- Another mountain song, "Cherokee Trail/Glory in the Meeting House" from Tim O'Brien, Dirk Powell, & John Herrmann from "Songs from the Mountain" released in 2002. It is written by John Herrmann, one of the musicians on this cd. It is said these three were so taken with the book, Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier, that they wanted to make a companion cd. This is prior to both the movie and the movie soundtrack for Cold Mountain. The album is filled with authentic music styles you could hear throughout the mountains during the Civil War period and before. You can hear it now if you are extremely lucky. Enjoy the past and now the future! "Songs From the Mountain" is an enduring testament to the music of the Appalachians.

Greetings from Romania!
Love the Glory in the meeting house outro, best version although a bit short, greetings from the Netherlands.
Hello! Nice to meet you. Glad you enjoyed even though a bit short. My best to you, Moppet
ps If you like this genre, feel free to check out my Old Time/Mountain Music Playlist on my Channel. I have quite a bit in it. I love music!
In reply to Joe McNally, and the poster, MyMoppet52, Cherokee Trail is a traditional tune, not written by anyone in this band, or likely anyone alive today, sorry. Great rendition though, don't mean to take anything from the band, I love it!
I've been gone for almost 2 yrs due to illness. Just seeing your comment. Thx for the input. I need to change my description. My best, Moppet
Cherokee Trail is an original tune written by John Herrmann, the banjo player on this cut...I love this tune, but it is definitely was not a tune you would have heard in the mountains during the Civil War...but, IMHO, the spirit of the tune evokes that time
