Some times they use glass fibers or metal strands mixed in the concrete in place of rebar. Basically the fibers or strands will act like tens of thousands of miniature rebars. I do not know how good it will work when heavy loads are applied to it but I have heard that it works real good for things like car garages and storage sheds and stuff like that.
Also, you can buy self sticking magnets or thin magnetic strips that you can put on the back of the remote control. Not certain how powerful the strips are but the button magnets do pretty good.
