've sounded great on the big stage (they even managed to make Blanka sound okay).

Knowing Jann emotional and creative style of singing I am pretty sure that for example the cracks in these lines were intentional: "They've all been dying for a little drama Their favorite stars getting out of coma" And you know what? And he's participating in a competition where he's getting judged and rated by others, everyone can judge him, Reiley, Mae, the Dutch couple and others and I think, if they had real friends, someone would have told them already that they can't sing.

Yes, maybe it would have been better, if he had more time to prepare, but so would have been all of the other acts. Yes, the songs from Kuba, Natasza and the other Yan were worse, I never said, Gladiator was the worst song of this selection. But far from the best, plus his vocals were among the weakest of the night. So, it wasn't enough to win the pre-selection, and it would have been a certain NQ at Eurovision. Even if his vocals would have improved. Vocally, he would have had to pull a 180, if he wanted to qualify. Blanka improved and qualified, but she was already better than him. He had to improve even more to get to Blanka's level. No one who can't sing managed to qualify. He's basically just eye candy, not a good musician.
If she didn’t cheat she would have been such a better person. In my opinion she didn’t even do bad in her performance but since she cheated I don’t like her performance. hers was better at face value, but it's very repetitive and requires almost no actual talent. i could've gone up there and done better than she did, but bombed gladiator. her voice was even, but the song required no vocal range. jann's requires both a loud voice, and incredible vocal range and talent.

Good video idea! I heard someone say that Solo was a song for people who can't sing (well). This video underlines that very well, for example through the very limited vocal range that Blanka needs to sing it. That said, it allowed her to control her voice and breathing far better than Jann could in Gladiator, which makes it that Solo is sung better than Gladiator (a bit like how the Greek entry wasn't sung well). However, even with its flaws Gladiator is an infinitely better song and an infinitely better performance than Solo ever was. There is a sense of intensity and urgency and critique that Solo doesn't have, it doesn't even try to be captivating. The fact it qualified and did well in the final bamboozled me more than some other notable results. And it also makes me think that even a good performance by Jann couldn't equal her result, sadly.
Blanka's song qualified because she had at least 2 connections within the jury, one guy was literally her choreographer. Even though it's not allowed to be in the jury when you know one of the contestants personally.

It wasn't the quality of singing that made Blanka qualify, but eighth in the televote of the Grand Final, and third in the semifinal are impressive results for a song I had as a contender for not qualifying at all. Only justified result was 24th in the jury results.

On Jann were also sound effects but not nearly as much. I think she's an average singer. While Jann is a talented singer. That being said, would Jann have gotten a better result? I love his song and would have absolutely voted for it. But chances are he would have had a similar fate as Luke Black. Absolutely loved his song it was unique but it's not a song for the masses. Solo is unfortunately a very generic summer song that blends in well enough with the background and makes probably great shopping music while Gladiator is a song that needs digesting if you know what I mean. Some people will simply not get it
I think that both are bad, but Jann is slightly worse. Plus her performance in Liverpool wasn't as bad as her NF performance, although it's quite possible that Jann could have improved as well, if they had given him lessons for vocals and breathing techniques.

I have no clue how Jann didn't win here man, his song was so much harder to sing *and* his dancing was harder ontop of it, and he still sounds great. Not perfect but it's live music, what do you expect? Meanwhile Blanca's song and dance was so much easier and yet she still managed to sound like just, mediocre. At least Jann's mistakes were at the hard bits, she screws up on the easiest parts to sing ever. There's no musicality with her too she's singing it the exact same way the entire time and it just sounds repetative. And speaking of her song it's just so much more basic and repetative than Jann's, there's no deeper like, art behind her song while Jann's actually has meaning. Bad choice, Jann should 100% be on the big stage instead of her.
realise how blanka has literally 1 song while jann has over 10 and releases more and more songs? over the past couple weeks i have observed blanka and janns spotify followers. in the beginning both of their followers got more and more. a couple days ago blanka reached her high with abt. 3.4 million spotify followers and jann has about 1.5 million followers, now you might say that blanka has way more followers (which is true) but while janns follower count continues to increase, blankas followers are decreasing rapidly (exactly what i predicted) so if she doesn’t release more songs, she will end losing a lot of her popularity. moral of the story: jann deserves the whole world and he would have done so great at eurovision but he is getting popularity nonetheless while blanka is just a boring copycat of other singers.

On a real note I think Blanca sings with too much of an accent here (which is understandable considering they speak a whole other language there) and it almost sounds cursive, she's not terrible, the song just doesn't have ✨flavor✨ like Jann's, his song is just more my personal style.
It's hard to sing while doing these moves, so it's normal for his to have trouble breathing. Still, he controls his voice very well. Jann is better than blanka (my opinion)
Many singers can sing in these positions and dance without getting breathy. Including Blanka, especially in Liverpool, where she didn't get breathy after this dance break. Secondly, he was also out of breath when he wasn't moving. Or was just walking, he also didn't hit any notes and had a lot of voice cracks, his attempt at a falsetto sounds like a cat getting castrated. Especially obvious, if you remove the music, the symphonies, which helped him do the falsetto. In the beginning, his falsetto is almost OK, but then... also, I've never heard someone taking a breath while doing a falsetto. His main issue is, that he's breathing through his mouth, although you actually don't do that while singing. You're breathing through your belly, and he needs to learn that, so that he won't get out of breath that easily. If you think, he's better than Blanka, then that's your opinion, but you need to acknowledge the fact that every expert disagrees.

The thing is Janns voice cracks are a stylistic choice, even if it’s not to everyone’s taste. Blanka is literally just out of tune and out of breath the whole time. Janns song also requires a much bigger vocal range, so while he wasn’t perfect he clearly did way better.

Yes, but he still needs to work on his breathing technique. Other performers are dancing as well, but they don't get out of breath that easily while singing. And his vocals weren't only bad when he was dancing, they weren't that great either when he was just walking or standing. But the staging itself wasn't that optimal either, he was succumbed by that stage, if felt empty. Maybe more items, maybe dancers, or maybe not moving around that much. Everything should have evolved around a small portion of the stage, plus maybe they could have put something on the LED wall, I don't know, but this could have been fixed in Liverpool. Maybe also if everything happened on the B stage. Plus the song itself could have done well at Eurovision with a better singer, maybe with a better build up as well.

Jann's song is so hard to sing and he's moving but still sounds pretty good. I can hear some high notes out a little bit in the beginning, but it's not a big deal. Everyone does it, especially on Eurovision.
And what about Blanka... Even if the notes are right, it sounds really weird. She just misses artistic feel and vocal intonations. Sounds like she just started to learn singing and trying to get the right notes.

I agree that it was out of tune in places, he still got most of the notes on-point and his general voice is a lot more pleasant to listen to. Gladiator’s unique and I like it for that, Solo seems to be a copy of every song on the radio mid 2010s-though, like you said, this probably appeals to a larger audience.

Blanka is not a bad singer by any means. But her song is very simple and easy to sing. Whereas Janns song has an incredible range and while it might not be everyone's cup of tea, Gladiator is much more Eurovision material than Solo.
It's a song written for Eurovision, which could easily be used for a flag parade in the Grand Final. And I read, it was written by a veteran Eurovision team as well, I think, initially for another singer, who ended up choosing another song over it (all legal, it's often the case that demos are making their way to different national finals, Melfest, MGP, etc, just look at what Azerbaijan has sent over the years). It definitely would have gone well with the Eurovision bubble, but I think that Solo would have been more popular with people outside of the bubble, because it's catchier. Gladiator is from the same category as Freya or Hammer of Thor, at least lyrically. Both of them were hyped up by the fandom, but Freya even failed to make the MGP final and Hammer Of Thor didn't do that well with the ordinary Norwegian public either. The quite opposite of Prohibition, which was hated by the fandom, but loved by the ordinary public. Yes, and there's a fear that Gladiator, as a song written for Eurovision and for the Eurovision bubble wouldn't have connected as well with the normal public, while Solo definitely did. I think the audio setup and mixing was generally bad here, breaths really sound loud and it make it sound quite strange and lower quality as a whole - for both of them. However, that ending Jann did was absolutely amazing! While Blanka, she was just bland at best. True tragedy, Jann would've sounded great on the big stage (they even managed to make Blanka sound okay).

Knowing Jann emotional and creative style of singing I am pretty sure that for example the cracks in these lines were intentional:

And he's participating in a competition where he's getting judged and rated by others, everyone can judge him, Reiley, Mae, the Dutch couple and others and I think, if they had real friends, someone would have told them already that they can't sing.

Yes, maybe it would have been better, if he had more time to prepare, but so would have been all of the other acts. Yes, the songs from Kuba, Natasza and the other Yan were worse, I never said, Gladiator was the worst song of this selection. But far from the best, plus his vocals were among the weakest of the night. So, it wasn't enough to win the pre-selection, and it would have been a certain NQ at Eurovision. Even if his vocals would have improved. Vocally, he would have had to pull a 180, if he wanted to qualify. Blanka improved and qualified, but she was already better than him. He had to improve even more to get to Blanka's level. No one who can't sing managed to qualify. He's basically just eye candy, not a good musician.

Good video idea! I heard someone say that Solo was a song for people who can't sing (well). This video underlines that very well, for example through the very limited vocal range that Blanka needs to sing it. That said, it allowed her to control her voice and breathing far better than Jann could in Gladiator, which makes it that Solo is sung better than Gladiator (a bit like how the Greek entry wasn't sung well). However, even with its flaws Gladiator is an infinitely better song and an infinitely better performance than Solo ever was. There is a sense of intensity and urgency and critique that Solo doesn't have, it doesn't even try to be captivating. The fact it qualified and did well in the final bamboozled me more than some other notable results. And it also makes me think that even a good performance by Jann couldn't equal her result, sadly.
Blanka's song qualified because she had at least 2 connections within the jury, one guy was literally her choreographer. Even though it's not allowed to be in the jury when you know one of the contestants personally.

It wasn't the quality of singing that made Blanka qualify, but eighth in the televote of the Grand Final, and third in the semifinal are impressive results for a song I had as a contender for not qualifying at all. Only justified result was 24th in the jury results.

@@AngelDustMyBel0vedshe sounds terribly out of breath, it's evident when the music isn't distracting. Also I felt there were a lot more sound effects on her. On Jann were also sound effects but not nearly as much. I think she's an average singer. While Jann is a talented singer.
That being said, would Jann have gotten a better result? I love his song and would have absolutely voted for it. But chances are he would have had a similar fate as Luke Black. Absolutely loved his song it was unique but it's not a song for the masses. Solo is unfortunately a very generic summer song that blends in well enough with the background and makes probably great shopping music while Gladiator is a song that needs digesting if you know what I mean. Some people will simply not get it

I think that both are bad, but Jann is slightly worse. Plus her performance in Liverpool wasn't as bad as her NF performance, although it's quite possible that Jann could have improved as well, if they had given him lessons for vocals and breathing techniques.

@@in_wino_veritas Jann's performance requires much more brreathing control than blanka's and he still did better than her because he didn't run out of breath till the last chorus which is still great. His voice is just rough but that isn't any prroblem.

I have no clue how Jann didn't win here man, his song was so much harder to sing *and* his dancing was harder ontop of it, and he still sounds great. Not perfect but it's live music, what do you expect? Meanwhile Blanca's song and dance was so much easier and yet she still managed to sound like just, mediocre. At least Jann's mistakes were at the hard bits, she screws up on the easiest parts to sing ever. There's no musicality with her too she's singing it the exact same way the entire time and it just sounds repetative. And speaking of her song it's just so much more basic and repetative than Jann's, there's no deeper like, art behind her song while Jann's actually has meaning. Bad choice, Jann should 100% be on the big stage instead of her.

realise how blanka has literally 1 song while jann has over 10 and releases more and more songs? over the past couple weeks i have observed blanka and janns spotify followers. in the beginning both of their followers got more and more. a couple days ago blanka reached her high with abt. 3.4 million spotify followers and jann has about 1.5 million followers, now you might say that blanka has way more followers (which is true) but while janns follower count continues to increase, blankas followers are decreasing rapidly (exactly what i predicted) so if she doesn’t release more songs, she will end losing a lot of her popularity.
moral of the story: jann deserves the whole world and he would have done so great at eurovision but he is getting popularity nonetheless while blanka is just a boring copycat of other singers.

That's why he's got already more songs than her, everything meeds to go quick, he's already got a new single, etc. And sponrorships with companies, what a corporate sell-out...plus Blanka is writing her own songs, which means that it's gonna take her longer to get 10 songs together. Although I heard, she's also releasing a song in July. Yeah, none of them are true artists.
Jann is so mutch better than Blanka! Gladiator is a very hard song to sing bir he did it work 100%!!!!!!! On a real note I think Blanca sings with too much of an accent here (which is understandable considering they speak a whole other language there) and it almost sounds cursive, she's not terrible, the song just doesn't have ✨flavor✨ like Jann's, his song is just more my personal style.

It's hard to sing while doing these moves, so it's normal for his to have trouble breathing. Still, he controls his voice very well. Jann is better than blanka (my opinion)
Many singers can sing in these positions and dance without getting breathy. Including Blanka, especially in Liverpool, where she didn't get breathy after this dance break. Secondly, he was also out of breath when he wasn't moving. Or was just walking, he also didn't hit any notes and had a lot of voice cracks, his attempt at a falsetto sounds like a cat getting castrated. Especially obvious, if you remove the music, the symphonies, which helped him do the falsetto. In the beginning, his falsetto is almost OK, but then... also, I've never heard someone taking a breath while doing a falsetto. His main issue is, that he's breathing through his mouth, although you actually don't do that while singing. You're breathing through your belly, and he needs to learn that, so that he won't get out of breath that easily. If you think, he's better than Blanka, then that's your opinion, but you need to acknowledge the fact that every expert disagrees.

Why tf does Blanka sound better without the music? The second drop it slowly go's downhill as she stops singing and is out of breath but at the start it was fairly decent

Probably cause she was out of tune with her own song. Like as much as people love shitting on Blanka, her vocals are decent and they got a lot better towards the Eurovision finals, but she is still nothing compared to Jann who blew her out of the water with pure vocal talent during his first ever live performance. Now imagine if he had those few months to perfect the song, vocals, chareography and staging for the Eurovision? It would have been an easy top 5
@JustAlex ik, Yea Blanka is a decent singer and the songs catchy if not a generic summer radio song, but the performance and backing vocals were awful so it together was just plain bad, I still fail to believe she got 2nd in the public over Alijca Or Dominick Dudek who I was certain were the top 3 -

Well, he was worse than her vocally, that's how he lost, Blanka has made a huge improvement since then, but he hasn't, still being outperformed by his 12 yo fans, although he probably would have sounded better, if he made it to Eurovision and got some training.
