- The Calgary Stampede is one of the biggest parties in Canada! I bought a cowboy hat especially for this event because this is definitely an event people dress up for. Taking place every July in Calgary, Alberta, the Stampede is a 10 day event featuring a huge parade, rodeo, exhibition and live music! Join me on a tour of the first day of festivities and see what the biggest attraction in Calgary has to offer :)

I use both of these companies depending on the destination and requirements of entry. If you are going to be abroad for a long time and/or don't need as much coverage, I would recommend SafetyWing. As a born and raised Calgarian, you did a good job of catching the jist of what the Stampede is all about. Too bad you were not up to staying for the fire works, nothing beats ending the night with a bag of mini donuts and watching the fire works from the midway.

Calgary seems to be the heart of cowboy culture in Canada.
If you do like this culture and ever return to Brazil in the month of August, I suggest vou to visit the festival that takes place in the city of Barretos.
It's a 10-day event, with dozens of rodeos and country music shows.
The best is the people who circulate in the site of the event playing with racha other, plus the shops, food stands and the whole atmosphere.
Ir is considered the largest country event in the world.

I was there in '90 or '91. I did not get to see the rodeo, tickets were sold out before Christmas the previous year I think, but I got 2 tickets of the last (4?) in Jan or Feb for chuck wagon races. A frount wagon wheel on the lead wagon broke throwing the driver in one race. The driver hurt his back pretty bad but was able to walk away. The team won the race with no driver! The overall experience was good however I don't remember much of it. I didn't have any extra money to buy souvenirs but I did splurge to buy a Stampede dollar (plastic I think it is) with a bull and rider on it. The smells of the midway always brings up my mood at any exhibition and it was no exception there. May you continue being beautiful!

I didn’t even know that rodeos were a thing in Canada, I’ve always heard about it in some parts of the US. Here in Brazil it’s very popular as well in some parts. The parade was really nice, what impresses me is that everything in Canada is so well organized.
Yes, I am always impressed with how they put on big events like this.
I grew up going to rodeos with my dad (a rodeo cowboy) in rural British Columbia. There are rodeos everywhere in the west. The Stampede is the biggest on Earth as far as the whole event goes.
Yepp lots of horse 🐎 get put down (killed) afterwards as well as the calves (baby cow) from Calf Roping events. The whole thing is pretty stupid due to the fact people know the facts and yet still enjoy it.
Rodeos are a thing in this part of Canada. Particularly BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan.

Live here do it when it's open, always a great time whenever we go. Great food, great music, and the biggest rodeo show, awesome.

The Calgary Stampede is a great take in when you are in Calgary. Harriet and I have been twice. It's a lot of fun. It's dress up day. Get the old cowboy hat out. Even if you couldn't show us the

Looks like there were a lot to do and see there. Thanks for making it special, and one thing that I liked was that the crowds kind of spread out and not crammed into one place at the same time. I grew up in a small town in Nebraska called Burwell the town has Nebraska' big rodeo it once was the 4th. largest rodeo in the world...I thought Calgary was the largest in the world.... You are a very beautiful lady and you look great wearing cowgirl hat thanks for the video....
Well, when you mentioned dressing up for the Stampede, I can honestly say I never have, cause from my hat to my boots that's what I wear 365 days a year no matter where I am in the world, but I've never carried off the Western hat as well as you. I can't count the number of times I've been to this Stampede, but this year as I debated attending, I bought new luggage, for hopefully a Japanese reopening, so catching the Rodeo on TV works for me this year. I only go to the Chuckwagons when I'm showing them to visitors.
It's too bad you only had one day to try to experience the Stampede, but it just can't be done. You did a great job with an quick overview. I've been in the grandstands, the arena, and behind the chutes off and on over the years. As a born and raised Edmontonian, I can honestly say the 10 day vibe during Stampede in Calgary can't be matched anywhere else.

In 2019 six chuckwagon horses died during the Calgary Stampede and this year 1 horse was put down following injury at the Stampede...looks like fun place for people, not so much for horses.

You did not talk about the best grandstand show with awesome fireworks that happens every nite. And all the artwork & crafts and the native hoop dancers. I hope you got to see these things. I was a volunteer for a couple of yrs and just loved the stampede.

omg really calgary is amazing stampede is amazing there are concerts at the saddledome as well i have seen backstreet boys and hilary duff also one of the big attractions is our famous spruce meadows world class showjumping i have lived in calgary since i was 6 years old i have been in alberta calgary for most of my life now calgary is a big city compared to grand prarie its smaller than here but still calgary is awsome really cold in the winter but definitly hot in the summer

lol thanks. All my equipment is linked in the description, but for this video I used the DJI Osmo Pocket 2 which has a built in gimbal.

the Stampede is a lot busier at night (usually have good live music in several venues), i would recommend eating elsewhere first and then going as the prices in the Stampede grounds are steep for everything.

The Calgary, and Southern Alberta the only place in Canada with "Cowboy" culture? Are there rodeos in Sascatchewan or Manitoba? What about Edmonton, or is it too cold up there?
Cowboy culture exists throughout Saskatchewan, Alberta, and the plateau region of central British Columbia, everywhere to about the latitude of Edmonton. Manitoba may have some in the south.
You missed the biggest event at the Stampede. Nashville North.

Calgary just ranked 3rd on earth for livability the highest ranked city in Canada... for good reason.
Lived in the Calgary area for about 15 years, I have never been to Stampede. My business before I sold it was extremely busy during summer months. I however did do deliveries to the grounds during Stampede.
